Guested Account
Well folks, Black Friday, that day after Thanksgiving every year that is considered one of the biggest (if not the biggest) U.S. holiday shopping days; the day many U.S. consumers begin Christmas shopping; the day heavily promoted by retailers (like myself); is FINALLY OVER!! Once again, we survived a 20+ hours shift from 3:30 am to midnight!! I can already tell the sales this year hasn't been as good as the previous years. I guess the never ending War in Iraq grinding to a standstill; the rising gas prices; the large amount of rising foreclosures across the U.S. are just some of the causes for a sluggish Black Friday!! Nevertheless, what we have made today is more than what we had in our bank accounts when we opened the doors this morning!! For those of you in other countries who are not familiar with Black Friday and for those of you who decided not to brave the cold weather by spending Thanksgiving Day night camped out in front of retail stores so you can be the first ones in line to get those bargain deals; I have gathered these photos from across the internet to show you what Black Friday is all about: 2 of the following photos were taken at my stores but I am not telling which ones and NO, they are not any of the well known nationwide retailers that you can recognize in some of these photos: Don't you just love American Capitalism?!? AngelR
I don't care how much I'd save - you would never get me shopping in that, If I lived in the USA I would definately be staying at home

Lara-IWANNABE-Lara
That was scary, j7! I've never actually shopped on Black Friday, so I've never witnessed that chaos. Those guys filming at 5:30am seemed to be havin' fun, though.
Shrensh
Yeah, it looks like utter chaos I hate crowds so I don't think even the thought of really cheap DVDs would get me to go out in that...

Shrensh
not even $10 Blu-Ray DVDs? ;) ;) or a $340 Wii, complete with Remote and Nunchaku?!? I don't have a Blu-Ray player, so Blu-Ray DVDs would be a bit pointless A Wii would probably be entertaining, but not worth getting myself trampled and killed over... Although I understand that Wiis are in very short supply and highly sought-after at the moment.

Guested Account
Well my friends, another Black Friday is over!! We have survived a 19 hours shift from 3:30 am to 10:30 pm!! I won't know until the end of Sunday if sales this year were up, equal or less compared to last year!! But all the talk about a battered economy and a recession didn't keep the people at home; we had lines of upward to 200 people around each of my three stores before we even open at 4 am!! Just like last year, I have gathered these images to show you American Capitalism at its best!! Once again, two of the following photos were taken at my stores on a sad note, I want to give my sincere condolescence to the Wal Mart Employee that got trampled to death by the unruly mob of shoppers when they opened the door to their store this morning - that was just tragic !! TRXpert
I SOOO wanted to go out in that today! It would be a real adventure. I wanted to put myself in danger, just for the fun of it, but sadly, I never got out today. What a pain. It was kind of a boring day actually. But it really is dangerous out there. I read that one guy was killed by being trampled on by so many customers. That's a little disturbing. They didn't care about anything but they're shopping. They didn't even care that they were trampling on and killing a human being. They HAD to have known he was under their feet...

Hardkore
strange Wal Mart Management didn't make everyone be there at 4 am like the other retailers (and I) did!! The Walmart stores in my area did. If fact some came in earlier. **** I just came across this bit of saddening news. 2 men dead after shots fired in SoCal Toys 'R' Us on Black Friday PALM DESERT, Calif. (AP) — Two men pulled guns and shot each other to death in a crowded toy store Friday after the women with them erupted into a bloody brawl, witnesses said. Scared shoppers fled but no one else was hurt. The violence erupted on Black Friday, the traditional post-Thanksgiving start of the holiday shopping surge, but authorities indicated the shooting wasn't related to a shopping frenzy. Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Dennis Gutierrez said the fight was not over a toy. He said handguns were found by the men's bodies, but he released little other information. He would not answer a question about whether the shooting was gang-related. Witnesses Scott and Joan Barrick said they were checking out of the store when the fight began between two women, each with a man. The women were near the checkout area, but the Barricks did not think the women had purchases. Edited November 30, 2008 by Hardkore

Ms.Croft
My God, I'm somewhat glad we don't do anything like that in England (Well, in the south west at least). We have late-night shopping, but not many of the shops are open at ridiculous hours, they tend to just stay open until 10pm or midnight, etc every week on Thursday night until after Christmas. I think it starts the second week of November, I can't quite remember, though the day may differ depending on the county. MsC
Guested Account
well this coming Friday is Black Friday again!! In the past years, we closed early on Wednesday, closed on Thursday (Turkey Day) before Black Friday. This year we are going to try something different: we will be closed all day Wednesday, closed on Thursday (don't worry, each and everyone of my employees will receive full 'holiday' pay for those 2 days) before Black Friday so everyone can get 2 days rest instead of 1 an 1/4!! OH please don't make me go, Please!! Edited November 24, 2009 by J7Dadda
Blade
I think I've worked almost every black friday since I have been working for Taco Bell. I don't even go out on that day to shop, and I can't even imagine what its like in all the retail stores. I just know people get hungry and not everyone wants leftovers.
