But now everyone knows the CIA is incompetent and guilty of many things which we will not discuss. A clever fun story: you could see Walter Matthau and Glenda Jackson really enjoyed making this film. They were truly into their on screen personas. 4.5/5 p.s. when did hotels started using key cards to open rooms? There is a scene in here at the Hilton London where the CIA agents were staying, and they used key cards to open the doors to their rooms. I did plenty of traveling in the USA in the 90's and I didn't come across a hotel here in the USA that used key cards for the first time until the late 90's. It was during a business trip to Washington DC and I got a room at the Doubletree hotel. I still remember having a hell of a time trying to get the door open. I guess from this movie being made in 1980, that's something that was already in use in Europe and didn't become a norm in the USA until almost a decade later? Mark Wahlberg reprises his role as Cade Yeager from Transformers: Age Of Extinction, reuniting with old allies, Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, and bringing new allies and friends, in the continuing battle against Megatron's attempt to destroy Earth and the human race. Exciting, suspenseful, intelligent, witty, humorous, action packed, incredible stunts, amazing special effects, visuals and CGI, Michael Bay shows us once again why he is the best movie director in the world right now. Eat your heart out Christopher Nolan and J. J. Abrams and your narrow minded fanboys, y'all only wish your excuses for what barely passes for movies could be this good, you over-rated hacks and tool losers! Starring The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series Noomi Rapace as Alice Ravine, the main character. I rather enjoyed this. Rapace kicks some major ass in this including several physical fights and gun battles! Director Michael Apted (Nell, Gorillas In The Mist, the World Is Not Enough) and an all star cast of John Malkovich, Michael Douglas, Orlando Bloom, Toni Collette do a good job here: unfortunately, Unlocked was panned by the critics and it didn't do anything at the box office. It would had been nice to see a spin off film franchise series with Alice Ravine [and one with Lorraine Broughton], they would bring a much needed refreshing change to the male dominated spy thrillers genre composed of film franchises such as James Bond, Jason Bourne and Ethan Hunt. 4/5 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It was annoying. They spent the first almost 20 minutes introducing 8 very shallowly written cardboard characters that will make you think: Hey! This constant need to tie the comic books from one company, D.C., and comic books from the other company, Marvel, into 2 individual film franchises is getting annoying and banale and repetitive. It may be cute with the new clueless young movie audience many of whom never even actually picked up and read a super hero comic book; but for us older and wiser folks, they need to be separated into their individual worlds: Spider-Man is Spider-Man, Superman is Superman, Batman is Batman, Iron Man is Iron Man, etc etc Batman never meets Superman, Spider-Man never meets Thor, etc etc Spider-Man as part of the Avengers with Iron Man is not Spider-Man. Spider-Man already has his own super powers: he doesn't need Tony Stark and his technology. Look at the poster above: even with the title Spider-Man printed on it, it looks more like an Avengers film with Spider-Man making a guest cameo appearance. You have Iron Man and Tony Stark on the same poster. Heck, they should had threw in Captain America and Black Widow and the Incredible Hulk while they were a it! Why stop at only one Avengers character? Furthermore, the action scenes are so heavily CGI, it's very difficult to tell what's going on especially in the climax battle sequence. A group of terrorists hold the British Ambassador to Scandinavia hostage in his home along with his servants. Another group of terrorists hijack a commercial airliner that just landed at the nearby Scandinavia airport. It's set in Scandinavia, no, not the region, for the movie's intention and purpose, they say it's the fictional country of Scandinavia. The head of Scandinavia security (Sean Connery) along with representatives of the British and Scandinavia government tries to negotiate the release of both group of hostages without resorting to violence and bloodshed. The plot is a bit complicated at first and there is more to it than meets the viewer's eye. It stays interesting and holds your attention until about almost the end of the 2nd act and thebeginning of the 3rd and final act and then you are suddenly hit with a WTF ending!! This is what they came up with to explain the reasons for the entire 2 terrorist plots and to end the movie? Why? More characters development and study, the It was only shown in glimpses adding more tension to the horror, more heart and soul and emotional story; while the theatrical remake is more visual, has less characters development and study, and shows too much of the creature; and of course, lots of gore, blood, gross parts and horror CGI - all of which could had been toned down a bit: it's a movie based on a Stephen King's novel, not an Eli Roth horror gore fest. Plus it doesn't end, you will have to wait until 2019 for the adult chapter of the story so they can double dip your wallet!! After his early successes with La Femme Nikita, The Fifth Element and The Professional, Besson got stuck in the rut that many great foreign writer-directors get stuck in after they go to Hollywood: cinematic formulaitic bad movies devoid of the wirter-director's original vision which put them on the critically acclaimed map. Movie flops like The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc and Lucy and Taxi and Bandidas and Colombiana. I guess I was mistaken. This movie is visually beautiful but that's about it. The storyline is confusing and muddled and some of the dialogue are asinine. After 2 hours and 17 min, you will come away wanting more and feeling empty. I felt the main character Valerian might have been cast better but I like Sci-Fi and this was a pretty good story. If Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich teamed up again for this it would have been a huge hit. It was a classic tale of the bad guys doing the wrong thing, covering it up and the good guys trying to get to the truth and making things right. I don't know who he is, never heard of him, and he couldn't act and he reminded me of a very arrogant Leonardo DiCaprio, whom I also can't stand! Then 22 some years later they did it all over again during World War 2. Guested Account Posted November 9, 2017 Author Report Share Posted November 9, 2017 (edited) Happy Death Day (2017) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5308322/ Take Phil, the self centered, obnoxious, rude weatherman from Groundshog Day who is a major jerk and change his character into a girl and you have Tree (Teresa): the self centered, obnoxious rude college co-ed sorority girl in Happy Death Day, who is a major witch. Just like Phil, Tree will re-live her day over and over and each time she will have to make some changes in her behavior so the next day will be slightly different from the previous day until she is able to break the deja vu cycle. The only difference between Phil's day and Tree's day is Tree is getting murdered each time; so not only does she wants to break the cycle, she needs to find out who is the killer that is killing her over and over. There are a couple of surprises here and the premise is very workable but the writers and director just couldn't bring it all together to make it work as a solid horror film which at times it's almost mocking itself.
