No winner was chosen for 1950, 1953 and 1954.

1953 was the year the Corvette debuted. I am surprised it wasn't chosen.

I wouldn't mind having some of these cars, before 1990s, before computers and microchips and all the useless electronics.

When anyone could work on their own vehicles like changing the alternator, the AC compressor, dropping the starter.

Yes its that time of the year again, NFL football is once again with us. Share your favorite team's stories or tell us who your favorite team is. I'll start it off here, my team is the Carolina Panthers. Here's a story I picked up off their website, it was quite an exciting start for their season.

Panthers shock Chargers

SAN DIEGO - Sometimes, two seconds can last forever.

Empirically speaking, in football, they can last as long as a play can endure as long as the ball is snapped before the clock hits triple zeroes. As long as the blockers can hold snarling pass rushers out of the passing pocket, as long as the quarterback can dart around and search for an opening, as long as it takes for some potential pass-catcher to find open space, and as long as it takes for all of those things to come together and create a crevice through which the football can fly.

Sometimes, though, the time crawls. A tsunami of noise is muted. And Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme, in his first regular-season game in nearly 12 months, two seconds on the clock and destiny in his hands.

"I'm just standing there," he said, "and it was like it was going in slow motion, just looking, looking, looking."

Then, the controlled mayhem of 21 men moving around and in front of Delhomme drew into focus -- in the form of No. 88, tight end Dante Rosario.

"Dante and I just caught eyes."

Delhomme pumped. He threw.

"I threw it and I said to myself, 'It might have a chance,'" Delhomme said. "The next thing you know, he's holding it and mayhem broke loose."

This was a different sort of mayhem than the one that surrounded Delhomme seconds earlier -- one without control or restraint.

Somewhere amidst a mob of blue-shirted humanity at Qualcomm Stadium late Sunday afternoon, Rosario had the football, Delhomme ran around -- "like (former North Carolina State basketball coach) Jim Valvano," by his own admission -- and the Panthers had a 26-24 win over the San Diego Chargers.

The unfettered celebration was strictly spontaneous. The mayhem of the pass that proceeded it, however, had something of a plan when Delhomme came back from the sideline and addressed his teammates in the huddle.

"Jake literally told everyone, 'I want five verticals (routes); everyone get into the end zone, get open; I'm throwing it up,'" Rosario said.

"It was kind of a sandlot play," added left tackle Jordan Gross. "Just two seconds left, find somebody."

Admitted Delhomme: "It's a play we haven't run much. This was five verticals going to the end zone. This happens only at the end of the game; you've got to throw it in there."

But that play wouldn't have been possible without some crisp planning and drilling of the situation that came before it -- a six-yard pass from Delhomme to Muhsin Muhammad that made possible the final heroics.

"I think what helped us more than anything was the play before," Delhomme said. "We had six seconds and we still had a timeout, so we still had that in our pocket and we called all slants and all the guys knew to get down; it's a situation we've practiced numerous times."

It worked to perfection.

"As soon as (Muhammad) caught it, he went down and everyone's calling timeout," Rosario said.

The official record of the game shows an 11-play, 68-yard drive to Rosario's 14-yard touchdown -- just the third of his career. It shows that the Panthers seized a 19-10 lead early in the fourth quarter, and then lost it after surrendering two touchdowns in four minutes and 18 seconds.

But it doesn't show the significance of the last two seconds to a quarterback returning from an injury that might have threatened his career, a tight end who is just beginning to show what he can be, and a team that went into the game with one of its key components suspended and watching back in Charlotte, with Steve Smith hoping his team could pull through without him, knowing his team wanted to win it for him.

Everything intersected in those two seconds.

The comparison to Delhomme's game-winning drive and touchdown pass to Ricky Proehl in the 2003 season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars was obvious.

However ...

"This is 100 times greater," Delhomme said.

"This one's better, honestly," Gross said. "This is one game, one win, but this is a huge win for us."

And it was a win that happened in two seconds ... two seconds that can last a lifetime for Delhomme, Rosario, their giddy teammates and their fans watching from afar.

NIELSEN ratings HARASSMENT

A year ago we received an envelope in the US mail, labeled sent by Nielsen Rating, on the front it read take a survey of your TV viewing.

We threw it away.

6 months ago we received another one.

We threw that away too.

Last week we came home there was big FEDEX envelope at our front door, again from NIELSEN.

We open it and inside a letter said because NIELSEN tried to contact us twice before and we didn't answer.

They will be sending a person out to talk to us about our TV viewing and Radio listening.

They want to talk to everyone who lives here who is at least 12 years old and watch TV and listen to the Radio.

To call a phone # or go online to a website to tell them the best time to send the person out.

So I call NIELSEN in NYC and in Maryland, (found the #s by GOOGLE) and told them to remove us.

I gave the guy our address, no names.

He kept insisting he couldn't do it unless I also gave him our phone #s, email addresses and names of everyone living here who is 12 or older that watches TV and listen to the Radio.

I yelled at him you don't need that. On the FEDEX envelope it was addressed to The Household and the address. No names.

On the letter inside it it said dear TV viewer and Radio listener, no names.

So he said he will put our address in the Do Not Contact list.

Then today a few minutes after I came home, there is a guy standing outside our front door knocking.
I open the door and ask are you the NIELSEN guy?
He said yes.

I yelled at him why are you harassing us?

After no responses to two envelopes a year ago and 6 months ago, that would be enough message for you to no longer contact us.

Then last week with the FEDEX envelope.

I called right after that and told you guys in NY and Maryland not to contact us again and yet here you are.

I know all my neighbors and I spoke with them and

None of them have received anything from NIELSEN in the last year.

Only us? WHY?

I also noticed he already put a door hanger on the door knob and taped a business card to the door.

I took those and threw them at him.

Then I took the big FEDEX envelope from last week and I threw that at him too.

I told him take that sht with you and don't ever come back

This is fuking harassment on your part and on NIELSEN.

He wants to tell me HE CANNOT TAKE THE FEDEX envelope because he is not a UNITED STATES POSTAL CARRIER and by taking that FEDEX envelope back, he will be breaking FEDERAL POSTAL LAW regarding ILLEGAL HANDLING OF FEDERAL MAIL.

I told him BS!

FEDEX is NOT FEDERAL POSTAL MAIL.

FEDEX is a PRIVATE COMPANY.

Don't Tell me the law when you don't know the law.

He took it back and left.

Kept telling me no one told him we were on the do not contact list.

Then wants to give me a speech of how he is only doing his job and trying to feed his family.

That is not our problem, you are harassing us!

After he left I came in and I called NIELSEN in NY and Maryland again and yelled at them again.

They look it up on the computer and said yes the guy last week did put our address in the do not contact list.

I said he did? So why is this guy here?

I told them the next time a NIELSEN person shows up, I will have them arrested for trespassing and harassment.

The next time I receive any mail in the United States Postal Mail, I will file charges against NIELSEN with the Postal Investigators and Post Master.

I will also call the U.S. Government FTC and file an official complaint

I also told them it's 2026, most everyone has a smart TV or a satellite radio or something like that.

You should know when a TV is turned on, what station is it on, what program is being played, how long that program was viewed in minutes and seconds before the viewer change the channel or turn the TV off.

Even Netflix know when you try to use the wrong TV to sign into Netflix, they will tell you sorry, you are not using your TV associated with your Netflix account to sign in.

Yet NIELSEN wants to do it the old way and use paper survey and people.

Just like the electric company no longer send people out to read electric meters each month to see how much electricity you consumed in the previous 30 days billing period.

Everything is done by remote meters and computers.

I told them get with the 21st century and stop harassing people.

Some restaurants are considering adding a 20% Automatic Gratuity to EVERY bill.

Restaurants usually automatically add a 15% to 20% tip to tables with 4-6 or more diners.

But because of the World Cup, some restaurants are considering adding a 20% tip to every bill.

It doesn't matter if it's a table of one or a table of 10. It doesn't matter if the tab is $5, $20 or $200.

20%!!

That's 20% on top of some restaurants that are already charging a SERVICE CHARGE, which they say it's not a TIP to the waiters and waitresses.

I've seen those SERVICE CHARGE range from as low as 2% to as high as 25%.

Disney buys out Lucasfilm, the Star Wars Franchise and George Lucas for $4 Billion!!

1) Disney now owns all LucasFilm IP: Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Skywalker Sound, LucasArts (games), Lucas Books/Animation/Licensing/Marketing/Online, and ILM (the company that once owned Pixar), as well as the trademark for "Android" or "Droid". Disney will now own all intellectual property rights with some distribution and licensing "entaglements" based on existing deals, much like how Universal still has the Marvel theme park license for a while yet and Sony makes Spider-Man movies.
2) Much was made of Disney's global licensed product and distribution reach making better use of LucasFilm licenses, with all emphasis on the $4.05 billion paid being relative to the value of the Star Wars franchise. For example, this would imply that any Star Wars (and Indiana Jones?) licensed comic books will now go under Marvel once the current Star Wars/Dark Horse contract ends, and video games would go through Disney Interactive.

UPDATE 1:: Bob Iger: "We're likely to focus more on social and mobile than we are on console. We'll look opportunistically at console, most likely in licensing rather than publishing, but we think that given the nature of these characters and how well known they are, and the storytelling, that they lend themselves quite nicely, as they've already demonstrated to the other platforms" ...so maybe Star Wars comics are safe at Dark Horse? ...I want to say no way in hell, when you own one of the two megalithic comic publishers...

UPDATE 3:: The Star Wars 1313 game is staying on track, per a LucasArts statement.

3) Disney plans to release a new Star Wars movie every 2-3 years starting in 2015. All of them will be in 3D.

4) Star Wars Episodes 7, 8, and 9 will be a trilogy. The treatment is done, is in "early stage development", and the movies are to be released every other year.

5) ILM will remain a studio-agnostic gun for hire. Disney does not want to change anything about how they operate.

6) Fox retains ownership and distribution of all existing Star Wars movies (until that contract expires...?). Disney can use any and all characters from the entire Star Wars canon in all of its new movies. All future films will be distributed by Disney, unlike Paramount retaining partial distribution rights when Marvel was acquired. No mention was made of who now owns the Star Wars Holiday Special.

7) They made it extremely clear that the Indiana Jones (and other non-SW) IP was not factored into their valuation of LucasFilm, only Star Wars and Star Wars-related IP. They made an oblique reference to "entanglements" (i.e., Paramount's distribution and ownership of the existing movies and, I expect Young Indy, if they remember it exists).

8) This may be reaching, but they made repeated reference to the broader reach of the Disney content family in general, and toward the end someone asked about the Disney Faeries and other "girl-oriented" IP expansions and how they'd handle that. Disney sidestepped addressing it in terms of specific plans, but acknowledged that they have many plans in this area for sure.

UPDATE 2:: Bob Iger: "We love the fact that this will take its place in our live-action strategy as a known and loved brand. We really like Star Wars’ potential on TV, and Disney XD would be a great home for that."

This means that the long-rumored live-action Star Wars TV series is just the tip of the iceberg. No word on how Clone Wars (distributed by Warner Bros on home video) falls into any of this.

9) I just realized this means that Disney now fully owns Captain EO and Star Tours. This deal has been in the works for a long while, I guarantee you. Think about it.

Lucas noted that he wrote original treatments for 7, 8, and 9, and handed them over to Disney.

Lucas' admission that he has even bothered to write treatments for 7,8, and 9 pays put to the lie that he was never going to make continuation movies.

It also proves that he's a massive sell-out.

In the end he sold out to the very same studio system he claimed to hate and want no part of.

He took the money and....waddled.

Seeing Lucas getting out of the SW business is a day I thought would never come.

Maybe someone is going to come along and make SW films for the kids in all of us, and make a film that appeals to both young and old without insulting the intelligence and without annoying characters like Jar Jar binks!!

Maybe make a film where the director seems to give an actual damn about story continuity and integrity. Gives a damn about acting and storytelling.

Let the directors hype and rumours begin!

After that, there is a whole universe to be explored from 4ABY to 138 ABY including Han Solo and Princess Leia getting married.

I wonder what are they going to use?

I doubt they will bring back Han, Leia, Luke, etc they (Ford, Hamill, Fisher) are too old now even if they were coming back to play their roles 20 or 30 years after the events of Episodes 4-6

The NFL released the 2026 Schedule tonight.

There will be 9 International games this season with the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams opening their season on September 10th by playing each other in Melbourne Australia.

The San Francisco 49ers is one of two teams that plays 2 international games.

Their second game will be in week 11th versus the Minnesota Vikings in Mexico City, Mexico.

The other team that also plays 2 international games are the Jacksonville Jaguars.

They will have 2 games in London.

First one is on October 11th in week 4 at Tottenham Hotspur stadium versus the Philadelphia Eagles and then on October 18th in week 5 at Wembley stadium versus the Houston Texans.

Once again, we survived a 20+ hours shift from 3:30 am to midnight!!

I can already tell the sales this year hasn't been as good as the previous years.

I guess the never ending War in Iraq grinding to a standstill; the rising gas prices; the large amount of rising foreclosures across the U.S. are just some of the causes for a sluggish Black Friday!!

Nevertheless, what we have made today is more than what we had in our bank accounts when we opened the doors this morning!!

For those of you in other countries who are not familiar with Black Friday and for those of you who decided not to brave the cold weather by spending Thanksgiving Day night camped out in front of retail stores so you can be the first ones in line to get those bargain deals;

For many Americans, it's a long holiday weekend that starts Today and ends on Sunday; punctuated with families get-together, lots of food especially Turkey, Football, Holiday Sales and Pure Lazyness!!
