Ms.Croft Posted September 10, 2007 Report Posted September 10, 2007 Well, I'm back from Florida. I checked in a couple of times on a wireless connection, but it was so slow, I just got to read a bit, not post much. We had beautiful weather -- no hurricanes! I especially enjoyed seeing manatees up close in the Springs, not behind glass, and seeing an otter in the wild. I did lots of shopping, too. Wow, you're so lucky. I had the same experience when I went to a beach in Santa Cruz. I'll never forget the moment when I dipped under the water and saw a huge Manatee swimming towards me. It was terrifying until he rolled over and I stroked his belly. Then 4 or 5 of his family appeared and were 10 times bigger than he was lol. There was also a rope that was keeping a boat stable attatched to the seabed and the baby manatee was playing with it; it was incredible. take a bottle of vinegar (any kind, red, white, etc) and if you get a jelly fish on you, pour some vinegar on it and it will die within seconds; the vinegar also neutralizes the poison Aww, I don't think it's fair to kill one just because it's defending itself from you as you have fun in its natural habitat. Just shuffle your feet along the seabed and it scares them off. They never sting intentionally, only because you accidentely stand on them so they're just likely to swim away. MsC Quote
Guested Account Posted October 11, 2007 Report Posted October 11, 2007 Andrea, Allessandra, Aurora and I will be on vacation starting Wednesday, December 19th, 2007 through Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008. From Saturday, December 22nd, 2007 through Friday, December 28th, 2007, we will be in Miami, Florida!! The rest of the time, we will be in Houston!! Also, to avoid putting the girls through the traumatic experience of Long Holiday Airport Lines and Security Checkpoints and Baggage Inspection and Flight Delays, etc etc; we will be using my Friend's private jet!! No Lines, No Security Inspection, No Delayed or Missed Flights and it cuts the flight time down by 2 hours too!! Quote

AngelR Posted October 13, 2007 Author Report Posted October 13, 2007 Due to the fact that I forgot my sons passport needed renewing we aren't doing our usual overseas city trip this half-term (week beg. 22nd Oct). We are going to Liverpool for 3 days instead (still a European City) - I've only ever been to the Albert dock and that was a few years ago so I'm looking forward to it, it's nice just to get away. I'm also off to Tuscany with my sister for a few days at the beginning of December (my passports OK LOL). Quote
larsonsmother Posted October 15, 2007 Report Posted October 15, 2007 sounds good Ange! We went to Liverpool a couple of years ago for the day - there's some really nice shopping areas - also, try the Beatles Museum (if you're a fan) on the dock - There's also Chester Zoo not far away. have fun! AJ=TR Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 Have a great time, AngelR! Hope you get some time to relax and do some serious sightseeing. Quote
AngelR Posted October 24, 2007 Author Report Posted October 24, 2007 I'm back - we had a great time, we wandered around Liverpool centre on Monday, we saw everything we wanted to see but I don't think we saw the City at it's best - it's a bit like a giant building site at the moment. There are lots of nice restaurants etc. and we had lovely meals on both evenings we were there. On Tuesday (a lovely sunny day) we did the nearby coast - We saw 'Another place' at Crosby beach - 100 statues over a 3 mile stretch staring out to sea - very impressive. Then we went to Formby point nature reserve and saw lots of red squirrels - they are only found in small pockets of Britain (thanks to the grey squirrel) and we had never seen one before and probably won't again. Then we went to Stockport which was nice. Today we visited Chester on the way home - nice shops there too. I'm not back at work til Monday so I'll try and do as little as possible for the next few days. As I'm on leave I have stinking cold (isn't it the way) my nose should have stopped running by then Quote
BPanther Posted October 24, 2007 Report Posted October 24, 2007 Welcome back AngelR! Glad you liked Liverpool! All the building is a bit annoying and the cranes ruin the city skyline but I guess it's worth it, as Liverpool will be Capital of Culture 2008. I love Chester! One of my favourite places! Quote
AJ=TR Posted October 29, 2007 Report Posted October 29, 2007 Welcome back, AngelR! Those statues look so odd, I thought they were people until the pic finished loading, lol. That must have been cool to see up close. Sorry to hear you have the sniffles. Hope you feel better soon! Quote

AngelR Posted December 7, 2007 Author Report Posted December 7, 2007 Have a great time, AngelR! Don't forget to take your camera. I remembered to take it with me but forgot on Wednesday to transfer it to the bag we were walking round with. So I have some photos on my camera and some on my mobile phone! I'll post some when I'm sorted. We had a great time - it's a lovely place, good food, nice weather too - we came back last night, to 70 mph winds and pouring rain (quite a bumpy landing LOL). Quote
BPanther Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 Welcome back AngelR! Looking forward to see the photos!! BPanther Quote

We're going to be spending the next few days at my older sister's place in Wimbledon, then we're going to Wales for the new year I won't be online very much for the next couple of weeks, so merry Christmas, happy new year, and enjoy the chat event tomorrow night! AngelR Posted December 28, 2007 Author Report Posted December 28, 2007 As promised - some pics of my italian break: Bridge over the River Arno - which goes thru' the centre of Pisa Similar view at night I don't think this needs a title! The cathedral (next to the tower) The cathedral doors were very ornate - this nativity scene was just one of the panels. The Baptistry One of Lucca - taken with my phone Quote
Guested Account Posted December 28, 2007 Report Posted December 28, 2007 We are back early!! We got in at 2:22 am this morning - oh boy, was it not fun!! They had some kind of malfunction with the airport at Fort Lauderdale where we were supposed to fly out of so they grounded all flights going out and coming in including our private flight. Instead of leaving on time at 4:50 pm, we didn't leave until almost midnight. But Allessandra and Aurora took it pretty well; as well as babies can. They just slept and ate and slept and ate - as long as they hear and see Dadda and Mommy near them, nothing bothers them to the least!! Quote
