Guested Account Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 Shoot the buttons, shoot the creatures, shoot the button again, jump on slope, slide and jump, grab the horizontal bar, swing and jump to grab the next horizontal bar, turn around on the bar, swing, jump, grab the crevice, shimmy to the left, jump backward to grab the bar, swing and jump again, use the grapple to hook up to the ring, do the wall run and then jump to the opposite corner, slide, jump, use the grapple AGAIN, wall run AGAIN, jump to grab ANOTHER crevice, jump up to grab a higher crevice, shimmy around and then jump to grab the ledge behind Lara, pull Lara up. Do all this in less than 30 seconds before the horizontal bars and the grapple rings retract? NO WAY!! I killed her a dozen time and there is not enough time to get to even the first wall run!! Quote
Shrensh Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 You can jump directly to the first grapple point, which saves a load of time. Keep the jump button pressed while jumping to go further. Have a look at from Xcom over at the Eidos forums. Quote

Shrensh Posted June 17, 2007 Report Posted June 17, 2007 Yeah, you can I was so very grateful to learn of that move, after getting stuck at that point for absolutely ages. Good luck! Quote
Guested Account Posted June 17, 2007 Author Report Posted June 17, 2007 Damn I got the grapple and then the camera angle screwed me up and while I am messing around with the camera to get her to wall run in the correct directions, everything retracted. Quote
BPanther Posted June 18, 2007 Report Posted June 18, 2007 It definitely works 'cause that's how I got it done too!! BPanther Quote

That video is terrible i did it 3 times the correct way with no trouble and you dont need to keep swinging just the once in the correct direction and jump to the ledge i suppose that way is ok for the time trial but its kinda cheating. Edit. BTW i know its not ur vid just commenting Edited June 18, 2007 by Fusion Quote

Blade Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 30 seconds??? More like 10 to me....I was at wits end at that part myself, but I finally did it and did it the way it was supposed to be done as J7 had pointed out. But there's a relic in that level, did anyone find it... Quote
Boaz Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!! I am stuck at this stupid timed place and i came here to cry my soul out and look for help and then i saw that video and OMG!! You've just saved me an anger management counselling session, LOL! I cannot describe how angry and frustrated this jumping thing made me! (btw i saw the video only after i wrote a whole paragraph of whining and complaining and some other stuff which i am more than happy that i deleted now ). I'll go than try that right away! It seems impossible otherwise! Did anyone manage to do it the proper way? Quote
Guested Account Posted June 20, 2007 Author Report Posted June 20, 2007 Did anyone manage to do it the proper way? not me, after watching the video I did it that way... only after killing Lara about a dozen times first!! Quote
Phantom_2040 Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 I did it the "proper" way, mainly because I didn't know of any other way. I just bullied my way through the level, ranting and raving like a lunatic all the while. Quote
Contra666 Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 I have tried this so many times and I just can't do it. If I jump to the grapple hook I can get on it, but after adjusting her height she jumps to the slope and I can't seem to get her to slide correctly (she slips the wrong way or she just stands still). If I do it the other way, the same thing happens usually. Does anybody have a savegame for just after this section? Thanks Quote
Contra666 Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 I knew posting this would make me do it! I used the jump to the grapple hook method, and manged to do it. Thanks Quote

That's exactly what happend with me! I don't know what i'm doing wrong, i'm furious again! It looks SO easy on the video! Why can't i do it!!!!!!! btw i saw a video of the proper way.... amazing! I take my hat off to anyone who can do it that way! Actually.... i take my hat off to anyone who has passed this section in ANY way because i'm still stuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Shrensh Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 You may hanging too low on the grapple rope. Try jumping from a bit higher on the rope. Have a look at this picture for a reference Quote
Boaz Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 So that's how high i should be? Ok, i'll try it out, thanks.... wish me luck Quote
Shrensh Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Yeah, you have to be fairly high on the rope, otherwise she gets stuck at the top or slides off the side. Good luck, let us know how you do! Quote
Boaz Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Okay..... THAT'S IT!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't take it anymore! Probably i'm retirded or something, i just CANNOT do it!!!!!!!! *cries*... only ONCE i managed to get to the second grapple, and then i didn't have enough momentum in order to jump, so i took a run up and my time was up... the second time i got near it, i just pressed W instead of Q because i was under too much pressure... and guess what happened... this is as far as i could get to: I HATE THIS LEVEL! What kind of psycho is the person who made this up! I HATE him/her too! In my years of tomb raiding experience... i've always thought of myself as a veteran, you know... I cannot believe this is happening to me now! For me, the greatest humiliation has always been the thought to download a savegame if i'm stuck.... And you know what? Right now i'm seriously contemplating it! The only thing that's stopping me at the moment is the fact that i will probably lose all my relics and artifacts i've collected Quote

The only thing that's stopping me at the moment is the fact that i will probably lose all my relics and artifacts i've collected lol, I can totally sympathise with your frustration. I almost broke my keyboard trying to do this bit. I advise getting away from the game for a while when it gets to situations like these. You might find that if you come back to later you'll be more relaxed and will be able to do it. If you're really considering downloading a savegame though, if you want you could send me the save you're on at the moment and I'll see if I can load it and get past that bit for you. Quote
ImBatman Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 that was tough, i didnt find it that hard though, i just jumped to the grapple missing out the poles and done it after 3 or 4 tries. that was bad level design though i was quite disapointed with that level, and the mutant monster thing i beat him so easily Quote
Boaz Posted June 21, 2007 Report Posted June 21, 2007 Awww, Shrensh, thank you so much for that, i really appreciate it!!! Very kind of you, but...... actually there is no need for that because.... i DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I PASSED!!!!!!!! I SURVIVED!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWW! I can't believe it! I'm at the veru end of the most horrible level on Earth!!!!! Which reminds me that the next one will involve a fight with Natla and that hidious creature... and i am sure that this will involve... once again... the stupid adrenaline dodge. Even the thought of it makes me shiver, lol.... but it doesn't matter, because I DID THE TIMED JUMPS! So what can be worse!!!!! LOL Thank you so much everyone for your help and understanding It was really hard for me, a truly terrifying experience and i couldn't have managed without you. Thanks!!! Quote
Shrensh Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 Congratulations! That bit was really tough... and it was definitely not helped by you having to re-kill the stupid monsters every time you missed a jump, and by Lara constantly shooting at the targets on the walls instead of the giant vicious mutants that are throwing fireballs at her Quote

I want to know what kind of psycho made this whole game up: the artifact in the fire room in Palace Midas, this puzzle, and there are 2 more later in this level that will drive you nuts!! Quote
