Sevinkei
I just got the pistols back and returned to the beginning of the level. Shot the rope to free the boat, then got distracted and went after the Relic. Then I discovered the boat had floated too far, beyond what I assume to be what I would have jumped off at. Is there some way to move the boat, or is it actually supposed to be there (and I'm just missing something obvious), or do I have to restart the level? I'd intended to do just that, but I only have one save and, foolishly enough, it's after I'd released the boat. If there's some option in the menus to restart the level, I've repeatedly overlooked it. And this makes me a sad gamer. ): Any advice? Shrensh
The boat is not necessary for completing the level; it's just to get an artefact or a relic. There's no way of restarting a level that I know of, but once the game has been completed you can choose to replay levels, so you can go back and get what you missed afterwards. I'd advise keeping more than one save slot, just in case of situations like this (I have saves from the beginning of each level myself). Blade
What I did there was I got the artifact first by using the boat. Then when I went back I swam under the waterfall and made my way back around and up so I could shoot the crate down that had the relic inside it and then jump back into the water and get the relic. Sevinkei
Yes, I'd been afraid that the boat was necessary for completing the level, but when I went back to take my frustration out on the rats, I discovered I'd been mistaken. I've since beaten the game, heh.

I was able to reach the alcove without the whole boat ledge thing by swinging on the middle rope used to get above the waterfall. I positioned myself in the direction of the alcove, got as low as possible on the rope and just jumped for it. I jumped just before she reached the peak of the arch and just kept aiming for the aclove mid air. Low and behold she ran into the alcove. I know you've finished the game, but maybe it will help someone else.
