Eldin
I am done with Thailand levels. There is only one word for this level True Beauty I like everything here, nature, ruins, puzzles...this level is not linear and I was really enjoying. Treasures are real challenge here too. But there is something that I don't understand here, bats in the middle of the day? I know that bats where in other TR games as well, but its strange to see them in sunlight. Look at this beautiful view It must be very scary to be way up here, but that is not problem for Lara right? Shiva Hi again Thor Lara, you just can't run from Natla she is everywhere! Yep, its not easy to be a God Lara Yay, I am a treasure hunter Off to home
JBTRPlayer
Ugh. I am so relieved to be out of Thailand. One of the most buggy areas in the game in my opinion, but it does have some beautiful scenery so I guess it's not a complete loss. Oh well... I found only: 29/30 Treasures and 1 Relic, so it was a relatively successful playthrough. Now for some Screens: ;-----------------------------------------------------------; Shiva and Kali ;-----------------------------------------------------------; Some Nice Views ;-----------------------------------------------------------; Showcasing Lara's Beauty ;-----------------------------------------------------------; Showing Lara's More Angry Side Lara: Zip, Allister, After spending almost half an hour trying to swing to the opposite side of a water filled chamber from a grapple ring, I need a break from this adventure. I'm going to Paris for a vacation... ;-----------------------------------------------------------; Definitely Not a Natural Carving in The Stone ;-----------------------------------------------------------; Oh well... After so long in Thailand, it'll be a nice refresher to be in Croft Manor/Crypt... Next Stop... Protected by the Dead

I don't know how, but I missed one treasure in Thailand... Excellent Screens as well. I have always been fond of the scenery in the Thailand Levels. My Favorite, Second to Jan Mayan Island. Shrensh
@Shrensh--good to see you! Love the pics! Glad to hear Windows 7 isn't a problem. Good to see you too Yup, the game is running pretty well so far. It even recognises the extra buttons on my 5-button mouse, which is a bonus. Not all games do that (I'm looking at you, Dead Space 1 & 2). I've finished the first section of Thailand. I haven't even looked at the treasures and relics, so I have no idea if I've collected them all. Probably not, I'm not very good at finding stuff... Thailand... so beautiful and peaceful. I'm sure I'll have a lovely time here. AARRRRGGGHHHH!!!! SPIDERS!!!!!! GET THEM OFF GETTHEMOFFGETTHEMOFF!!! Beautiful scenery, but somewhat framerate-murdery. Stovepipe jumping... I'm rubbish at timing this properly. I just keep mashing the jump button and Lara figures it out on her own. Action shot, woo-hoo! I like this picture because the one tiger's halfway through that wall, and the other tiger has a really goofy expression on its face. Hello Kali & Shiva. Mmmm... It's high up here... I just can't help myself... Splat! Stupid bats, why do you always have to attack when I'm trying to balance on things? First spiders, then tigers and bats, now lizards. What is up with the wildlife here?! This room... Urgh, I always get totally lost here, and this time was no exception. After going around in circles for a while, I've found a couple of big crystals. I'll just shove them into my backpack and find a way out of this place. Mmmm... block pushing... Now to jump down this lovely-looking hole. Right after I've finished squashing these spiders... JBTRPlayer
Nice Screens and Commentary, Shrensh! And, now for my brief report on Protected by the Dead. I've always adored this brief level. The unknown truth of what lies beneath the crypt in Croft Manor, the dark atmosphere of the chapel underneath, and not to mention the countless bats and spiders that we are all so fond of. Up to this point, I have found every treasure, except one that I happened to miss in Thailand, as well as collecting all three relics that are available up to this level. I also experienced a glitch where the cutscene where the manor explodes after coming from the ruins, and everything from the prologue I did was still there, which did save some time... Anyway... On to the screens. ;----------------------------------------------------------------; Some Nice Views that Occur throughout the level I believe I've said this before, but if Crystal spent half as much time on the storyline as they did on their scenery, Tomb Raider would be up to the standard that so many fans expect, and where it should've been for six-eight years since Crystal Dynamics even took over and began work on Legend. ;----------------------------------------------------------------; "Drop it Zip, or I'll Drop You..." ;----------------------------------------------------------------; Lara and the Infamous Doppelganger ;----------------------------------------------------------------; "I need Thor's Belt to Get His Hammer, and I Need the Hammer, to Kill A God..." ;----------------------------------------------------------------; Through all of the ups and downs that this game brings to those who play it, I think all fans can agree that this is is the most memorable level in the game, as well as a major turning point. As well as the fact that we can feel saddened by seing Croft Manor in such a terrible condition as seen in this level. Oh well, on that note... Next Stop, Southern Mexico and Xibalba. ;----------------------------------------------------------------; P.S. To those who actually read and follow my updates, I'm sorry that I have a lot to say and comment on when it comes to this game, and I am very passionate about my Tomb Raider, so I try my best to not leave out a single detail. Anyway, thanks for reading, and back to the game for me.
Eldin
Croft Manor is over! Oh, what to say about this level? Hmm, well its not my favorite level that is for sure As I told before, I like to explore ruins in Tomb Raider and I think that this level is that. I like it, but spiders ohh... ( no comment ) And a lot of emotions in this level, first Lara's father than death of her friend Let's see what we got here Light, please. What the hell, Lara use your flashlight that is on your backpack!! Well, Lara you are really rich woman...you can make new house underground Hello, Lara! Laraaa, look up there!!! Yes my dear, you are not Thor after all My,God! What is going on Lara! Thank you very much Zip, now I see that you are not my friend at all. When I first played TRU and saw this picture, somehow I knew that game won't have good ending. What the hell, who are you?? I will make her pay I promise You are a strong woman! And yes, I did find all the treasures. Well nothing that I am proud of, this level is way to easy for me so this was very easy to get too. Shrensh
Nice Screens and Commentary, Shrensh! Thanks P.S. To those who actually read and follow my updates,I'm sorry that I have a lot to say and comment on when it comes to this game, and I am very passionate about my Tomb Raider, so I try my best to not leave out a single detail. Anyway, thanks for reading, and back to the game for me. I don't know about anyone else, but I love reading other people's views on the game and looking at their pictures. Keep it up Another update for the end of the Thailand section. Plunging down a deep hole and trying not to die. Unsuccessfully. Hmmmm... What's this then? Woo-hoo, I knew this thing would give me super powers! But it only works on a certain type of rock. Perhaps I can grind the rock up into a paste and spray it on everything... Yeah, that would be fully awesome! The plot thickens... Doing my superhero thing. Shooting bats again. I think I must've killed off the entire population of bats in Thailand. I don't know why they want to attack me so much; maybe they're rabid. Fortunately I've had all my shots. Awww, my magic glove has stopped working :-( I don't suppose it's compatible with my mobile phone charger... Oh, it's that stupid move where you have to swing and then jump backwards off a wall. I hate this move with the burning passion of a thousand suns. At least you only have to do it once in this game. Yes, I have emerged into daylight once more! I'm not terribly fond of Alastair, but this line makes me laugh a lot. Sailing back to England in my fancy boat. I love being rich.
JBTRPlayer
Ah... Southern Mexico. Probably the longest level in the game, and certainly with the most treasures to discover. Definitely have to take this one level by level so I don't do something stupid and have to start over completely. Starting with The Unnamed Days, we find Lara in a dark, dense, rainy jungle in the middle of Southern Mexico. Lovely scenery reminiscent to Thailand in some instances will accompany you on your ventures through the dark ruins of Mexico. In my opinion, I think the worse part of this level is definitely the panthers, as they are much tougher than the tigers from Thailand and are much more overpowering in strength and in numbers. And now on to my screens. ;----------------------------------------------------------------------; Some nice, dense, jungle scenery for you ;----------------------------------------------------------------------; A Close call on the way into the ruins of Xibalba ;----------------------------------------------------------------------; Coming up, is Xibalba that is possibly the longest level in the whole game, as well as the most challenging... Even more challenging then the last to levels in the Arctic Sea Levels, Yggdrasil and Out of Time. Oh well... I'm calling it quits for the day and will continue tomorrow after school... I need a break from the constant exploration of Underworlds...
BerryFlap
I took a lot of screenshots so what better to do than to make a giant so-big-it-needed-to-be-seperated-into-4-pieces montage?! Please excuse the size and the sarcastic comments... I'll try and cut down on that for the next level I haven't included the first part (Croft Manor) because I'll have plenty of time to screenshot the manor in the later levels and I didn't realise Windows 7 doesn't have the ability to screenshot fullscreen games... But yea
Mute2Conversations
God, you guys are all going to be finished by the time I finish Mediterranean Sea. I'm afraid that since I spend so much time working and studying on the computer these days, my game playing has slowed down. I just can't stand to look at a TV screen after looking at the computer screen for so long. Besides, Underworld is intense for me, so I can't play it for very long anyway. @Eldin--thanks for that screenshot of the portrait. I never noticed that! Shrensh
Nice pictures, RaiderAlice! I finished Croft Manor earlier. Update Part 1: Down we go into the lovely crypt... Well well, looks like we've found a creepy hidden room under the house. Oh no, not spiders again! Are spiders this big even native to England? Where on earth did they come from?! I'm calling the exterminator as soon as I get back upstairs! Puzzle-solving, or, in my case, randomly pulling levers until something happens. Jumping through the doors before they close! Oh hey, loot! Let's see what on this tape player... Daddy! *sob sob* Thralls? What the hell are those? They killed six of you? And you brought them back here?! Oh well, I'm sure they can't possibly be alive after all this time. Oooh, shiny... Now I have two pieces of the set! I wonder if I get a stats bonus for that? AAAAHHHHGGHHH!!! These things have been under the house all along?! What if they got out?! Daddy, I love you and all, but you are completely insane. Ouch! That's going to leave a mark. Take that, stupid skeleton dog thing! See me pushing this massive block of stone. I'm so awesome. Man, the batteries in these magic gloves are rubbish. Incidentally, there's a place in the Thrall room where if you stand, the Thralls lose track of Lara. It's rather fiddly to get right though, and I usually end up getting mauled worse trying to pull it off than if I just fought the thralls normally. Part 2 to follow... Shrensh
Croft Manor update part 2... You maniacs! You blew it... oh wait, I've already done that joke :-( Oh well, at least the fire should kill all the spiders. Now I'm really in a bad mood. I will fire you! By firing at you! HA HA HA HA HA! What a pretty vase. I'm sure it's very old and valuable. Well, I'm in an extremely foul mood, and this place is a total wreck anyway... *smash* Tee hee hee hee hee! Uh-oh, I have a bad feeling about this... Ok, now that is creepy. Oh lord, an evil twin. Could my day get any worse? I had to ask... I WILL SHOOT YOU IN THE FACE! OUCH! Well that didn't go at all according to plan. So tragic *sniff* YEAH, YOU BETTER RUN! NEXT TIME I WON'T LET YOU OFF SO EASY! I'll tell you what it wasn't: it wasn't ME. Seriously. She has a different hairstyle, different hair colour, different clothes, and, oh, she looks like she's made of rancid meat! Screw you guys, I'm going to Mexico. CaityFM
WOAH HI THERE! Sorry I've taken so long! Prologue/Le Med (PS2) I remember way back when I first played Underworld, I was so confused by the prologue. I was thinking "OH my gosh what how oh my gosh CROFT MANOR STOP IT STOP BURNING GAH" Now I just run through it as fast as possible so I can start the actual game so I can weep over the fire later. The med level has always been by far the most boring for me, at least the first part of it anyway. All swimming and no fun! I do really enjoy killing the kraken though, even if it is a majestic creature and would have probably been the most amazing marine discovery ever. Then again, Lara has probably ruined a lot of would-be discoveries! xD I'm sure she would think of it as "cleaning them out" before the more boring explorers started dusting them off. I love being on Amanda's ship, it's the most fun part of the level for me. The dialogue is pretty great. I actually typed out the whole script to this game out once and reenacted it with my Tomb Raider-ignorant friend. She didn't know how to deliver anything xD I just love saying Natla's lines! She's such an interesting character. And darn; the climb up the sinking ship is pretty intense! As a closing thought; I have no idea how Lara found that gauntlet in the ocean after Amanda threw it. That thing would have been long gone if I was the one looking for it. x) Edited February 23, 2012 by CaityFM
Stellalune
Hi, all. It's great to see some of the old gang, along with a few new faces (er, avatars). Welcome, Barrett, Lockey, Alice. And hey, JB, long time no type. I'm playing on Master Survivalist this time just to see if I can still hang. So far so good, but I'll admit I was down to tranqs and pistols by the end of "God of Thunder". I think once I get the hang of the controls and the headshot maneuver again, things will go better. It's been ages since I've played this game, and I kept pressing the damned grenade button by mistake. Missed a couple of treasures and had to go back for them. I always forget the one hidden in the corner in the room with the skinny columns after you get (and lose) the gauntlet. But I eventually got 26/26 plus the relic, so yay! Anyway, I finished the Med tonight and moved into Thailand, but haven't gotten too far in that level yet. It's so pretty. I just want to stand around and admire the view. I'm not taking as many screenshots as I usually do. I'm playing on the laptop this time, so the quality isn't that good. You guys seem to be doing a great job in that department, though. Shrensh, you always manage to crack me up at least once a post--sometimes more. Keep it up. Couple oddball observations: Is it just me, or does Jarngreipr look like a baby turle? It's a small thing, but one of my favorite features of this game is the ability to shoot while climbing. What I wouldn't give to be able to do that in TR1, 2, 3, etc.
Stellalune
This is my angry face. LOL! I never noticed that expression until this play-through. It's like a cross between angry, puzzled and frustrated. Like not again. Why me? Sigh...! I played a little bit past opening the door, but I got too whoozy and had to stop. My last save (because I don't think I can save manually in Xbox) was just after opening the door. So I'll start off there again. Of course I don't wish it on anybody, but it's kind of nice to know I'm not the only one who gets a little sick during the underwater sequences. I guess part of it is the realism. You really feel like you're floating. I'm glad to be on dry land now. And don't worry about playing slowly, I'm in the same boat. (Bad nautical pun intended. ) As a closing thought; I have no idea how Lara found that gauntlet in the ocean after Amanda threw it. That thing would have been long gone if I was the one looking for it. x) I'm with you on that. You see a little splash where it hits the water, but I can't believe Lara can find something so tiny once it starts sinking.
Marluxia15
I know. I know. It's about time I joined in the fun! I have to first start by saying: @Alice - your "just keep swimming" picture had me ROFL at 2AM! HILARIOUS! @Stella - Excellent boat pun. ;D I watched the cinematic trailer before I started playing. It makes me really nostalgic. Underworld was what got me back into Tomb Raider. I played most of the games as a kid (god I hated 40 Fathoms) - but didn't realize the series had moved on with Anniversary, Legend, etc. I still remember thinking when I saw the cinematic trailer - what the *beep* just happened? Lara's mansion is like the limbo of Tomb Raider. You go there while you're playing the game, but before you start the adventure. It's every raider's "happy place". Why would she blow it up? But that question was resolved after awhile. Enough rambling. Time to pull out the big guns and play some Underworld. I'm playing on Master Survivalist and plan on utilizing melee more. I was always afraid of getting too close to the baddies. I also want to max out my achievements (*ehem* Xbox reigns supreme *ehem*) This also means I need to find ALL of the treasures. Good thing we have a walkthrough writer handy. So Croft Manor is burning to the ground. I sang a verse of "London's Burning" while playing. I've decided that the next time I come across one of those briefcase-health packs, I'm going to pull out my binoculars and check them out for anything that might distinguish them as a health pack. Otherwise Lara's getting healed by a briefcase...and that's just weird. @Mute2Conversations - I see what you mean about the water. While I'm not getting nauseous from looking at it, it does make me feel slightly dizzy. While exploring the ocean floor, I had to turn my light on. My one friend bought Underworld, and he always called it the "boob light". For clarification, I will share with you guys what I shared with him: It's a clip-on. Does anyone else feel tension when they swim near the jellyfish? I got stung by a jellyfish once. That might be a contributing factor. The developers could have tortured us with hiding artifacts on the ocean floor. Instead they gave us nice little rooms to look around. <3 Well here I am! I'm going to progress a little tomorrow and pull out the old camera for some pictures. *thumbs up*
Shrensh
I love being on Amanda's ship, it's the most fun part of the level for me. I agree; the ship bit is definitely my favourite part of the Mediterranean level. Is it just me, or does Jarngreipr look like a baby turle? [pic] LOL! I never noticed that before, but now that you mention it, yeah it does LOL! I never noticed that expression until this play-through. It's like a cross between angry, puzzled and frustrated. Like not again. Why me? Sigh...! LOL, I just had to post a picture of it, she just looks so annoyed. (Bad nautical pun intended. ) I didn't have a problem with this game, but FPS games usually give me monster motion sickness. I think Portal 2 might have cured that though, since I managed to play all the way through that game, and I managed to play through the whole Half-Life series afterwards using the same method I used to reduce my motion sickness during Portal. I've finished the first section of the Mexico level, so here's my latest update Here I come to destroy the cultural heritage of Mexico! Oh, look what I found: a massive great cat head! I know where to put this! Man, this Backpack of Holding is the best thing I ever bought. And I'm being attacked by the wildlife again. I swear Zip soaks my clothes in meat or something. Well, let's go and see what else we can find here. Oh, I've found a corpse. How very ominous. Now what on earth is the point of these spike pits? I think someone built them just to annoy me personally. Are you getting in between me and treasure? Now you must die! Ha ha ha, have I mentioned how much I love sticky grenades? AAAHHHH I KILL YOU ALL!!! ... oh, sorry, I though I heard a bat... My bad... Ah-ha! The second piece of the puzzle! I'll just stuff this in my backpack and we can get going. A stunning display of athleticism! Stick this on here, and we can get going to the next area. Trying not very sucessfully to remember how to do this puzzle... Got it! Now for a stupid timed run. Grumble grumble... And through the doors before they close! I don't know why I dislike timed runs so much, I'm not too bad at them. I think it's just having to repeat the run a few times before I learn how to do it. AAAHHH, SPIKE PIT SPIKE PIT!!!! The land of the dead. Well that sounds cheery. Next up: Midgard Serpent! CaityFM
~Thailand!~ Even on PS2, this level is visually stunning. I love to just look out over the sea for a minute at the start of the level. I'm not sure if Thailand is my first favorite level, but it's certainly in the top 3. I love that part of the world, and I love to study Hinduism. I actually have an "Om" symbol pendant that was made in Nepal that I wear all the time. Every time I kill one of those blasted tigers, I can't help but feel bad for helping them go extinct. I guess it's the same mentality as with the kraken. I think it's very clever how the ruins end up sitting on top of the Niflheim-type ruins. I always praise the creators of these games for tying so many different cultures in with each other. Those Naga though! They die, then they aren't dead, then they're dead. Killing them once is like shooting a zombie in the leg- it just doesn't work. I always end up thinking I've killed them all only to turn around to 3 more of them getting back up. Pretty intense. When Lara reads the rock her dad carved for natla I'm always like "OH HO HO THE PLOT THICKENS!" I realize I didn't write very much for this level x) I'm saving all my wild typing for the croft manor tragedy.
Mute2Conversations
PUKE LEVEL CONTINUED...OH, I MEAN THE MEDITERRANEAN LEVEL (also called the Migraine Level) I hate the long loading time. When I saw the octopus, I thought, *Homer Simpson moan* "Hmmmmm....Calamari. Let's have that for dinner tonight! I wish Costco hadn't gotten rid of that brand where I felt like I was ripping the tentacle off a live squid myself." The octopus might be blind, but his hearing was good. I nearly got slapped a few times. PANIC! I RAN OUT OF AMMO! But oh wait! I found out by mistake (you aren't the only one who accidentally presses the sticky grenade button, Stella) that grenades work on breaking the chains for that spikey chandelier that we use to kill the octopus. Why does my boob light keep shutting off? (Your friend's phrase is catchy, Hunter...what can I say?) It always goes off after a cutscene. There are a lot of illegal slopes in this game. I got caught in one and couldn't stop Lara from getting jiggy with it for a minute or two. Just when I thought I would have to restart, she jumped out of it. I'm certain Lara is not using proper lifting techniques with those blocks that we use to weigh down the floor pads. Tsk, tsk. She is going to be feeling that later. That area where we jump on the pillars is always a hard one for me. I always miss a couple of times. However, I guess I can't blame Lara--her equilibrium is probably off after getting conked on the head. That jump over the area where the octopus was, I was singing as I swung, "Swing set! Swing set! Up and down I go! Swoosh goes the whirly wind up and down my toes!" FINALLY, we leave the water level behind! I emerge, get onto the boat. I see Amanda's ship. I'm thinking, "Why does that scrawny b**** have a bigger boat than me?" I also love boat levels, and that is why I stopped here. I wanted to save that level for another day. @Hunter--I keep swimming into jellyfish in the first part of this level when we have to find the keys. @Caity--my! Either I'm going senile or you've changed! I thought you were really big into killing things when I first met you (in video games)
Marluxia15
Well I'm ticked. I went through the whole Mediterranean level and had about an hour's worth of writing on here. When I went to add my pictures, LCO freaked out on me and became unresponsive. I refreshed...and then *BAM*...no more post. Here's a recap: I found all artifacts and the one relic. The Kraken has a very long arm that scares me every single time. I dominated some sharks. I loved sprinting through the ruined halls of Niflheim. I love how when balancing on a beam, Lara can somersault. It was something new I discovered. I only died three/four times. Two were stupid camera issues. One was intentional. One was...by a shark. :/ It's getting late - so I'll add my cool pics tomorrow in a separate post (that way my current post doesn't get deleted). As Lara would say, "Ta!" Shrensh
Well I'm ticked. I went through the whole Mediterranean level and had about an hour's worth of writing on here. When I went to add my pictures, LCO freaked out on me and became unresponsive. I refreshed...and then *BAM*...no more post. I feel your pain. I've learned from bitter experience that when I'm typing a long post on a message board, I should copy it out frequently in case my internet connection drops when I'm trying to post, or the board randomly decides to eat it or something. I've just finished the next bit of Mexico, so here another update: The first time I played Underworld I encountered a bug in which this ramp here was lowered, stopping me in my tracks. Luckily I had a save from the beginning of the level, and re-doing the level fixed the bug. No problems this time as the TR:U patch fixes this particular bug. AAAAAGGGGHHHHH! GIANT SPIDER!!! KILL IT KILL IT!!! Oh, it turns out that these spiders aren't so dangerous after all. In fact, they're quite cute. Look at them trying to wake up their little friend. I will take them home and they will be my pets and I'll feed them and I'll walk them and I'll change their little hutches, and if I decide I don't like them, I'll kill them. Oh good, so this bit isn't going to be at all dangerous then. AAAHHHH GIANT SPIDERS GIANT SPIDERS!!! These guys are a bit more agresssive then their friends up the corridor. Upside-down action shot! See me firing my guns and doing a somersault at the same time! I'm doing a handstand on this ledge just to show how not afraid of heights I am. These guys use skeletons in all of their decorating. They should think about maybe using some flowers or sparkly stones or something. You know, brighten the place up a bit. Just because it's a hellish death trap doesn't mean it can't look nice. Crushy rock trap, run run!!! Whew, made it past that! Well, I'll just shove this thing into my backpack. Ha ha ha, eat motorcycle, stupid spider! Death by quicktime event :-( Hooray, firey timed jumping puzzle bit... Yeah, I'm not so good at these. Well, that's the last piece of this puzzle, time to open the exit. Stick this here... ... and open the exit! Let's go and see what exciting and wonderful things await us down this staircase! And at this point Lara's motorcycle got stuck on some rocks, and I could neither move it nor dismount. We'll just exit the game and take a little break here then. Henry
I bought the PS2 version when it came out for $29, recently a friend gave me his 360 for free and yesterday my 360 game arrived, only cost me $10 (Canadian). So far I'm at the big octopus creature. I think the big difference in game versions is the lighting and detail plus the soundtrack. I played my PS2 game up to the same game spot as the 360 and it was similar but different in ways. In the Mediterranean there's no fish or sharks, all is quiet. Controlling Lara is much harder on PS2, trying to make her go where you want her to and when it comes to the balance beams, she's hopeless, as soon as I step on the beam she bends 90 degrees sideways. You don't get the flashlight in PS2, no dark shadowy areas. Got some achievements for the Mediterranean, including master grenade thrower and master climber. 16 out of 26 treasures and 1 of 1 relic. Onto Coastal Thailand. Style choice: Jungle long pants. The PS2 version didn't have any spiders if I remember correct and not as many tigers. At the statues of Shiva and Kali I got a bit confused trying to figure area out and ended up going down the one way square hole with grapple, figuring maybe I shouldn't of done that I reloaded a save that took me to the start of unhooking the lift down. The auto saves on the 360 game are screwy, and not updated so I can't load a auto because they go way back to the Mediterranean areas, would have been handy to reload to just before dropping down the hole, but it seems I have to do that anyway (had to look it up).
