Blade Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 So I have been running windows 8.1 since last year. Yesterday i get notice on my computer, from microsoft, that i get a free upgrade to windows 10 when it becomes available later this year. All i had to do is reserve my upgrade. So anyone else here that runs windows 7,the latest windows 7 update, or windows 8.1, don't miss out on reserving your upgrade. You can't beat getting a whole new operating system upgrade for free. Tom@LCO Posted June 2, 2015 Report Posted June 2, 2015 On my Windows 7 pc's after a recent update there was a Windows icon on the tool bar. When I clicked on it, if you want the update just enter your email and on July 29th you'll be offered the upgrade for free. Quote
Blade Posted July 30, 2015 Author Report Posted July 30, 2015 Microsoft can keep their stupid Windows 10. Up until yesterday my computer was good to go for the upgrade. When i clicked on the little white window in the taskbar, i get a message saying that i can't upgrade. My graphics card wasn't made to support Windows 10. Its like having a door slammed in your face, i was really disappointed. Quote
Tom@LCO Posted July 30, 2015 Report Posted July 30, 2015 So you get a new card . They're not expensive. I updated all my windows pc's last night and one is about 6 years old. Quote
Blade Posted July 30, 2015 Author Report Posted July 30, 2015 Well I spoke too soon. I went and downloaded from microsoft their media creation tool. I used that to not only download, but to install and upgrade to Windows 10. It is running just fine. So much for my rant earlier. Quote
Tom@LCO Posted July 30, 2015 Report Posted July 30, 2015 I did the same thing but only to have back up media for the future. Made DVD and USB versions. Quote
Tom@LCO Posted August 9, 2015 Report Posted August 9, 2015 I cannot stress enough to make a backup copy of Windows 10 if you upgraded on either usb stick or dvd or both. Media Creation Tools are here. If anything happens or you want to restore it someday you have it handy. I have used the usb stick version and it's asks for product keys with options to skip and it activated without them. This instance was a surface pro 2 using Windows 10 pro. Go to your Windows system to find your version of Windows. Quote
Morph Posted August 18, 2015 Report Posted August 18, 2015 I upgraded to Windows 10 a couple of days ago, but for some reason the system revoked all administrative access, so I wasn't even able to open my registry or anything. I've rolled back to Windows 7 for now...I think I'll wait until they iron out the worst bugs. Apart from that though, it's looking good. Quote

Tom@LCO Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 I haven't tested them but all of my oldest programs work under windows 10. Quote
