Epic vs Steam

I know with Steam you have to login and launch your game via the steam app, is Epic games the same?

I would like just run Tomb Raider I-III Remastered standalone and play it on my PC without having to be online or login.

Check this place out Gog ,  I read the only downside is the game saves are saved only in the cloud. Might be as close to offline as you are going to get.
