I downloaded a Trial Version of a game from MSN yesterday. I also accidentally closed it, so now i can't download it anymore without it saying "Your Trial Version Has Expired".

I have tried changing my IP, though not sure i am doing that properly.

I have uninstalled & searched/deleted everything else relevant to it.

Then Blade & I had a convo about the Registry Key: the game is made by Oberon & i do have a folder in the Registry for Oberon. However i do also "Own" a game by the same company. I don't know how to know "what" to delete, or even if i should.

Anyway, was hoping that someone might know a way for me to get rid of any & all info on this game & be able to download the Trial Version again........

Ok, try this. Unintstall everything to do with the game you downloaded. Then go to start> Run > and type in %Temp%

Delete all that, and then delete your entire internet history. That should work!

I have tried deleting EVERYTHING that has to do with the game, i have tried deleting history, deleting Temp Files....

I have tried a restore.......

I have tried resetting my IP.........

nothing seems to be working

Do a file search for .ini files. If you know the possible file names, this search will go much faster. Try the game's name, followed by .ini or a shortened version of the game's name, followed by .ini. It'll probably be somewhere in your Windows folder, but a file search of the hard drive is a good idea. Then open the ini file using notepad. See if it's the game you're looking for. Here's the tricky part: Just in case you're wrong, don't delete the ini file. I usually rename it something obvious, like:

stupid.ini

also, there may be .dll's used, but sometimes these are shared, so you may want to try the ini file first. Another option is to look for

gamename.log

Most programs look there to see if a version's been installed before. Rename these, like I showed you. Then empty all Temp & Temp Internet files (even if you've already done it). Reboot your system & try again. Hope it helps!

Well, i didn't find anything in the .ini, .log, or .dll But since i have already done searches to wipe out everything with the game name, etc, i may have deleted them "if" they were there.

Also here are 2 shots of what my Temp file looks like, before i start deleting things, cause i have NO IDEA what half this stuff is or means, LOL:

Well, since not all your files can be shown, due to scroll bars, I can't be sure of all that you have. If you'd like, we can use remote desktop connection through msn. I can look at your files, and go through them step-by-step. It'd take about 1/2 hour to an hour tops. If you're worried about my credentials, I'm a certified computer programmer, and the head tech person at my library. I'm also certified in Windows, but Win 98 -- haven't coughed up the $$ for the XP test fee yet. I fixed my sister's computer from several states away! You can also allow me view control, with no access to change anything, and then you can delete what you want. In the meantime, please pm me the title of the game you want, along with the titles you don't, and I'll research the install files they come with. Whew! That's a long post, lol.

P.S. I'd need a time that's good for you, EST is my time zone.
