Creepy moments

Featured Replies

It's hard to name just a couple of levels, so I'll go for each game:

TR2: Temple of Xian

-the traps made me jump out of my skin, tigers that seem to just spring out of nowhere

the spiders! (I have a phobia for spiders *shudders*)

TR3: tie between Aldwych and Lost City of Tinnos

Aldwych was dark and gloomy, and that train was enough to cause me a heart attack

LCoT: creepy mutants (you couldn't hide from them *gulp*)

TR4 Tomb of Semerkhet

dark and scary, may I say more?

TR5 Gallows Tree

I have to admit it- those little white fellas scared the heck outta me

TR6: Galleries Under Siege

-the fear of guards following my every move, and Lara didn't have unlimited ammo..

So, let's hear of those places that made you jump out of your skin :D

i never found like the atmosphere creepy, but a lot of things made me jump when i was little like falling into spikes or an enemy jumping out, things like that

Gah, and I searched on the forum, guess I didn't spot it.

If the mods think it should be closed no problem, do so.

Well, this thread has a slightly different theme, and since the other thread hasn't been posted in for about six months now I think it should be okay to leave this one open.

I agree about Aldwych being creepy. I jumped out of my skin the first time I played TR3 and the train would come out of nowhere and mow Lara down  And the abandoned Underground station setting is just so eerie atmospheric.

Those demon babies on Gallows Tree :o They still freak me out, and Lara doesn't even have any weapons to defend herself! Definitely the scariest part of Chronicles.

I thought the Sanitarium and Maximum Containment Area levels of AoD were very creepy. I jumped out of my chair and cursed very loudly when one of those spiky mutants snuck up behind Kurtis while I was playing

There was always 'something' that freaked me out in each TR game:

TR1 - The walls of Atlantis were freaky ... looking at them now it just looks like someone has used bacon as wallpaper :P

TR2 - Sunken ship ... It was oh-so-quiet and then a flamethrower dude would appear from nowhere and fry Lara! Not good!

TR3 - London ... I hated the dark, damp underground levels...

TR4 - Most of it! Haha! It was quite dark and scary being alone in the Egyptian tombs!

TR5 - Black isle ... everything was eerie; the darkness, the surroundings, the owl sounds!

TR6 - The Sanitarium ... these were freaky...especially those thingies in straight-jackets!

TR7 - This game was not scary at all...but the England levels were a bit...blah

Haha!

of the tombraider games played to date scariest parts:

TR2 one memerable time when in Bertoli's hideout when climbing up the lights and a guy just appeared at the time I climbed up the block. totally wasn't expecting that. and the floating islands totally freaky and the deck/wreck of the Maria Doria. and the big spiders in the cave thingie.

AOD: Boaz, trying to kill a huge bug that runs at you. eugh reminds me of Harry potter and the chamber of secrets game when the huge spider runs at you *shudder* (fear of spiders) i know i hear it too (cough... sad) lol

Legend: if there was a scary level it was probally kazakhstan with the unknown enitity running around after you at the end.

Why must there be big bugs  AAHHHH

Tomb Raider 1 -

Cautiously walking into the stable in The City of Vilcabamba and breathing a sigh of relief when there's nothing nasty inside, only to have that huge bear come out behind you!

The T-Rex in The Lost Valley... 'Nuff said.

The mummy in the Tomb of Qualopec. The way it does nothing but look at you messed with my head, and I jumped out of my skin when it fell over!

Tomb Raider 2 -

Catacombs of the Talion, dark room of yetis... again, 'nuff said.

All of the Maria Doria levels were really creepy... Especially when you realised you were on the ceiling! I found it very reminiscent of The Poseidon Adventure/Titanic/Ghost Ship.

Tomb Raider 3 -

The first time I saw the lizard man (Madabu Gorge) I screamed. It made me jump so badly and they're so freaky!

Aldwych had a really creepy atmosphere and the trains were scary. Apart from scaring the crap out of you and being really nervewracking to try and outrun, they seemed so out of place on the abandoned train station level, like a ghost train.

The remains of Randy and Rory were so awesomely disturbing too. When you catch sight of them you wonder what it is, and then you take a closer look and realise and it's so shocking! It was really mysterious, making you wonder how the guy is being suspended like something out of the exorcist, and wtf did that to them. And then you're really on edge, just waiting for something equally nasty to happen to you!

Andddd the rest of the games didn't really scare me.

I HOPE THEY MAKE THEM MORE SCAREY :angry2:

why

more exciting, gets your heart racing and makes the game seem so much more better. But i must say that the days of being neally squashed by a rolling bolder is not challenging or scary i think that CD needs to think more and be more creative

OK,so which scared me most in the TR games?Hmm...

TR1:

Lost Valley

Runninng away from the T-Rex maked me very nervous

TRUB(Unfinished Business):

I think Temple Of The Cat

Cos,well it was and and in one moment i had to run away from many baddies!

TR2:

The Wreck Levels nad Floating Islands

(Wreck)It was creepy and dark

[(Floating Islands)In the beging]Watching out not to fall while jump creeped me out;(after the islands in the palace)Those stone worriors were very tuff to fight with

TRGM(Golden Mask):

Furnace Of The Gods

I felt alone without fighting so often enemies in the level and that creeped me

TR3:

Lost City Of Tinnos

(LCOT)It was long,dark and those mutants...so straong(I didn't had amunitions with me :( )

TRLA(Lost Artifact):

Highland Fling,Willard's Lair,Shakespeare Cliff,Sleeping with the Fishes,It's a Madhouse

~Dark levels~

TR4:

The City Of The Dead and all levels after it and the Citadel

These levels where dark. Before i got in the Citadel the levels in the City-the bull...that monster gaurding the Citadel's entrance and the machine guns where enough for me.And there was the Citadel-a dark level. What creeped me the most were the knights at the end!

TR5:

Hmm....well those white demons and the sea creature which was guarding the silver coin.

TR6:

The Sanitarium,Maximum Containment Area and Boaz Returns

It's not because of Kurtis, but it's the enemies. In the Sanitarium and The Maximum Containment Area were those crazy people[the monster!?...that mouse(I said mouse cos its easy to kill ;))]

And in Boaz Returns it's clear.

TR7:

Well,it wasn't creepy maybe only the Cornwall(England) level was dark and that stuff...

boaz returns wasn't scary in my eyes.

It was more like *(#&^$@()*_%&_)+@&*%^*@#$^@)_#)+ or somkind

In terms of what got a jolt out of me the first time around:

TR-1: "Atlantis" (Eggs suddenly hatching mutants will do it).

TR-1a(UB): Tie between "Atlantean Stronghold" and "The Hive" (for similar reasons).

TR-2: The dragon right at the end.

TR-2a(GM): Nightmare in Vegas

TR-3: Aldwitch Station (the sudden appearance of an oncoming train is a very good candidate).

TR-3a(LA): A tie between "Shakespeare Cliff" and "It's a Madhouse".

TR-4(LR): The Mastabas

TR-5(CHR): The Labyrynth (everyone seems to agree that the Demon Babies are something to be avoided).

TR-6: The Sanitarium and The Maximum Containment Area (you try dealing with wierdos and monstrosities suddenly appearing in "hug-me" jackets.

TR-7: England in Cornwall (those two giant dragon-like creatures did me no favors).

  • 2 weeks later...

TR1: The Great Pyramid HUGE MUTANT

TR2:Probably Great Wall because of all the traps

TR3:I haven't played it.

TR4: Burial Chambers really DARK and dogs and mummies

TR5: Have to be Labyrinth Skeletons, Monsters, Mysterious Shrouded Figures! :o

TR6: Didn't Play much of it 'til it crashed -_-

TR7: Has to be Nepal loads of scary snow leopards and tons of mercs round the corner!

  • 2 weeks later...

TR 1: I got scared when Lara entered the room with the bridges & the wolves underneath barking, they really scared me haha. The Lost Valley level, T-Rex... must I say more. And probably the levels with the bacon dudes on.

TR 2: Floating Islands *shivers* I didn't like those flying men, scary! And the one with the yetis

TR 3: Haven't got passed the first level dispite the fact I lost the game.

TR 4: None

TR 5: The one where younger Lara is stuck on that island by herself it's all dark & creepy (Can't remeber the name, I haven't played on it in ages plus it's not even mine)

TR 6: I got scared in the graveyard where you've gotta find the Louis dude, the dog made me jump out of my skin and I thought if I open one of those crypt doors and dead body will run out!

TR 7: Nothing scary about it but I was abit nervous on the England level and the Peru level where you see the Unknown Entity
