Running games more smoothly on PC

Featured Replies

Some tips to run games more stable...

I (Fusion) didn't Write all of this (I just added bits for it to make sense and removed pieces of other languages.) So I cant really help if there is a problem and doing any modifications to your PC configuration you do so at your own risk. If you don't know what your doing don't do it.

Hypothetically say I got a very low FPS-Rate (Frames / Second): (Will make the game jumpy and slow when playing the game)

This can happen due several reasons. Some tips;

-Make sure you got the last/latest version of DirectX.

(start -> Run -> type dxdiag and click OK-> the window will open, you will find your DirectX version after DirectX version:

-Install all last windows updates:

http://update.microsoft.com/microsof....aspx?ln=en-us

-Install the last driver for your main-board.

-Install the last driver for your graphics card.

-If you got little blocks in your screen, then make sure your card isn't overclocked or isn't getting to hot.

-Install more memory (CHECK THE TYPE YOU NEED BEFORE YOU BUY IT!!!). Recent games like DoomIII, Half-Life 2, CoD II, BFII, F.E.A.R., need at least 512MB Ram to run at an acceptable speed.

If you got 512 or more memory, then you shouldn't be in trouble of that.

-De-fragment your hard drive.

(Start->all programs->accessories->system tools->disk defragmenter)

My screen turns black when I open a game, what should I do?

- First, make sure that you got a powerful, stable power supply. If you are planning to buy an other one, then make sure that you got at least 450W from a decent company like Coolermaster etc.

- Check the temperatures of your computer. Especially the graphics card can become very hot if it's being cooled in a bad way.

- Remove the dust in/on your FAN

- Check, in case of water cooling , that the pressure is still high enough.

- Try to set your monitor (Only CRT) to 60Hz

(Click right on your desktop -> properties -> settings -> advanced -> Monitor/screen -> Monitor/screen settings: Screen refresh rate)

and try to start the game again.

Graphics card drivers:

Always remove the old driver first (Start->Configuration panel->Software) and restart your computer!
