Featured Replies

I posted this in my other forum

hi, I have a serious problem, I just got disconnected from IE I used the netdiag.exe tool to check connections it tells me that there is a problem with winsock catalogue. I restored winsock to default settings and restarted about half an hour later the samething happened i restarted agin and found out that winsock is a corrupt registry key immediatly scanned with registry repair wizard 2007 and removed all problems and it just happened again. I searched with on microsoft and there are guides and stuff but they usually dont work. Does anyone have any suggestions? All will be greatfull recieved.

thanks in advance

Edit: here is the detdiag report

info All base service provider entries are present in the Winsock catalog.

info The Winsock Service provider chains are valid.

error Provider entry MSAFD Tcpip [TCP/IP] could not perform simple loopback communication.

Error 10057. error Provider entry MSAFD Tcpip [uDP/IP] could not perform simple loopback communication.

Error 10057.

error Provider entry RSVP UDP Service Provider could not perform simple loopback communication. Error 10057.

error Provider entry RSVP TCP Service Provider could not perform simple loopback communication. Error 10057. error A connectivity problem exists with an installed LSP. action Automated repair: Reset WinSock catalog action Successfully executed: netsh winsock reset catalog info System restart required

also when i was first disconnected a few days ago i used the msn connection troubleshooter cause its quite detailed it said that the DNS and the key ports had a error so i used CMD to flush the DNS resolver and everything was fine for another 30 minutes till the same thing happened. What's wrong here?

It might be sorted i cant be sure till i get disconnected again :( but any help would be good

(I dont expect help but anything would be good just as a after-note I also restored settings manually using CMD)

Hello,

I do have experience working with the Registry system, however when I did it as a job I controlled people's computers through my own so I'm a bit wary of giving you advice incase something goes wrong as a registry is a complex system.

However, I suggest you call the support line for your PC and state the problem to them as they are the experts and if they make a mistake, it's not on your hands incase something does go wrong.

Hope it helps,

MsC

I did make a backup when i formatted my hardrive (yesterday. And already there are problems  ) anyway if anything really goes bad i have a back up i scanned using registry repair wizard and i have no problems with that. Only thing is that i keep getting a error message saying "internet explorer experienced a problem and needs to close" to fix this I disabled the error message reporting but it's not really a solution...

It just went down again (the winsock catalogue)

:angry2: Hi there ,look im no expert but u could try to reinstall IE6 & outlook because they are one program. Also have u thought of installing IE7 , also have u tryed to google your problem as i had trouble with outlook and googling help me so let me know how u got on. :angry2:

heres a web site that helped me www.pcworld.com

Um. I have IE7 which i uninstalled to IE6 again and then reinstalled but still have the same problem. I found a fix which im gonna try but im a little preoccupied at the moment. If anyone wants to know the fix is you have to delete the registry keys then reinstall them (TCP / IP) seems very simple. But if they dont work im officially out of ideas...
