“Our goal with Crysis was to create the most technically ambitious computer game produced to date. What does that mean exactly? Well, technology in games is traditionally pushed in one of two directions. Either towards visual fidelity (comprising polygon throughput, draw distance, animation systems and advanced shader technologies) or, more rarely, towards, through the direction of persistent physical interaction within the game world (so that what you see is what you get, and more importantly can use).

In making Crysis we decided early on to push both directions as far as we could; we invested heavily in the high end in order to create the most visually impressive and immersive experience for players, and to effectively future-proof the game for the next few years. Crysis is pushing about 10x the data we had in FarCry, which is phenomenal.

Like putting the proverbial quart into a pint pot, scaling this back through optimization to our stated goal of rigs 2-3 years old has been a huge challenge, but we are very happy with the results so far and specific tweaks are still happening as I type. omg... 12 GB? That's a huge game!! I bought some RAM recently and I'll have 2GB soon but wow... my processor isn't that fast and that's only the minimum requirements!! Did you try the demo yet??

Yes I did BP --- in the wee early hours of the morning, lol. Took me just under an hour to download.

I took a stealth approach to the demo, which is imho, more fun than just simply blasting away. The demo also allows you to experiment with the nanosuit. I especially like the method that's implemented to equipping your weapon and nanosuit on the fly, very intuitive and quick.

ATM, I have settings on HIGH with no AA with maximum resolution on my monitor, 1920x1200 and the game simply looks stunning ---- and that's on a DX9 configuration; I can't wait to see how it'll look on Vista DX10.

The enemy AI, as expected is amazing; they will investigate, slight movements and sounds made in the bushes; and they will try to outflank you as well. I love it when I simply lie prone hidden in the bushes and allow them to come to me and my scoped line of fire and BAM! right in the forehead, with silencer on of course.
