Tomb Raider: Underworld underwater gameplay footage

Looks pretty good :D I like that you can just swim Lara around without having to constantly look for pockets of air in order to avoid drowning. Although I'm sure they'll be nasty and add one of those bits in somewhere... The giant squid looks pretty impressive too, and you get a look at one of the new "adrenaline moments" that have replaced the interactive cut-scenes.

im not very impressed to be honest, she moves (swims to fast) and the camera looks like its going to be a problem. the only thing I like is how dark the levels are in places, but it makes the light look ineffective. I hope they fix some stuff before they release it.

Oh and the video has been removed. but i got a backup copy http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8GzLUTHMOCs

Thanks for the new link Fusion! I'll edit my post to point to it :)

I don't mind that Lara swims quite fast; if we're going to be spending a lot of time exploring the area I'd prefer that she moves quickly. The camera, I'll just wait until I play the game to see what it's going to be like... It'll probably drive me nuts, but it does that in most games I play. The quality of the video isn't the best to start with, but I'm sure that CD will fix up any lighting and graphics issues before November.

I did manage to catch it before it was removed yesterday, but I think it's extremely unfair to judge the game already from this footage. Clearly, the animations are not finished as you can see from how she jumps, and climbs, etc. This looks like it was from alpha testing rather than beta, which would be back in February time-ish.

Also, the fact that it got removed suggests Eidos did not want it to be seen as it probably was gameplay footage not meant to be shown to the public as it looks a bit messy atm.

I'm confident CD are gonna fix the issues seen in that video like more fluid movement, slower swimming speed, etc, as those features were probably just for magazines to see a quick glimpse.

I'm looking forward to seeing the trailer on Friday and E3's showcase of TR:U today.

Yeah, exactly what Ms. Croft said. It was OBVIOUSLY an old build of the game. Hell, it didn't even look like they had added the motion capture in it. Thank god it got removed (still on YouTube, I'm sure). People would start to assume that it will be another AOD.

I wish I had not have seen it but I'm gonna have faith that the trailer is 90% better. :-)

Hi Shrensh,

Thanks for sharing! It's great to see a bit of the game, even if it's not ready yet! I agree that's early to start complaining and criticizing. Let's wait to see what the result is, I'm sure that with all the amazing screenshots and goodies that are being sent to us, it will be the best game ever!

I can't wait to see some high-quality footage with all the lighting effects and animations and everything completed, because I really liked this early footage. C'mon Eidos, why you make us wait so long...

Apparantely, according to a couple of members at other forums such as the official Eidos one, the footage shown is from pre-alpha, which is even earlier than I thought. Considering they are now in Beta stage and have gone through Alpha, that A LOT will have changed from what we are seeing in this gameplay footage.

The trailer they are showing at E3, which we will see on the 18th of July, will be much more reliable for what the final product will look like, and Eric has even said in his E3 blog that what they're showing at E3 is not even as good as what they have in their comfy offices down at Crystal Dynamics...personally, Friday can't come soon enough for me
