The new Tomb Raider is going to explain what happend to lara and what made here who she is today.

Tomb Raider Origings is the name i see over and over again.

I dont know if you know the story but lara survives a shipwreck and is on a island.

there she needs to survive whit that bow and arrow.

I agree that i would better see the guns then the bow.

What i found really weard is that they are going to explain AGAIN what happend to lara.

They did that in Legend!

Why do it again??

Strange in my opinion.

I love this idea of exploring Lara's past (again).

Lara is something of an enigma; The story of her past in Legend was when she was only a slip of a girl aged 8 or 9. That's no age to be handling firearms nor is it an age to pick a fight with ferocious wildlife! After all she couldn't have been born with dual pistols attached to her legs.

(Then there's the untold events of how she escaped the Himalayan mountains at such a young age without protective clothing or climbing gear!)

TR origins must be set in Lara's late teens or early twenties, If I remember correctly 18 is the age when her father went missing. Now with the inheritance of the Croft family estate and fortune and still troubled by both her mother's disappearance and father's too, she has a drive to fight!

We were all lead to believe that the event's in TR1 was Lara's calling but TR origins must be her true calling! Forced to fight for survival in an unknown territory. So as you can imagine poor Lara is probably ill prepared for what she's letting herself in for...dual pistols might not be part of her tool kit at that moment in time. So she'll have to make do with primitive weaponry like the bow and arrow and machete (which by the way, I'm so excited about!). Perhaps she may discover guns on the island too, that soon become Lara's favourite weapon of choice in her later years.

What I would like, is an established timeline for the last 3 TR games. Because what confuses me is the part in Lara's past when the Tiwanaku tomb incident took place. Where Lara had to leave Amanda buried. Did that take place before or after TR? Although come to think of it Lara wasn't armed in that level..

Well explaind.

If you put it like that it makes me excited aswell.

I hope they still include the grapple hook but a traditional one like the one in Anniversary but can do all the same things the one in underworld did, like the grapple line can go around corners, repel, wall run, swing and pull things about.... They need to include more puzzles involving the grapple line, particularly the going around corners bit... There was a puzzle similar to this in Beneath the ashes where you had to solve a puzzle on the ground using Lara's grapple wrapped around statues to shift the plates Lara was standing on in certain directions so she can form the dragon picture on the floor...So more puzzles like that would be nice (^_^)

I hope they will explain how lara get's her weapons and clothes and everything.

From amateur to master tomb raider.

That is what i would like to see.

Kinda like you already said Chaos.

:D

I've heard rumours that Origins won't be released until early 2011! I really hope it won't be that long. I'm hoping for at the most late 2010 especially now that TR underworld is a year old. The good news is I've also heard a rumour about Origins being co-op compatible! This would be interesting if this turns out to be true!... Considering TR has always been a solo experience ( Except Kurtis Trent, but we don't mention him :P ) I suppose this would another opportunity to introduce new characters from Lara's past, personally I would like to see more of Anaya from Legend since they've been old friends and a nicer innocent version of Amanda as well, lol. Oh and Winston too!

I really hope they don't introduce another playable character because that kind of thing never works. It should all be just about Lara. I hope Lara has some technology and that the game doesn't turn into something like The Sims: Castaway. I don't want to have to make a fire and stupid stuff like that. I just want to explore and hunt things down.

Well, as I said this was only a rumour I heard. Now that I think of it it's unlikely this game will be co-op compatible. It just wouldn't make much sense because she's supposed to be on a deserted island. As for it becoming like The Sims: Castaway (lol) as funny as that sounds, I hope it doesn't become like that either. I think it would be really cool if it had an element of Lost to it, The island having unexplicable/paranormal activity. I would like to see some technology but nothing too hi-tech. Maybe a pair of binoculars, a torch and just general adventuring equipment. A radio might be useful for her to try get of the island... Perhaps the story of Origins is a story of self discovery for Lara and the islands own dark history... This is so very exciting! ^_^ Above all, the one thing I'll be expecting is some TOMB RAIDING!

I like where the ideas are going here. But Amanda being nice and innocent, that just won't happen (she's still mad at Lara for leaving her in Tiwanaku). Even after the events in Underworld, Amanda made it clear that things wouldn't be fine between them.

Another game that hasn't been mentioned was Angel of Darkness. As bad as that game was, Lara didn't start out with weapons in that game either. I'd like to make Lara make her own weapons, so I'd say that would really be nice.

I guess these events won't have happened yet in Origins, Amanda has no reason to have a grudge against Lara. According to Amanda Evert's bio in Legend, she was a bit of an new-age hippy... Looking for ways to find mysticism. She wanted to revive all that the scientific age had actively driven out of the world and then share it to gain personal enlightenment. Before Tiwanaku Amanda was a nice and innocent person. I believe that it was the wraith stone that had corrupted her and made her become a nasty person.

*Sigh* I misread the posts. But if this game is really about Lara becoming who she is now, Amanda wouldn't be around. Maybe a younger Winston could be in the game, perhaps he finds Lara at the end of this game and brings her back to Croft Manor. Might not go that way, but its just something for thought.

What ever they do with Origins they had better not make Lara a complete novice and useless <_<

I mean she should still be athletic and good at climbing, swimming and acrobatics... Perhaps they could show the first time Lara discovered she can do the handstand move and swan dive, maybe show this in a cutscene of Lara performing the moves trying to avoid a tricky obstacle or evading an attack...Even better it could be an adrenaline moment/ super action sequence, so you have to make Lara do it! Yeah, I reckon that's a much better idea! lol :D Am I right?

I was studying some concept art of Origins, the one where Lara is holding a machete and flaming torch; And if you look closely you'll see that she has a pistol or some other gun tucked down the back of her waist band. So there you have it! Looks like they'll be guns in this game as well l ;)

And another thing, I was thinking if this game is solely focusing on Lara and doesn't include any other characters, who will she interact with? Will it be a whole lot of talking to herself?? Hmm, I wonder... Yes! Her father! He's something of a mystery, we never see him, apart from the portrait above the fireplace.. All we had was a tape recording of his voice ( sounding suspiciously like David Attenborough :P ) He most have been an awesome character, after all Lara has followed in his footsteps. It would be pretty amazing if there was more about him in this game. A good idea would be some flash back sequences of Richard tutoring Lara... A chance to finally see the legendary Richard Croft!

I dont like the idea of aonther playable person in the game.

Kurtis turned out to be a failure so why bother to introduce another one?

Lara works alone, she always has in the many years of tomb raider.

Angel of darkness was different but still she worked alone.

Wel who knows what the time will bring.
