CRYSTAL DYNAMICS ANNOUNCES NEW LARA CROFT ADVENTURE

LARA CROFT AND THE GUARDIAN OF LIGHT

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – March 4th 2010 – Crystal Dynamics®, a part of Square Enix Europe, today announced Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light™, a new game developed by Crystal Dynamics, which will be released via digital download in 2010.

“This is a really exciting project for Crystal Dynamics, we have created something completely new and very different to what people might be expecting,” said Darrell Gallagher, General Manager of Crystal Dynamics. “Lara Croft is such an iconic character in videogames, with Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light we have created what we believe is a truly original digital experience.”

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will be shown strictly “behind closed doors” at this year’s Game Developers Conference beginning on March 9th.

Crystal Dynamics is an award-winning studio located in San Francisco. Founded in 1992, the studio has created and developed key game franchises such as: Legacy of Kain®, Pandemonium®, Gex® and most recently the Tomb Raider® series.

Oh my God, it's Christmas again!

But in all seriousness, I'm a tiny bit confused...

It's only going to be released via digital download, so it's PC exclusive, and I assume not a fully next-gen video game?

Not that that would bother me, to be honest; if it's of good quality, I'm all for it. And released in 2010!? Earlier than I thought the next game would be.

Also interesting to note:

They've dropped "Tomb Raider" from the title...this appears to be a fully fledged Lara Croft story related title this time...perhaps those screenshots released a long time ago were true. This adventure is before she became a 'Tomb Raider'.

Interesting... I think I'll wait for more information before I get too excited about it, lol. I wonder how long it'll be. If it's being released this year and as a download only, it can't be a full game surely?

So far all I know is it's not TR9 and so far we can assume pc but who knows might be 360 and ps3 also. It like a gold level as years ago between games adventure.

The game will be seen at the convention next week with additional information coming then.

This is ONE of two projects CrystalD are working on at the moment (The other, presumably, TR9).

There's no definite platform release as of yet, it could be released on the PS3 and XBox market place, too.

And, as Tom mentioned, a lot more about it will be revealed during next week.

I find the title very similar to the Angel of Darkness... Hmmm....

I put concept are in the gallery on the home page just look for the title.

Quite interesting and quite different. I'm not sure about the isometric camera thing, games like that tend to drive me a bit nuts, lol, but it looks good.
