SHILOH NOUVEL JOLIE-PITT was born Saturday night in Namibia. The name Shiloh is found in the Bible and reportedly means "the peaceful one."

"The couple is thoroughly overjoyed by the event and have expressed their happiness to be able to share this experience in Namibia," the happy parents said in a statement issued by the local African government.

In an exclusive statement to People, Brad and Angelina said, "We would like to deeply thank the staff of the Cottage Medi-Clinic Hospital for all their kindness and commitment in assuring the successful birth of our daughter."

The couple's obstetrician from Los Angeles, JASON ROTHBART, M.D. was assisted by the local staff of the Cottage Medi-Clinic Hospital, according to the mag.

"Angelina underwent a scheduled cesarean due to breech presentation," says Rothbart. "The baby was a healthy 7lbs. Brad was with Angelina in the operating room the entire time and cut the umbilical cord of his daughter. The surgery and birth went flawlessly. The staff, nurses and doctors I worked with at the Cottage Medi-Clinic Hospital were amazing, it was a team effort."

Brad and Angelina have also donated $300,000 to aid other babies born in the South African country, according to the local government. "We want to contribute to Namibia and the people who have been so gracious to us at this time," the couple said in a statement.

ET broke the bouncing baby news Saturday when publicist CINDY GUAGENTI told us, "The night of May 27, 2006 in Namibia, Africa, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt welcomed their daughter Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt."

Congratulatory wishes have already started pouring in from the superstars' friends and family. SAMUEL L. JACKSON, who starred with Brad in 'True Romance,' said, "Brad and Angelina, congratulations! May your child be great and successful and a reflection of you."

Brad's brother, DOUG, reportedly sent this e-mail to their hometown paper: "It's an exciting time for Brad and Angie and we are really happy for them and the kids."

Angelina and Brad have reportedly spent the last several weeks awaiting the arrival of their baby daughter in the African nation of Namibia with their children MADDOX, 4, and ZAHARA, 1, and numerous bodyguards in tow.

Photographers have been trying to snap pictures of the couple for weeks, but authorities clamped down with tight security around their hotel and the hospital where their baby was born. Large green barriers were erected on the beach and loitering shutterbugs have been arrested and their film confiscated.

The Oscar-winning actress is said to have fallen in love with the country when she filmed the 2003 film 'Beyond Borders' there with CLIVE OWEN.

Hollywood's most sought after stars became close while working on last summer's box office hit, 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith,' consistently dodging rumors that they were more than friends. But after months of keeping their relationship under wraps, and after being photographed trotting the globe together with Maddox and Zahara, they made their first public appearance together in November. In January, they announced they were expecting their first child together.
