US Playstation Magazine Confirms 10th Anniversary Edition Game is a Remake of First Tomb Raider Game

The September 2006 issue of Playstation Magazine sports an article confirming Eidos' 10th Anniversary Tomb Raider game is in fact a remake of the first Tomb Raider game.

..."The 10th Anniversary Edition is a remake of the original Tomb Raider that captured our hearts so long ago, and will be released for PS2, PSP, and PC. The release date is still to be announced, but it looks like before long, we'll all be re-exploring the original tombs with current-generation graphics.".... according to PSM.

With the leaking of the internal Core Design TR1 remake video, much speculation has been centered around the elusive TR Anniversary Edition, increasing the excitement for the forth coming game. It's definitely the cancelled Core Design trailer; there's a Core logo at the end of the trailer. I wouldn't take the release date on Play.com as fact though, it'll most likely change. Would be nice if it were released in September though.

Cos you ain't using your brain along with your eyes, LoL! There's Lost Valley, Tomb of Qualopec, Caves, Cistern, St Francis' Folly, Natla's Mines, Colloseum, City of Vilicamba, Sanctuary of the Scion and Atlantis at the least. That's 10 out of the 15 levels! And that's with my crappy Tomb Raider I knowledge, LOL!

It's not a Legend engine but a Core Design engine based on the Free Running game engine (a game they made but was never released) =)

That is awsome i just hope they dont go changing everything...mebbey a few new moves would be nice but everything else should be the same i think.

Hey guys I just got my US Official Playstation mag (OPM) and it had a little blurb about the TR anniversary edition being a remake also.

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!! *catwheels* i can't believe it! It's so beautiful! First i thought it's just rumours and they will never actually do it! But here it is!!!!!! AWWWWWWWWW, this is going to be fantastic! BEAUTIFUL!!! Did you see that!!!!! She's so cooooooooool! All these fabulous locations with the new graphics! OMG! LArson and Pierre! AWWWWWWWW, she can target at two enemies at a time! Cool! This is wonderful! I'm so excited! YAY I can't wait!!!!!!!!

Is it true that the remake Crystal Dynamics are producing has elements from both TR 1 & 2? Or do they plan to remake both seperately?

I'm really bursting to see some screenshots or a sneak peek at what CrystalD are working on..I hope it looks similar to the one Core Design had done because that looked gorgeous!

I hear the engine CrystaD used for TR:Legend and possibly TR: Anniversary...Was orginally created by Core Design for a game they were working on called "Free-running" a game based on the Parkour phenomina...(Which is totally bad-a$$)

Anyway, I'm so excited about this remake. I hope they include Lara's home in this as that was in the original game. It'd be awesome to re-experience Lara's mansion with improved graphic and moves.

I'd definetly buy it. And if they remade TR2 as well.. My head would explode with all the awesomeness.

Hey guys I read in another forum that the next issue of the UK GamesMaster magazine is going to have new info on the next TR game...

On the last page of this month's GM it has a full-page ad for next month's edition:

'New Tomb Raider! Exclusively revealed! See the whole of Lara's new adventure - only in next month's GamesMaster!!

On sale Sep 28.

I think this means the anniversary editon, right? Actually it is pretty vague....

I was just thinking... what if Gamesmaster is talking about the Nintendo version of Legend?
