They'd need the PLS too - otherwise you'd have real issues in the passageway from the library. Maybe its just the Binoculars - you don't need them, and they're easy to miss.

Peru, After doing the roll-the-gold-balls bit, you're 'taking the high road" back to Rutland's men. If you stop on the second-to-last pillar (not the one you slide down), and try to traget the guys below, your crosshairs will be grey. Lob a grenade down, they'll both die. Thing is, if you do it early enough, the conversation you can hear will continue, even though they're dead. I found it amusing.

I said Unknown Entity - the damn thing has a health bar, but you can't hurt it. It took me ages to realise what the hell I was supposed to do - I kepy lining up the machine bulbs, but wasn't watching the forcefield. Mind you...it didn't kill me.
