What do I need to do to get TR 2 to work on XP?

I read on Stella's TR site that it needs some tweaking to run properly...and my game doesnt run properly meaning it crashes after the first level and some of the sound is missing?

what do i need to do to get it to work right?

i can get the first level to work but it crashes after that and will not go to the next level

Do you get the error message about the game needing a new Tomb2.exe to run? Put the game in compatibility mode. Right-click on the tomb2.exe file (in Program Files\Core Design\Tomb Raider II, or you can use the Tomb Raider II shortcut on the start menu that you use to launch the game) and choose Properties. Click on the Compatibility tab, tick Run this program in compatibility mode for and choose Windows 98 / ME.

I was going to say the same thing but she got here before I did!!

i get an error message that says...

"FATAL: Level 2 (E:\data\boat.TR2) requires a new tomb2.exe (version 1468295) to run"

Did you put the game in compatibility mode like I said? Do that if you haven't done so already.

If you have put the game in compatibility mode and it is still giving you that error, try uninstalling the game and then reinstalling it, and then put it in compatibility mode without using the patch. I don't know what that patch does, but some of the patches for the older TR games give problems if you use compatibility mode on them.
