Angelina Joins Beowulf

Angelina Jolie has joined the cast of director Robert Zemeckis' motion-capture epic Beowulf. She joins Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins, Brendan Gleeson and Robin Wright Penn.

Beowulf is one of the oldest epics in early English and one of the most important works in medieval English. The poem tells of the tragedy of a man condemned to eternally err because he was born of a prohibited love between a mortal and a devil. His only possible salvation lies in a constant struggle against evil within him and in Grendel, a terrible and apparently invincible creature. Jolie will reportedly play an evil queen.

The film's screenplay is by Roger Avary and Neil Gaiman.

Jolie is currently shooting The Good Shepherd, co-starring Matt Damon and directed by Robert De Niro.

Neil Gaiman, screenplay author of the upcoming Beowulf movie, has stated that he will be appearing at next year's ComicCon along with Angelina Jolie and selected members of the cast.

... Neil then revealed information about next year's Comic-Con, and about the "Beowulf" movie. “Next year, I will probably wind up a guest of Comic-Con and be here for the full four days and sign things for everybody.†He will be doing a panel with Roger Avery, Angelina Jolie, Crispin Glover, possibly Anthony Hopkins, and Ray Winston, but not Bob Zemekis (who hates panels) to talk about "Beowulf." It will be released November, 22, 2007, and it will use the technology they developed on "Polar Express" and "Monster House," but will take it “further than you would imagine.â€Â

It's a “cheerfully violent, very, very strange take on the Beowulf legend.†It's both “Remarkably faithful, and deeply deeply weird.†......

Beowulf is based on the Old English epic poem, which is thought to have been written in the eighth century, chronicles the exploits of Beowulf, a Scandinavian hero who saves the Danes from the indomitable monster Grendel.

That's what's gotten me a tad confused. Normally they attach 'light capture orbs' to stuntmen because the Actor cannot perform the move (then they touch it up later), whereas it looks like Angelina is doing it. I could only conclude from this picture, that it somehow is getting turned into a game, and they're using Angelina to act the scenes in the game. Of course this is just conjecture, since I have no idea about thoses orb things.........

From what I understand the character AJ plays will be animated, she only does the voice of Grendals mother. This should be an interesting movie. I don't know if you guys know this or not but the person who played Terry Sheridan (Gerard Butler) is filming a Beowulf movie also.

Ahh, thanks for clearing that up for me Trin. Well, it sounds like an interesting movie, I can't wait to see some in-movie shots!

She looks funny in thoose pics. I actually had to read this story in English class once, I liked it so I can't wait for the movie. Look at Pic#1 the door reads: Grendel's Mother LOL
