Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Start Filming in Karachi

Angelina Jolie will playing the role of Mariane, while Brad Pitt is a producer for the movie A Mighty Heart.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's collaboration "A Might Heart" based on the kidnapping and murder of US journalist Daniel Pearl has begun shooting in Pakistan.

Angelina Jolie will playing the role of Mariane, while Brad Pitt is a producer for the movie based on Pearl’s widow Mariane’s book "A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Danny Pearl." Brad Pitt's Plan B is producing.

The movie was originally set up at Warner Bros. but moved to Paramount when Brad Pitt relocated Plan B there, Empire Movies revealed.

The movie, which is being directed by Michael Winterbottom, details Mariane Pearl's search to locate her husband after he went missing in Pakistan. Also a journalist, she was pregnant at the time. The drama ended as Pearl was murdered by his abductors, suspected to be Muslim terrorists tied to Al Qaeda.

According to Dawn newspaper, filming for scenes began under tight security at the Metropole hotel where Pearl was last seen when he hired a cab after crossing over the road from Village restaurant.

Filming will also take place at the shallow grave where Daniel Pearl’s decapitated body was recovered in a compound on outskirts of Karachi.

New mom Angelina Jolie is currently voicing a character in DreamWorks Animation's Kung Fu Panda.

Angelina Jolie stars later this year with Matt Damon in Robert De Niro's The Good Shepherd and will star in Robert Zemeckis' Beowulf which Paramount will release in fall 2007.

The film adaptation of Mariane Pearl's A Mighty Heart, who is the wife of American Journalist Daniel Pearl, is going to be shot in India. Angelina Jolie who will be playing the role of Mariane, will be in India on October 1, along with boyfriend Brad Pitt and their three kids. The hottest Hollywood couple along with their kids will be in Pune for a month or so, for the shoot.

The film also stars Irfan Khan and Aly Khan who play important characters in the film.

'Capote' Screenwriter Secretly Joins Jolie Film

Capote screenwriter Dan Futterman has secretly been cast opposite Angelina Jolie in a film about slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. Jolie made headlines last month when it was announced she was playing Pearl's widow Marianne in the film adaptation of her 2003 memoir A Mighty Heart. But Paramount Pictures made no mention at the time of who would be playing her husband, leading many to speculate the role was yet to be cast. In fact, Futterman, who is best known for his recurring role on US TV drama Judging Amy, had already been selected and was secretly filming in Pakistan. The casting was kept a closely guarded secret because of security concerns and crewmembers were sworn to secrecy during the 10-day shoot on location in Karachi and Islamabad. Director Michael Winterbottom and a skeleton crew went to Pakistan undercover, hoping to be mistaken for a documentary or news crew. Futterman, who agreed to be interviewed only after he returned to the US, tells the Washington Post, "It was important to shoot in the actual places where things happened. There are lots of little things that were important to (Winterbottom), not least of all the people and the sound of the language spoken." Pearl was a respected journalist at the time he was abducted and killed in Pakistan - four months before his wife gave birth to their son - while researching a story about Muslim fundamentalists.

Slain journalist DANIEL PEARL's parents have applauded ANGELINA JOLIE for helping to turn their son's last days into a new movie, even though they were initially unsure about the project. RUTH and JUDEA PEARL are convinced the casting of Jolie as their daughter-in-law MARIANE in A MIGHTY HEART is perfect, and they're delighted the gifted actress and humanitarian is starring in the drama, which is an adaptation of Mariane's book. Speaking exclusively to US news show EXTRA, Ruth says, "I think she (Jolie) stands for very noble causes. She's a great person." The Pearls admit they were very reluctant to give the film their OK when it was first presented to them. Ruth adds, "This is difficult. The loss of Danny is not easy for anyone to take and I didn't want to see Danny being played by an actor, but being done the way it's being done, it's very comforting." The Wall Street Journal writer was kidnapped and murdered in Pakistan in 2002, while researching a story about Muslim fundamentalists.
