10 Reasons Why I Hate AOD

Featured Replies

I have been playing around with AOD (on PS2) for a couple of days, since I'm done with Anniversary. I have made a list of why I hate the game.

Reasons I hate AOD:

  1. The game slows down in certain areas.
  2. Some guns (Dart SS, K2 Impactor for example) has no sound while shooting.
  3. The controls are wack.
  4. Takes too many shots to kill a human.
  5. NO DUAL PISTOLS
  6. BUG: The scream that last forever.
  7. How she walks up stairs.
  8. The “upgrade” system is stupid.
  9. The Cleaner..
  10. Most of all I hate that they rushed the game.

It had good potienal, and I am curious has what the next 2 installments would had been like.. but we’ll never know..

I did play Boaz for the first time, and I beat her without dying. I bet I can't do that again. Lol.

Does anyone know what are ALL the guns in AOD are?

Please post why you hated or liked AOD.

It's easy to say you hated it now with a comparison to Anniversary or Legend. But you could have hated it before i dont know. I liked it because the only other TR game I had was TR2 and I didnt see how lara developed So AOD was a huge improvement. But it had its flaws in battle. Plus if you think about it Core Design made that. So it was good for them untill Crystal Dynamics took over with Legend. And look at what happened :D Argh thats sad :(

I don't hate AoD --- I simply don't like it: game play control issues, bugs all due to the fact that it was rushed to coincide with the second TR movie. I traded in the game as soon as I finished it The publishers, and not the developers, are to blame for this.

I did find these interesting:

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness Hint: Moves List

A lot of Lara's old moves have faithfully made the transition to Angel of Darkness:

Handstand - When Lara is hanging from a ledge, press and hold L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 to make her perform a handstand.

Somersault - While facing a ledge, press TRIANGLE then UP (on the Analog Joystick).

Backflip - Walk backwards up to a ledge then hold L1 + X while pressing AWAY (on the Analog Joystick).

Swan Dive (a.k.a., Neckbreaker) - Hold L1 + UP (on the Analog Joystick) and press CIRCLE. Note Lara dives straight down after a little bit of forward motion, and it makes her more vulnerable to "cracking".

180° Turn & Crawl - Hold L2 to keep Lara on all fours; SQUARE makes her head and butt exchange positions while swimming

I did the Somersault and it killed Lara lol. I guess it broke her neck, being the thing I somersaulted off of was to low. :P

Oops... I wasn't referring to the moves you outlined Mike.

I was referring to the basic forward, backward, etc. (WASD keys on the Keyboard) movements/control of Lara --- it was terribly frustrating, garbage in fact.

LOL on your attempted low somersault

I very much dispute that the publishers are only to blame for AoD's state. Core had ages and ages to develop the game (at least three years) and look at the state of the game that was released at the end of those three years. Eidos could not just sit on it and keep giving Core extensions. Eventually they either had to completely scrap the game or release what they had, and with so much money already invested in the game they obviously chose the second option.

Core should not have taken on the huge task of developing their own game engine from scratch, since they were very obviously not up to doing so. They should've done what CD did and used a modified version of an existing game engine. I put blame on Core for being incompetent, and on Eidos for not paying more attention to what Core was doing.

I believe AoD was one of the first DirectX 9 games. I agree with you but to a certain extent. I have no problems with the game engine per se. The game looked amazing after I had installed DirectX 9 when compared to 8 (back then, I still had DirectX 8 installed; the game performed very poorly and looked unimpressive) ---- huge, huge difference in visuals and control. My only gripe were the basic movements I mentioned above. A little more tweaking and not releasing it with such an apparent problem would have done the game a greater good.

I don't hate AOD... but i don't really like it either :P It's really odd that game, compared to the rest in the series. It was like some experiment, lol. What i hated the most in it was that Lara was very clumsy... not to mention Kurtis! The game was obviously rushed as you said... full of bugs. It was a significant improvement in the graphics and so on... it was interesting to introduce a new character such as Kurtis, but i don't think that it went down very well.

All of these things created some sort of heaviness in the game... i didn't like that at all.

I like Lara's attitude:

I'm a dangerous girl

It's clean in here

Great, Another Cold Dark City

You call that a Dossier? EEEEEWWWW!!

:D

I was a fan of TR i even finished all the TR games till Legend. But now i am playing anniversary and it sucks! The end of levels a too hard to beat. you have to play it like 10 times to finaly finish the stages. i am stuck at this stage with the 2 horses, i read the walkthrough and even that does not help!

Reasons I hate TR(A):

  1. The game slows down in certain areas.
  2. Too hard to finish stages .
  3. The controls are wack.
  4. Takes too many shots to kill a human even animals.
  5. Sometimes very Confusing stages.
  6. NO Cheats.
  7. Saved games dont work.
  8. Camera control by mouse is a real pain in the ass.
  9. You can't save a game at any point, even if you save it the game starts from the last check point.
  10. Most of all I hate that they rushed the game.
