    It is a move added to "enhance the gaming experience". A la just about every other action-ish game out there these days, time slows down, letting Lara--or, more accurate, her player--go to town and bury the equivalent of a good few rounds of ammo into an enemy in the short-short span of time as her leap carries her to the ground.

    Why not? It helps her get out of the tight jams she finds herself in, so what the heck, eh? :)

    How does it help her?

    In theory, it gives more time to really wail on an enemy, so there's less chance of them hurting you.
