  1. Granted, I've never played that version, but even so--that sounds more like a collection of glitches, really. I'd see what other players of that platform have to say, but also seriously consider taking it back for a new copy, if you can.
  2. I know where you're at (at least I think I do), and it is a royal pain to get back up. There's a big machine-thing at one end (if you stand with the gun above and behind Lara, the machine-thing will be at the far left). Go to it. There are climbable poles, there, but you have to watch out for the electricity that crawls up the poles. Time it right and climb up. At the top, you'll be able to see the gun but you won't be able to get to it because the doors there are closed. Go through the other doors (follow the tracks in the floor) and navigate the myriad obstacles and you reach a large room. Work your way around the room to the control booth up and at the far end of the room. Flip a switch, get back onto the floor, and use your grappling hook to get the cube-generator-thing along the tracks back into the hall with the obstacles. Timing things right, you can move the now-electrified poles and follow the cube-thing back to the other room. Open the door to the machine to let the cube-thing in and power the machine-thing. Make your way through the doors you couldn't enter before, look at the shield, and continue onward. If any of that didn't make sense, read Stella's guide here and do a search (Ctrl-F in most browsers) and search for this term: "LARGE ROOM WITH TESLA GUN AND TOWER". Read from there. Hope this helped.
  3. You can mash any of the face buttons (triangle, square, X, circle) as early as you want. Doesn't matter one whit. Now, any stick movement, on the other hand, can't be done until the icon appears on-screen. What I've done before is scan Stella's guide for the relevant level until I get to any interactive cut-scenes, and I memorize the sequence. Then I just wail away on face buttons when it comes up.
  4. So I've run into the infamous "bug" mentioned at the end of Stella's walkthrough for Bolivia Redux. Lamentably, the suggestion to simply play Bolivia Redux again hasn't helped, and I've re-played it both normally as well as having done the time trial. I've poked around this and other forums, looked around teh intarwebs as a whole, and have been unsuccessful in figuring this out on my own. Does anyone know how else to counter this glitch? I've obtained everything and beaten every time trial, so I really hope I don't have to do this over again. Thanks in advance for any help.
  5. It is a move added to "enhance the gaming experience". A la just about every other action-ish game out there these days, time slows down, letting Lara--or, more accurate, her player--go to town and bury the equivalent of a good few rounds of ammo into an enemy in the short-short span of time as her leap carries her to the ground. Why not? It helps her get out of the tight jams she finds herself in, so what the heck, eh? In theory, it gives more time to really wail on an enemy, so there's less chance of them hurting you.
  6. Spider-Man 2 for the PS2: Sure the graphics were--meh--and the storyline was kind of on the sparse side, but the game itself was radically different than its predecessors. If nothing else, hours and hours and hours could be gleefully thrown away simply swinging around. Freedom Fighters: A war game that isn't a re-hash of some major world war or whatever else. Its premise is simple--what if the Soviets "won" the Cold War and invaded the United States? The mechanics were simple enough to learn, but complex enough in their execution. You could figure out how to do things in under five minutes, then give semi-specific orders to people under your command without trying to proverbially jiggle the code just right to get your people to do what you want them to do. The best part, though, I thought--the enemies weren't idiots, nor were they god-like. Anywhere you could get to, they could too--and would, if given the chance. However, the reverse is true. So if there's a sniper picking you off, there must be a way up to his little nest. It also didn't take a hojillion bullets to take down an enemy grunt. They had just as much resistance as you do--which is to say, very little, since it's a bloody gun and all. Armor does make a difference, of course, but even with the most heavily-armored enemies, you didn't need to sit on the trigger for fifteen minutes just to take them down. Not bad for a game nearly four years old.
  7. The only thing I can suggest is to try timing the multiple button-presses differently. Maybe quicker together, maybe slower. For me, I remember that I had to hit the grapple button pretty quickly at times.
  8. I've never even heard of that. Maybe you aren't close enough when you're firing the grappling hook off. That's the only thing I can think of.
  9. When did I say that? I've always admitted I'm an idiot. ;D Probably should have said the same to me when, I think in this same thread, I commented to someone who had a Dora icon a huzzah for the comic it comes from. Or anyone else who takes a moment in a thread to make some off-topic comment. T'ain't the end of the world, lad. Edit to add--er, Faye. Not Dora. Not the most relevant edit, but.
  10. Might want to read the name of the thread. It's Tomb Raider 5, A.K.A. Chronicles.
  11. Harmonix, the company who makes the Guitar Hero series, are making an 'Eighties edition, then leaving the franchise. It will be continued by Activision, though. I'm currently getting my butt handed to me by the Furious Frets or whatever the section is called. Can't five-star the songs for the life of me, and I'm still on Medium. I truly fear Expert.
  12. Guitar Hero II, currently trying to five-star every song on Medium.
  13. Meh for me indeed. I beat the story and was rather disappointed at the "nothing" they gave as a reward. I just can't see a reason to keep it in my collection.
  14. Fire on water is actually most likely in a sinking submarine. Engine oil and gasoline both float in water, and both are flammable. All it would have taken is a spark--whether from people blithely shooting hither and yon or not--and whoosh, a more literal interpretation of "fire water".
