Default mapping for this game requires 3 hands. A hand for the “g” target lock, a hand for the mouse and a hand for the movement keys. To further compound the controls problem is that the movement keys a relative to the camera and not Lara. This is truly idiotic.

Imagine driving your car and the controls operated the same as tomb raider anniversary. As soon as you look sideways your steering function would swap to the brakes and accelerator, and when you turn your steering wheel to the right the car would drive straight and accelerate.

Talk about counter intuitive.

By default the target lock control is right-click, so you can use one hand for both the mouse and that. I would not at all recommend trying to use G as the target lock key because it becomes awkward when trying to use the directional keys at the same time. Use right-click rather, or re-map target lock to something else (I re-mapped it to left shift, made space bar crouch/roll, and right-click jump).
