Is Lara that foolish? I can see it now...

after he shoots Natla behind Lara, she says "Drop it Zip, or I'll drop you!" And Zip says "I was shooting at Natla." And Lara says "Oh gee, thanks, buddy! Now I won't have to defeat her in a long frustrating boss battle a few levels later!" And then they walk into the sunset and live happily ever after.

I'd hate to break it to you, but people do betray others, especially if they get better offers. It'll be sad, but maybe Zip was hired by Natla from the start, or Amanda. Or maybe Natla paid him off to kill Lara just recently.

These are all very possible scenarios.
