Not exactly. It needs to be able to check into the Microsoft servers once a day - so if your internet connection goes down for more than 24 hours, you can't play your games. You also need to have an active internet connection before you can run a game for the first time, I think. Pretty rubbish - if I were a console gamer I'd definitely go for a PS4 instead of an Xbox

What if you can't afford internet connection?

Something happen in the household like someone losing a job and internet connection is the first thing that gets cut to save money.

Microsoft doesn't care about you if you don't have a broadband internet connection. Really, they seem to be making a deliberate effort to annoy as many as people as possible at this point.

I think Microsoft are trying to sell PlayStation 4's and Mac computers because they are really making horrible decisions lately.

Perhaps they need Bill Gates to come out of retirement!

I won't buy either of the consoles, I've only owned my PS3 for less than 2 years.

Microsoft also wants to stop making its operating system for desktop computers, and only put it on laptops or tablet computers. But that would take at least a decade at most to be done.

I have an XBOX 360 and I never once gone on the internet.

I've been using it to play Tomb Raider Underworld, Tomb Raider Reboot, Madden NFL 2009, Madden NFL 2013.

There is not even a CAT5 cable connected to the back of it.

It still works just fine.

This sounds more like a case of Microsoft wanting to keep track of the owners of the new XBOX and spy on them.

It's like that EA game that needs you to be constantly connected to the Internet to the EA servers to play it - even in single player mode.

The EA servers crashed leaving many people who shelled out $60 for the game unable to play the game including the single player games.

Anyone who bought the EA SIM game and who will buy the new XBOX 360 are essentially telling EA and Microsoft:

"I approve of invasive DRM.

I approve of not having access to the game I paid for after release.

I approve of how EA and Microsoft and other crappy greedy companies like them mistreats their customers.

So, Microsoft have just announced that they'll no longer be requiring check-ins with their servers every 24 hours, an internet connection is no longer required to play games (although retail games will now require the disc to be in the tray instead of running off the hard drive), there are no restrictions on used games, and the region locks have been dropped.

As for the topic at hand, I'm on the fence on this. I'm all in it for single-player gaming only and not all those other features that are being offered.

Most likely wait a whole year before I finally decide, or if I decide, to get either the new Xbox or PS4, as I did with the previous generation.

I agree with installing 7... A shame you have to buy another OS for a crappy OS though.

I'd also install Zorin Linux it looks a lot like Windows 7.

The Xbox I'll pass on and maybe get a PS4. Windows and Microsoft are not on my good list atm.

It's been a crazy week because of the XBox One and PS4.

Each system is available to purchase in 12 differently priced bundles.

PS 4 - starting as low as $399.99 to as high as $520.

XBox One - starting as low as $559 to as high as $679,

I rather have a PS 4!

We all had to learn the difference between each bundles and the technical specifications on each system.

We started taking prepaid pre-orders today.

When is the street date for both system?

All we know is November for the XBox One and maybe even as early as October for the PS4.

We haven't been told an exact date yet.

I just recently started using my XBOX 360 that I had for several years and that's only because I wanted to play TR-U and TR 2013.

It's been sitting in the closed gathering dust ever since I brought it home about 4 years ago.

I play most of my games on the PC.

Have not been gaming much but when I do, my platform of choice is the PC and the PS3. The last time I gamed on the X360 was playing Halo 4 and Mass Effect 3.

As I see it right now, PS4 is my choice of console when and if the time comes.

It's going to be a long holiday season for retailers:

"Do you have any PS 4?"

"Do you have any XBox One?"

"When are you going to get one?"

"I paid for a prepaid order. When do I get my PS 4/XBox One?"

There hasn't been 2 competing major game consoles being released at the same time during the Holiday Shopping Season since the PS 3 and Wii were released in November 2006.

I can't comment on how many XBox One and how many PS 4 we will be getting on release date and I also can't comment on how many pre-order slots per store we have.

All I can say is PS 4 pre-paid pre-orders are outpacing XBox One by 3 to 1 at my stores.

I hear that on Amazon.com is 5 to 1 and Gamestop is 4 to 1.

I guess Microsoft is going to be in trouble this time.

There many just be a surplus of XBox One this holiday season or maybe not, depending on how many units total Microsoft decides to release on street date.

They may just release enough to cover the pre-orders and let the rest of the customers who didn't pay for a pre-order, who just want to walk into a retail store and buy one on a whim, fend for themselves like hungry dogs on a bone.

So this way the news will be reporting shortage of XBox One.

People who are not familiar with how the gaming world works will read that and think:

"The XBox One must be better if the stores can't keep enough inventory on hand to meet customers' demands"

The Wii lost lol, This time it's the PS4 and Xbox One. Personally PS is my choice, only because what they say in the news is true, and Microsoft doesn't. They say one thing and then change it, so how can I Trust Microsoft with game consoles? Microsoft came out with a game console after the announcement of the PS2, so I am sorry, but I trust Sony more than Microsoft when it comes to gaming.
