Considering how many crappy movies is Hollywood either rebooting or remaking or giving unnecessary sequels to that only end up becoming box office flops,

there has been some movies or movies series that should have had a sequel but there hasn't been any especially considering that most of the following movies did make money.

True Lies - a sequel has been rumoured but still not confirmed

Avatar series - several sequels are in the works but it's taking a long time, according to IMDB the first of 4 Avatar sequels won't be until 2020 which means it will be 11 years since the first film came out.

Leon The Professional with Mathilda as the trained killer

The Simpsons Movie (it earned over $527 millions!!)

Bad Boys series: there is finally a #3 coming out in 2020, I just looked it up.

Terminator series: there is a sequel in the works, by James Cameron, with Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger returning!!

It will be a direct sequel to 1991's Terminator 2 and it will ignore the other 3 Terminator sequels that were released after Terminator 2.

Thank God!!

It will also be the first of 3 Terminator films by James Cameron.

What took you so long to wake up, Jim?

You should had done this 25 years ago and saved us all the pain and suffering of having to sit through Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator Salvation and Terminator Genisys!!

I think the worst was Spider Man. 3  reboots in such a short period of time. It's like the film industry has lost any imagination for new things other than re-boots.

I agree about Spider Man.

Plus the reboots weren't even any good.

A sequel to Leon: The Professional would be great, but they got to have Natalie Portman reprise the role of Mathilda 

Serenity-yes please. Since we can't get a new season of Firefly, how about finally a sequel to the movie. I'm sure fans would love another adventure featuring "Mrs. Malcolm Renolds".

I also really liked the Tron movies as well. At one time there was talk of a sequel but they dropped it.

Page 47 is apparently life altering -- where's part three!

Maybe a story about page 47 requires  a lot of imagination and they'd rather have a re-boot lol.

I wasn't aware that King wrote a sequel to The Shining and a movie is being made of it.

But it's not Kubrick and it doesn't stars Jack Nicholson so it will never live up to the prequel.

They were going to make a sequel based on the follow up novel The Power Of Six and then they didn't.

I guess the movie making $150 million worldwide against a budget of $50 million doesn't qualify it as a money maker once you figure in marketing cost.

How come they never made a sequel to Get Smart reboot?

It made $230 millions against a budget of $80 millions.

Plus another near $35 millions in Blu Ray and DVD sales alone in the UK.

I would say that's a profit.
