I have been playing the definitive edition of tomb raider on a PS4. I have tried for months to get past the Russian guy who chokes you and fights you with a gun. After kicking him and biting his ear we struggle on the ground and I always get shot in the head because there are no directions on how to go from there.

If anybody could give me any heads up here that would be great otherwise I’m just going to give somebody the game because at this point I can’t play it either way. It’s ridiculous that there is no information on the subject anywhere.

I literally just started getting into the game and was forced to stop because I can’t pass the stupid guy!!!

Hi. I moved this from the Rise of the Tomb Raider section to the TR 2013 section in case someone else might come looking for answers to this same question. The first two button prompts require you to press Melee (Triangle on the PS4) to kick the Russian in the crotch, then Melee (Triangle) again to bite him. If you fail in either of these, he chokes Lara. If you succeed, she manages to knock his gun away and scramble after it, freeing her hands in the process.

When you see the targeting reticle on screen, aim at him with the right stick and press Primary Fire (R2). Next, follow the prompts and wiggle the left stick back and forth from left to right to break free. For the next button prompt, tap Interact (Square) repeatedly as Lara struggles to keep her grip on the gun, then Primary Fire (R2) again to finish him off. If you fail, he shoots Lara and you have to try again.

FWIW, you generally don't have to do it at as frantic a pace as the on-screen prompt seems to suggest. Good luck. 

 OK I have tried to pass this Stupid guy since you posted this and I still have had no luck it’s as if the back-and-forth motion on my joystick doesn’t work but I’ll play other games and it works fine. Something is not registering in the game or something.

Triangle, triangle, shoot the guy twice, struggle on the floor toggle the left then toggle the right And then I get shot in the head because it doesn’t matter what I push. Is there a cheat to pass this part it’s so annoying.?

I don't think there is a level-skip cheat for this game, but I will see if I can find any other solutions. Just to elaborate a little on what I wrote before, the part where you wiggle the left stick from side to side does require you to do it more than once. You don't have to move it frantically, but you do have to go side to side repeatedly during that whole section where she's struggling for the gun and you see the left stick prompt on screen.

Was a solution ever found to this glitch? I am having the same issue. Decided to play through the tomb raiders and had no issues with shadow or rise. Now stuck here on this game at the toggle part, which seems to go on for much longer than I have seen for other players (through YouTube). I think it’s a PlayStation issue as the computer version doesn’t seem to have this issue. But I have tried everything, and when I don’t do it “frantically” I get shot, but if I do it fast enough it continues on with no end and then my thumb can’t take it anymore after like a minute so I give up and get shot. It’s been about 20 tries now and I’m super bummed it’s at the beginning of the game meaning I can’t go forward but also don’t want to waste anymore time on one simple fight 

I’m so frustrated. I can’t get passed this part. I keep getting shot. I toggle back and forth and back and forth which seems like forever and then bang, I get shot. Every freaking time.?

This part is not enough for anyone to offer help.

Im on ps4 and its the same thing. Nobody plays this on ps4, enix isnt going to ever fix it. Congrats, we wasted our money. You will never get past that point because it literally wont let you. The game is junk

It’s so stupid but. After pressing triangle twice just put the controller on your lap and back and forth with left stick with one hand. It works eventually
