The movie better star Alicia Vikander.

The anime series on Netflix better be good. 

The reboot of the original games better be as good as the original 1996 Tomb Raider.

I played the original 1996 game on the Saturn first, then on the Pentium 60 PC with NO 3D card, in VGA, 10 inch CRT screen, one little speaker, mouse and keyboard, and then on the Playstation 1. 

I played it so many times I could play it with my eyes closed.

To this day after so many Tomb Raider games, St. Francis Folly's will always be the hardest level I ever played and it left a lasting impact on me. The size and score and realism of it. You really felt you were there, high up, getting vertigo while trying to figure out how to solve this level but also how to get Lara around without killing her with a long fall.

Then the Sanctuary of the Scion level (about 14 min 45 seconds in) where she falls through the base of the head of the Sphynx. First time I got to that part I thought I killed her with the long fall. 

But she lands in the water and it was WHEW! She is still alive. But the water was so deep and I got her lost not knowing what to do or where to go:

I still ended up killing her when she ran out of air and drowned.  

 

 

I agree.  TR1 St. Francis Folly.  In TR2 The Opera House. TR6 The Hall Of Seasons Those are my top 3 for me.

The underwater segment in TR 2. I get lost underwater. Lose sense of direction.

Alicia Vikander is confirmed to return as Lara. In fact, the film's original release date was March 19th, 2021. Ultimately canned due to COVID-19 and the writer and director leaving the project. Misha Green is now writer and director.

I'd very much like to see how they plan on creating a unified timeline, because my mind is already picking it to pieces, haha.

I was disappointed when it was announced a new Tomb Raider movie was in the work but without Angelina Jolie and I did go: ALICIA WHO?

But I do have to admit Alicia did a good job as Lara Croft. She reminds me of Lara in the new Tomb Raider games that were not made by Eidos.

Angelina absolutely nailed the role perfectly. I hadn't heard much about Alicia Vikander before Tomb Raider either, but she's very good.

For me, Angelina as Lara Croft will always be what Sean Connery is for James Bond. 

I still remember in 1999-2000 when a Tomb Raider movie was announced and still in pre-development and script rewrites, everyone wanted Catherine Zeta Jones for the role.

I was very active on Eidos forum at the time and I suggested Angelina Jolie, fresh from her role on The Bone Collector, would be the perfect Lara Croft, not Catherine Zeta Jones.

I was BOOED big time by almost everyone. "Angelina who?" they said! "Her mouth is too big" they said! 

I even email Eidos and told them may I suggest Angelina instead of Catherine Zeta Jones.

I like Charlize and Uma and Liv and Kirsten and Milla and Cameron and Christina and Jennifer Love but they are not Lara Croft. Sandra Bullock and Jennifer Love are too tiny. Jennifer Lopez, her back is too big. All the other ones are definitely wrong for the role.

Kate Beckinsale would have been good imo. She has the voice for it too. 

Fairuza Balk! She's great, but not Lara Croft. I could imagine her in more of a Jen Tate from Primal role.

Kate Beckinsale was not on anyone's radar in 1999. She just came off the movie Brokedown Palace and hardly anyone knew who she was. The movie was a box office failure.

Kate didn't gain some notoriety until 2001 when she starred in mega director Michael Bay's big blockbuster Pearl Harbor. She almost didn't get the role because she wore leather pants to the screen test and Bay was not impressed. 2 years after Pearl Harbor was when Beckinsale gained fame by starring in Underworld.
