  1. I doubt those scenes are from an in game movie. It's just made for the trailer, not for the game.
  2. ^ The pics posted here and 90% of the trailer is not from the actual gameplay, it's just made for the commercial
  3. What point the Tomb Raider series got when it's possible to finish the game without dying or dying 10 times :|
  4. Classic TR song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It won't hold me on the main menu until the songs ends tho (yes I did that with Legend That song is so beautiful). It's pretty close to the original theme tho, apart that it's missing those man voices singing too. OMG I wanna a remake of TR2 so bad now! I know! Since I found out about the remake I've been dying to play the original TR again! I even got to the point where I downloaded those XP patches. But then i realized I should wait for the remake so the impact is bigger Eidos is being smart, they will hold the TRex pics until the game leaks, they know it is the part most people is dying to see! They even make the demo end there!
  5. Things that got me excited: Original inventory back, game looks amazing. I don't think the first game plot owas confusing or anything, but the more they invent without touching the classic bits, the better. Can't wait for the Caves intro fmv redone, nor the original menu back and that classic song I love. What I already do not like is how they say they played the first level, Lost Valley. On their trailer we can see bits of Cave's as well, so I am guessing they put them all together and made Peru as a whole unique level, instead of a lot of levels on that location. That makes me mad they are shortening the game to this point. I guess we won't be seeing a lot of City of Vilcabamba. I hope they keep the game as chalenging as the first. Can't wait to put my hands on it!
  6. Eidos and Crystal Dynamics show off their promising revamp of Lara Croft's first adventure. By Staff, GameSpot Posted Dec 21, 2006 4:46 pm PT At this point it should be acknowledged that Menlo Park-based developer Crystal Dynamics brought the Tomb Raider franchise back from the brink. The once-popular series had lost its way after a splashy debut and follow-up that helped usher in the 32-bit console era. Fast-forward to earlier this year, when Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider: Legend hit and reminded everyone that the series was still very viable. To follow up on its success, Crystal Dynamics is going back to the franchise's roots with Tomb Raider: Anniversary Edition, a promising retelling of Lara Croft's very first adventure. Though the game was announced earlier this year, the folks at Crystal D hadn't shown off much on it until this week, when we had the chance to have a look at the game in motion. Before showing off the game, reps from the developer talked about the approach the team is taking with the game. Rather than simply redo the original game with Legend's visuals, the team is taking a more thorough approach to the new game. Citing the method Peter Jackson took for realizing his vision of King Kong--using the original narrative as a framework and retaining the key memorable moments while expanding on them--reps from Crystal Dynamic noted that Anniversary Edition will be much more than a simple update of the original game. The game will follow the same basic story as the original, so you'll once again be guiding Lara as she's commissioned to retrieve an ancient relic known as a "scion" (no, not the car). As anyone who's played through the original game can tell you, while the gameplay was aces, the story wasn't big on making sense once you started progressing. As a result, Crystal is fleshing out the narrative to offer some clarity on what the heck is going on. As far as gameplay goes, the level demoed for us showed off the revamped first level of the game, which, as in the original, revolved around a gear puzzle that required you to collect cogs to make an ancient clockwork gear system work. In the new game you'll be doing this in a vast cave made of up of interconnected passages that crisscross each other. More significantly, the rather plain gears that fit into pegs on a wall in the original have been replaced with proper gears carved into a good chunk of the cave wall. The hunt for the cogs also featured the return of familiar animal foes such as wolves, bats, and some Jurassic surprises (more on that later). The cog search also highlighted some very cool retro touches that brought a smile to our faces: Lara's radial inventory wheel is back, as is the simple tune that plays when you discover hidden areas (of which it looks like there will be many). One thing to note about Anniversary Collection's mechanics is that they've been opened up some to include elements introduced in Legend such as the grapple, context-sensitive actions, and the cinematic button-pressing moments. The demo followed Lara solving the gear puzzle by collecting the missing cogs and using them to activate the different gears. As each one was activated they made it possible to advance deeper into the cave. Once that was sorted, the sassy Brit found herself in the lost valley area that was home to ancient critters such as velociraptors. The sequence in the valley didn't last long--it cut out just at one of the original game's signature moments, the appearance of the T. rex--but it offered enough of a tease to get us very hopeful for where Crystal Dynamics is going with the game. Crystal Dynamics seems poised to serve up a very cool retelling of the original Tomb Raider. The visuals in the game share obvious ties to Legend in terms of quality, but there's been a fair amount of work done to Lara's model to ensure she has her classic look from the first game. You'll see the return of her original outfit, complete with dual pistol holsters and blue unitard. Besides her physical appearance, work is being done to marry the fluidity of movement from Legend with some of Lara's signature moves, such as her swan dive. The environments we saw appear to do a fine job of recalling the feel of the original game's significantly more modest locales while offering up a cool cinematic feel and sense of wide-open space. Though we didn't see any human foes, Lara's animal enemies looked considerably more fetching than their 32-bit counterparts. Despite the fact that the PlayStation 2 game demoed for us was still very early in development, the game ran smoothly and looked quite sharp. The audio in the game takes some getting used to, as one of the key elements of the original game was its solo vibe. As Lara Croft you faced off against the world and often found yourself playing in an oppressive silence, save for a modest assortment of sound effects and occasional pieces of music that would come in during key moments. While Crystal D is attempting to offer those kinds of moments in the experience, it's balancing that with modern expectations, so you can plan on hearing a musical score pop up throughout the adventure. How frequently it will be used is still being sorted out, but it's safe to assume the game won't be as quiet as the original. Based on what we saw, Tomb Raider: Anniversary Edition is shaping up to be a very promising retelling of the original game. As it proved with Legend, Crystal Dynamics seems to get what the series is all about and is once again playing to its strengths. Given how strong Tomb Raider: Legend was, we have high hopes for Crystal Dynamics' second outing with Ms. Croft. Tomb Raider: Anniversary Edition is currently slated to ship this spring for the PlayStation Portable, PS2, and PC. While we were shown only the PS2 game, reps mentioned that Anniversary Edition will likely follow the same approach of Legend on the PSP and offer the same content the console game did, as well as some multiplayer features that are still being ironed out. Look for more on the game in the coming weeks.
  7. The animals are back yay! At first I thought "..o so the game will have fmvs?" but then soon I realized it's just for the trailer, that's not really part of the game. Im a little turned off by the graphics on the Gamespot pics tho. Look at the caves' textures, they are not well done at all. And one pic of Lara with the raptors, her outfitt is so bad done too. And everything looks like it's on anti-aliasing off... Hope they put a little more effort on that until the release or maybe it's just the pics.
  8. The one I want to see the most is when she is arriving on the first level. I hope they keep all the music for that one, that is a classic. The moment she looks at those big ass doors open is one of the most classical moments of TR IMO.
  9. This is the second wallpaper actually, I think The T-Rex one is an wallpaper right? I love this one, t4p. I was hoping to see this pic on a higher quality, I love that it is the original pic from the classic TR cover, but redone with new Lara and technology!
  10. If you don't care for blood or exploration, and like to see a lot of outfitts to try, you should play The Sims JK. I see your point, I enjoyed the game. It just could be AMAZING and it was just a step forward when many consider the other ones to be one step backwards after other. The beauty in Tomb Raider was variation and exploration that would drive you insane with puzzles. And that is what Legend fails to deliver. All the levels have the EXACT same structure and after you get how to make things work, everything you will be doing is tha same thing till it ends. And that's a shame. They created this physics puzzles for a level and must be so proud of it that they decided to put it on the same shape and form on every level.

AOD is anything but Easy. I love the game! Even with all the flaws, it is an amazing game with amazing plot in my book!
  12. TR Legend was a good step forward, but not a perfect one, or even near that. Now the game was released so long ago, we can think of it's flaws in a less "omg its out lets play omggg!!" way. It didnt bother me that it didnt have a lot of different guns, basically because the game doesnt allow you to explore them very much. The enemies are kinda stupid and even the pistols do the job fairly good with you kick them or jump in them. And DO NOT make a EXPLORATION game so linear and straight foward! What is up with that! If you hide secrets, people wont bother exploring a whole level to look for something that can possibly open a new outfitt for you wear if you want to play the game again on levels that you alread beat. Make they look for something that will actually add something to the plot and history, something that wont let you move forward! All the puzzles are a huge disappointment. Come on, I guess they were so excited to make this new way to phisically interect with the enviroment that they completly forgot about those HUUUUUGE pieces of old engines that you would stare at and have to find elements to make it work, and then solve it to actually make it work. Even AOD had puzzles like this, and this game is so bashed. I agree with missing blood and violence too. Would it be AWESOME if you have to solve one of those huge puzzles very very carefully otherwise a violent scene would just destroy Lara? Ancient puzzles are not supposed to be easy or nice, they are supposed to be hard and destroy anyone who attemp to unconver its secrets. I guess, I never ran into one anyway.
  13. I thought the swiming was a bit frustrating first. Actually, all controls were. But thats because we were so used to the other games before. I cant play the other TRs anymore because I suck at controls. I always get shot because i tend to press "action" as son as bad guys appears and forget you have to get the guns out of the holster (sp?) first :|
  14. Hahahah I never did that when I played TR1. God, I think I will have so much fun. I only played the game once, when I bought it back in 97/98. Never did it again (I tryed replaying it a year ago but stopped when Egypt levels began and I got stuck). I only played a lotthe first levels and love them! The end of the game is kinda weird and spooky to me :|
  15. You can make it more flooded The whole level puzzle is basically built around on flooding/not flooding the room on the correct times so you can reach certains keys! That's how I remember it anyway =P
  16. I absolutly love custscenes and watching them. AOD has the right ammount for me, I love them! Legend as well. Anyway, I agree that they should not make them just to skip levels and sections of the game, but Im sure they will do that for some reason.
  17. EDIT - it doesnt work as a outside link, you have to enter the site http://www.croftgeneration.com/imagenes/ga...lpapers_006.jpg Croft Generation has also a lot of new pics as of today, I mentioned them on the December 8 thread I made adding the new pics on my last reply (ok, not the pictures but a description of them)
  18. MORE PICTURES RELEASED!! A FREAKING LOT MORE! More form Lost Valley. Again, basically from inside the cave near the puzzle, but other angles makes the level looks difficult and confusing. Im scared is going to be short tho. It looks like they didnt exactly reproduced it, so Im afraid they made it smaller. It seems the whole wheel puzzle is concentrated on this tiny space. Oh they also edited the level so we could use Legend's features like the grapple and the bars and ropes. I hope they let the old puzzles as they were and not make this game boring. All Legend's levels had the exact same structure where by the end of it, you are still pulling heavy things and using the grapple the same way you did before. They have to mix this up with interesting puzzles and classic find-the-key system. There is also new pics with Dinausaurs, bears and the Valley in general. Theres also a Karima picture wearing the classic outfit. PS: The Valley is CLEARLY outside the cave. There even snowy mountains near it.
  19. ^ It is long compared to Legend. But Legend alone was 8GB big, can you imagine TR Anniversary? BTW, Im pretty positive computers that can run Legend good on the non-next gen graphics will handle Anniversary too.
  20. I cant post them I guess but just to let you know some beautiful new screens from Lost Valley are there. One of them is really small and looks like a vilagge, but I cant really tell. It could be City of Vilcabamba? Anyway, this one is crearly on an OUTSIDE envirmoment. There is also two closer looks on Lara's model alone (her face is a bit odd IMO) and a BEAUTIFUL wallpaper that could be the cover - it's Lara in front of a bunch of trees and a big eye looking at her, like a hidden T-Rex. I wont post the link. BTW, lemme just share this website I really like too! http://www.croftgeneration.com/eng/home.htm (can i do that?)
  21. There are 3 more pics along with this (pics from game, not concept art) but I assume you can't post them either, right? Just to let people know they are there. They are only releasing picture from Lost Valley (well, how many pics we already have? 8? They are all from this level) just like they only released pictures from Bolivia (or was it Ghana) for Legend. Judging by the pics they released, and ONLY BY THEM, the level looks as small as Legend's levels. Hope it's just the pictures that are on the same place :|
  22. Amazing new Xmas layout! Anyway, that would be a nice ideia. Just like on Last Revelation the screen turned distorced as Lara got poisened by scorpions.
  23. Ok now I see that on the T-Rex pix there are also a number of hidden raptors on the grass. That's scary.
