Something i notice and miss in the new graphics is the colorful bright golden colors of the Egyptian levels of the old games. They bright and colorful walls, the painted hieroglyphic are so pretty in the old games. I hope they just don't stick to the drape grays and depressing dull shades we seen in the new games so far.

I agree Mick but the dull grey is more realistic and thats what people want in games... Realism

IMO i think that the gold colours were there because the game i imagine would have only used 256 colours on PC and very early technology on the PS etc point is the game looked brighter in old version because of the lack of colours available. if they used grey in tombs all over the place the textures and detail would look the same (because too dark) because of no variation in colour. (Grey to white)

yeah but the Hieroglyphics in TR 1 Egypt Levels and the Murals in TR 1 Roman-Greek levels were a wonder to watch while you played the game and it gave the enviroment a sense of realism!!

:D

LOL looks great! only the Vilacabamba and Khamoon levels look so different from the original, on a good way that it they look so much better these days. i mean look at the faces of the statues from the Kahmoon level... they are just flat

:o WOOOW! SO life-like! LOL

I LOVE the way the rooms look huge in TRA!

Why is Lara's hair different in TR1 though? I thought it was always long??

Love this game already x x x

Why is Lara's hair different in TR1 though?

In the original TR 1 in 1996, they didn't have the graphics capability and the PC then didn't have the memory and the speed to animated her Ponytail, so her hair was up in a bunch.

By 1998 when Tomb Raider 2 came out, she had a free moving ponytail and rounder more realistic figure!!

^_^

I used to spend hours having Lara jump all kind of ways and directions in Tomb Raider 2 to see how many ways her ponytail would move.

Once I saw it wrap around her neck in 2 overlapping loops!!

:D

I noticed too that the brightness in the Egytian levels from the old game are gone in TRA,and will be little "unlikable" for someone to play the new game in dark places. But the comparison is great! :D

Have you guys seen the video that's available at the official Anniversary website that compares the original game with the Anniversary edition? It's quite impressive :D (although for some reason they made the TR1 footage using the blocky software version of the game instead of the 3dfx version. lol )

I cant remember the last time I played TR1, so I couldn't remember if she had a ponytail or not!

Here's one of mine:

Lara going over the waterfall! :D

I liked the old waterfall SO much better! Id always dive off the top into the pool first thing, but now it doesnt really work anymore. You dont even start the level at the top anymore.

Amazing, isn't it?!

Hey can someone post screenies of Pierre & Larson in TR1, TR5 and TRA? It'd be cool to see how they've changed... i can't remember if there was any difference between their images TR1 and TR5 and right here i've got only TRA :(
