Im at the temple towards the end of the city of vilcabamba and in the left room with the pool and i cant seem to jump backwards and grab this http://img398.imageshack.us/img398/4303/trana0.jpg ledge. I always end up falling into the water. is there a way i can jump higher or longer so i can grab it?

several people had problem with this.

shimmy all the way to the right on the ledge as far as Lara can go before stopping and can't go any further.

press the down arrow or right arrow depending on your camera angle to make her get in the jump off position.

then press space ONCE but HOLD IT DOWN to make Lara jump farther; as soon as she jumps off, Let Go of the space button - she will grab the far left side (closer to the entrance) of the ledge and start to lose her hand hold, immediately press E (the Yellow Exclamation mark will come up but it may be too late by then) to make her save herself from falling.

Thanks! i tried it about 328479837 times even with your suggestion i got closer but still cant grab the ledge. ill keep trying but i think eventually ill just give up and wait for the savegame files haha

If you place the cam behind you, press S (and keep it pressed) - she should now be looking behind her. Then press jump.

I got through both of those with no probs...just hold down the jump...

According to Stella, there's a potential bug here, wherein Lara will not grab that ledge.

If anyone else is having this problem, and Lara absolutely won't grab the ledge even if you're holding the jump key down as she is jumping, then try the fixes that are suggested at Stella's:

POSSIBLE FIXES FOR BUG IN LEFT SIDE OF TEMPLE: A number of players have encountered a bug in which Lara will not grab the ledge in front of the passageway with the ramp. Perhaps this will addressed in a forthcoming patch, but in the mean time, here are a few suggestions other players have shared with me:

(1) Reduce the screen resolution in the Options menu. You may need to experiment a little to see which setting works best for you, but if you have a very high-res or wide-screen monitor, a lower setting may do the trick.

(2) Disable 'Full Screen Effects' in the Options menu.

(3) If you encountered a problem while installing the game in which the installation stalled at 95%, follow the instructions on the Eidos support site to reinstall. This may also solve the jumping problem. If all else fails, you're welcome to download my savegame file for the next checkpoint. Instructions are included with the download.

Check your options and disable the full-screen effects.

Sounds weird, but it helps, I had the same problem earlier. She'll jump now.
