TRA worst game ever...

Featured Replies

Lol, I'm sorry but AOD holds that title in the Tomb Raider series, next to that would be Chronicles.

Chronicles is not bad, its one of my favourites along with TR2,legend and anniversary, as for AOD you're right.

 I think I will officially declare good gaming dead. I had so looked forward to this game (TRA), and it is a miserable failure. You really got to wonder if companies are doing any testing before they put this trash on the market. Sure they suckered me for my 29 dollars. We were promised a deeper game. One would think that would be, story line, character development, better cuts. What did we get? Just more running, jumping, falling, dying and a shooting engine that makes 1st gen games look great. Ten years ago, I was a much younger man, Lara was a babe, well today at 50, I've got to say, I have aged better than Lara. Sorry old gal, TRA will go to the bottom of the pile with Indigo Prophecy (great game bad software) and Pirates - Legend of the Black Buccaneer and the likes. Eidos, when you bring back an old game, you make it better (Metal Gear Solid 3-Subsistence).

TRA feel like something a couple of guys did on their coffee breaks. Yes, the graphics are good but its 2007 they should be. Good graphics are not enough to carry a game, I want story line, and I want options. I want to be challenged with a puzzle section that is more then -run, stop, jump, swing, fall, die, and reload. To much ask, you say? Let’s think about this. I have "given" Eidos for over a hundred Dollars on the Tomb Raider franchise alone and after the Dark Angel flop Eidos owes gamers, BIG TIME.

Can I get an Amen!

Well I guess I could go back to reading books.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA!!! So i'm not the only one who does this then!! Whoo Hooooo  Makes me feel soooo much better! Once i got bored of jumping off high ledges, breaking her bones, drawning her and so on and i decided to leave her to a rat, lol. It took a lot of time, but in the end she died alright :D I miss the AOD shouts and moans when she falls from high and breaks :( And i also don't like the fact that the game is loaded immediately after she dies, in AOD you could enjoy and take screenies of her weird body postures :P Erm... by the way i'm NOT a psycho, i just get really very mad at her sometimes.... :P

And yes, i agree the controls are hard job and really frustrating, but not impossible. And the game is really good as a whole :)

wow i dont want to be lara in youre game :D

But i have this also yes. And after a while you like it more and more.

I've played every TR game and game extension. AOD I think was a disgrace, TRA has probably frustrated me more than any other game I have played - ever, and all because of the grappling hook/camera fiasco. But I have finished it and am now going back to find the thing that I've missed. So I am getting to love it, if I could just get that grappling hook swing to work!!! It drives me mad the way she keeps pinging off the wall instead of catching the ledge! Such a frustrating waste of time. But I have wished for ages to get a remake of TR1 and I've got it now, despite it's faults I shall relish it like a really good wine.

Intriguing...like a fine wine??? for me it's more like a fine whine.... :P

this part must contain many medi-packs but everytime I beat the game, I don't get hurt at all so thats would be very easy for me! :)

TRA is it like legend, is there normal or hard or easy advnture? or what?!!

yep easy medium and hard then timetrial. But its better than Legend for obvious reasons

I updated my Widows from XP to Vista Ultimate and I had to start the game again.I was going to the Damocles Door (passed the other 3)and now I'm at the Tomb Of Qualopec level and I can't position the tall thing I'm moving(I don't know how it's called) to get in the right :( and the AD is killing me when I try to use it against a wolf or a raptor it bites me before I finish it!BUMP what a stupid move I like jumping and shooting the dumb thing better!lolz

W orse ever...It doesn't save my game...she doesn't grapple at all...doesn't jump in the direction I aim...the camera is a joke...I don't like saying this about TR but it's true...

Most of that it true; the controls are tricky. You have it on PS2 or something? On the computer, it took me little to get the hang of the f_cked-up angles and her not jumping (and dying all the time!)

If you save the game after any checkpoint the game will resume from that checkpoint.

Mary

Crystal Dynamics recommends you backtrack all the time to enter in more checkpoints.

It would make more sense if on the PC version you could use the "save anywhere" function like in previous Tomb Raiders.

I'd say the PS2 checkpoints are like the Playstation save crystals.

LOLz...I just needed to blow off some steam...but she shouldn't be having the problems with the grapple...the one where you jump off the slope slab in back...Oh...I bought it on PS2 because it was on sale for $19.99 at Best Buy....

I've had the grapple problem in the gym at ramp 3.

It's not a graphics problem or an AI problem, it's a failing on the user's part.

If you're even a millisecond too slow, the grapple hook snaps when Lara's feet are parallel to the floor.

I imagine it's even harder to do on the PC.

If you record the AD and look at it frame by frame she mostly side rolls on her neck  ouch (sorry digging at a old thread)
