Wall Running Help

Featured Replies

I'm new to these boards and having trouble learning the wall run. I've read all the threads, but still can't get running fast enough to jump to the pillar.

Any help to continue this game would be appreciated.

Up and Down button, don't look at Lara and wait for her to reach the height of her walk to the left to press the Down button, just keep pressing them over and over again and you will see her speeding up her wall run.

:woho:

Yes, and also be careful with the camera angle. Sometimes for running on the wall you may need to press UP and DOWN, and the next minute is RIGHT and LEFT, which is very annoying and may slow you down. The camera angle is from your pioint of view, not from Lara's like it was in the old TR games. Well, i'm sure you know that... it's hard not to notice it, lol

I'm still having trouble moving the control stick to keep her running. I guess I'm not coordinated or something cause she runs then stops. This is sooo frustrating but I would like to finish the game. I'm using the PS2 game.

Thanks again for all the help.

im guessing youre at the begining of st francis folly, if so you dnt need to run bak and forth just jump forwards taping square then jump off when you go all the way forwards

I have to use the grapple and swing back and forth. I usually can just run but am ready to leave this area and have to use grapple to leap to the column.

Be sure the camera is exactly behind her and use the left/right keys to make run!! Keep moving the mouse so that the camera is always in the same spot!

After all the tips, if you still can't do it, stop playing for a day or so! After that, you might be able to do it on your first attempt! Keeps helping to us!

Good luck!

If you have to jump straight out from the wall make sure you don't lift your finger off the button or release the stick when you jump...this is the biggest problem I had but have it mastered now...if you play on PS2 make sure you have it STRAIGHT left and are not putting top/left on like I was...

I'm on PC. I'm there also and having the same problem with the grapple and jump in the timed run. I'm either jumpin in the wrong direction or jumping in the right direction but am not high enough to catch the ledge. I have a feeling that I'm going to be doing this for a long time before I get that artifact.

I think this video will help; you are trying to get the 4th artifact in the Obelisk of Khamoon level, right?

if you get stuck again, this person has posted all kind of helpful videos:

Jeez...that was one of the areas I didn't get stuck...and I suck at this game....

Doesn't say much for me eh? :undecided:I'm still trying to get the first artifact. I know the route to take but I'm still not fast enough. The problem is when I get to the grapple/wallrun and leap to the handhold. I'm still doing that too slow. Lara may jump to the handhold one time and out into the room the next.

So.......you had no trouble getting the first artifact or did you just skip it?

EDIT: I finally got the first artifact. It wasn't until I was able to grapple/wallrun & leap to the handhold all in one swoop did I have enough time to get to the pole before it retracted. This is the silver tablet needed to unlock bonus content in the game. We'll see later, I guess.

Hi Everyone, I'm new to this forum but with all the problems I had with the grappling hook in St. Francis Folly, I felt I needed to pass on this info to you. This is what worked for me...

1. Once Lara is on the wall, her feet should be on the second of 3 bands of stone on the wall (She basically ends up there when you grab the hook but just FYI)

2. Position your camera straight at the wall so you are looking at Lara's back and are level with her.

3. I'm using a PS2 and I had to play around with it a bit, but I used the two toggles and moved them back and forth in opposite directions. (You MUST keep them level or she slows down.) In other words, to get Lara to go left, I moved the left toggle to the left and the right toggle to the right. You have to keep up a constant movement back and forth to get her to go higher on the wall. This takes some practice and coordination but take it from me... it can be done. (I didn't believe it either  )

4. You don't have to wait for her to get completely far left or right before changing directions, in fact, it seemed to speed her up if you changed directions while she was in motion.

5. Do not make her jump until she is as high as the third stone band (the highest one) or she will just land left or right on the floor and you *&%^$( have to start over. <_< So, once you notice you've got her going good and fast and she's high enough, as she goes left, push the left toggle back toward the pillar and press jump. You'll probably have to try this a bunch of times and it's super frustrating because you have to back around the room again to get her on the grappling area but eventually it will work. I didn't wait until she was at the very top to push back and jump. I waited until she was on her way, almost there, pressed back and then jump. She ended up on the pillar and nearly collapsed! HA HA HA I felt like I'd won the lottery!!! :woho:

I hope this helps. I honestly didn't expect to ever get past this part. What a frustrating task!!!

Best Regards to all
