I think I will officially declare good gaming dead. I had so looked forward to this game (TRA), and it is a miserable failure. You really got to wonder if companies are doing any testing before they put this trash on the market. Sure they suckered me for my 29 dollars. We were promised a deeper game. One would think that would be, story line, character development, better cuts. What did we get? Just more running, jumping, falling, dying and a shooting engine that makes 1st gen games look great. Ten years ago, I was a much younger man, Lara was a babe, well today at 50, I've got to say, I have aged better than Lara. Sorry old gal, TRA will go to the bottom of the pile with Indigo Prophecy (great game bad software) and Pirates - Legend of the Black Buccaneer and the likes. Eidos, when you bring back an old game, you make it better (Metal Gear Solid 3-Subsistence).

TRA feel like something a couple of guys did on their coffee breaks. Yes, the graphics are good but its 2007 they should be. Good graphics are not enough to carry a game, I want story line, and I want options. I want to be challenged with a puzzle section that is more then -run, stop, jump, swing, fall, die, and reload. To much ask, you say? Let’s think about this. I have "given" Eidos for over a hundred Dollars on the Tomb Raider franchise alone and after the Dark Angel flop Eidos owes gamers, BIG TIME.

you didnt really seem to mention many really serious problems you had with the game?

challenging puzzles? there are puzzles, have you got to St. Francis folly? four rooms, first you have to get in (challenge #1) then you have to get the key (challenge #2) then you have to get out again (challenge #3). I personally found the levels to be challenging, but dooable. Like the original, but not like TR3, which was just stupid. Some of the rooms were a bit easy, but I think that is because I got used to what I should be looking for, and after TR3 it all is easier

with the old Tomb Raider I found I kept accidently finding secrets, taking less obvious paths, when I thought it would be the exit, which was more obvious than I thought. With this TR I always find the way out when looking for secrets, as the levels seem more complex.

ah well, I really dont see your problem with the game... Running and jumping has always been what TR is all about. Yes, the combat is awful, but it always was a bit rubbish, and its not like its a combat oriented game. Most reviews say the combat is worse, and I agree, but there is a small enough amount of combat that it does not ruin the game. I feel the story has been improved, to the point where I noticed it.... it is still a bit rubbish, but being based off the first game, there is only so much they could do.

I also (last point, promise ) dont see how it feels like something 2 people did in a coffee break. I personally have found the game to be very polished indeed... smooth frame rates, no glitches or bugs at all thus far.

Still, I guess we all have our different tastes. Its a shame you didnt like the game Perhaps you could try upping the difficulty, though I don't know what the game changes with that, and turning hint icons off, for a more authentic TR experience.

Maybe it was the hope of a deeper story line. There are 5(?) games 2 movies, a comic book bobble heads, action figures and 10 years of history. TR player should expect more and Eidos should be giving the franchise more. A deeper story, playing just to unlock a new outfit is like my daughter playing with a Bardie doll.

In one cut scene Lara says “Yes its worth dying for” but we never know why she feels that way. I admit I want more. Maybe more then the industry is willing to give. Sadly then they will lose a customer and fan. After playing a game like Metal Gear Solid 3, than buying MGS3 subsistence, my expectations are very high for the industry. But talk in the real world is us oldsters want more. Wow, look at some of the on line games. Yes maybe that’s where the real gaming is today. That’s sad cuz there is nothing like sitting down on a cold winter day and running through the jungle with Lara.

What do you mean by "deeper story line"? Since TR:A is a TR1 re-make, they only had the TR1 story to use. They did try to make it a bit deeper by adding in all Lara's daddy issues, but really, Tomb Raider's never ever been about wonderful plots. What do you suggest CD do with it?

i hate mgs3 so much, i dnt see how anyone who likes the first two could like the third its so crap and has a crap story, crap characters, plus you unlock costumes in that for completing parts so if you love that how can you say thats a bad thing about TRA? contradicting yourself there... and all subsistence added to the gameplay was control of the camera angle! not as great a leap as you're saying

you're entitled to your opinion im not having a go i'm just bringing some balnce to the argument, i think TRA wasnt as good as expected it was shorter and the bosses are way too easy its a lot easier than the first, i got 100% in a week, plus i think the things you unlock are crap, but i love the gameplay and graphics, the story werent that great but hey, it's a game not a film and i'm more interested in how it plays not in the cutscenes. i grew up with tr too, ive played since it first came out in 96 and i still play them, but the old ones are done they ran out of steam, crystal dynamics are making them for the modern gamer now but keeping the essence of the old ones, which i think they are managing very well. plus it's said her father was looking for the scion to help find out what happened to his wife, after his death lara carried on looking for it to finish her fathers work and find out about her mother and became quite obsessed with it, thats why she thinks its worth dying for

I played the first MGS too and I don't like it! You get to the tank and that's it...he blows you outta the water....

I love the first two i think theyre better games than tomb raider so does everyone i know, i just hated the third it was nothing like the ones before and really crap

in fact i dont think i know anyone who likes tomb raider games anymore, did when they first came out, im the only person i know who still plays em

Ok first of all, I like TRA and Indigo Prophecy. LOL

And second, I only paid 20 dollars for TRA. You got ripped off sir. LOL

Ok now enough of making myself giggle. I see what your complaints are with the game, some people either like the new tomb raider, or they hate it. That's just the way it is. But I don't know what to tell you here... I thought it was great.

And as far as storyline goes, that was basically the same exact storyline as Tomb Raider 1. I don't understand how you could not like the story.

i think hes saying he dont because it was similar to first, and didnt go much deeper or emotional, nothing much was added to the story really only about killing her first person

It was building up to how she became so tough. She kills people like crazy in Tomb Raider Legend, they had to show how she got that way. But I guess they could have done a little more with it. But I didn't really expect any more or less, I liked it.

As I said, it's another matter of opinion. I liked the Alias game, and some people thought it sucked. Lol

Just one side note to ask all of you to respect each others' opinions about Tomb Raider or any other game. Some people love it, some people hate it. That's life, don't make it such a big deal. Everyone's entitled to their opinion as long as you don't disrespect others'. I've edited some posts with that in mind and I would like to ask you all to have a healthy conversation, show your points of view without arguing.

I LOVED Tomb Raider Anniversary!

I think the people who made this game did an awesome job!

Although the camera angles were annoying from time to time, especially when doing the wall-running-rope-thingie!

Apart from that though, awsome! Great scenery inside the tombs and outside!

I loved the lil' added details such as in Croft Mannor where she interacts with the books and relics etc!

And thats for costume changes! Unlocking new outfits is one of my favourite parts!

I loved Legend also and I cant wait for the next TR game!!!

I hope even if you didn't like TRA you will give the next TR another chance

I also thought TRA was an amazing game... Great graphics... The lighting... Lara... Everything was great... Altho it did get frustrating at times what game doesn't? I cant wait for TR8... Woot! Oh there better be lotsa outfits like in TRL... I wouldnt mind another 33... hehehehehahahaha!

i never use the different costumes i think its a crap unlockable thing. not as bad as the cheats though

First thats ur opinion and I disagree... The unlockable outfits were great unlockables! and the cheats helped some of us through the time trials so dont dis the unlockables LOL

i know its my opinion lol, can diss them if i want remember what bpanther said respect others opinions lol

you had to do the time trials to get the cheats so they cant have helped in them that much! im just the type of person who dioesnt like buying a game then cheating through it i think its a waste of money not getting the full experiance of the game. plus i find the game easy and didnt need cheats at all
