After noticing in the other thread that not many chose TR1 as their favourite, it made me wonder...

How many people on this forum played TR1 as their first TR game, and in addition, played it when it first came out?

Not me I didn't even have a computer! But I'm sure there must be some [nearly] 10-Year raiders here?

played TR 1 in November 1996 by chance:

I took my Sega Genesis 32 X CD system with all the games to Funcoland to trade in for a new Sony Playstation 1.

They didn't have any Playstation 1 so I settled on a Sega Saturn.

The only game that caught my attention was this cardboard standee featuring a lady with long ponytails, pointing 2 pistols at you and the tagline read:

Tomb Raider:

Sometime a Killer Body Is Not Enough!!

now available on the Sega Saturn.

So I bought a Saturn and Tomb Raider 1 that day;

I was up all night stuck in the Cave Level and by the time I gave up, it was time to go to work!!

I spent all day sleepwalking at work!!

Then later on that year, I bought Tomb Raider 1 for my Pentium 1 P60 PC and early in 1997, for the Sony Playstation 1!!

I played TR1 first! I bought the kids a PS1 for christmas in about 2000/1 i think with a few games. A few weeks after christmas, i spotted TR1 fpr sale for £5. I thought hmmm... i've heard of that game, i'll buy it for the kids. Hannah had a go first, and just ran up and down the entrance to the caves, got fed up and put it down. I picked it up (just to see if I could do it, you understand)....then I ran up and down the entrance to the caves for about 20 minutes thinking...what the hell? But, hang on, what's this, another room, oooh, what's this bridge..oh wow, this looks good..*falls off bridge, wolves attack* omg omg omg...lol! the rest is history, i've been hooked ever since. That's probably why TR1 is my fave. People's favorite is usually the one they play first. I played them all in order after that.

The funny thing is, I still haven't finished TR1 - i'm still stuck with the huge mutant - but J7 gave me some good tips so i'm gonna have another go.. and if all else fails, I'll do what Shrensh said and Cheat!!

My confession: I haven't completed TR1 either : ( I finally got into it once I got the Glidos program for my computer, which makes the TR1 graphics comparable to TR2, but for some reason I stopped playing (it might have been when I left to uni). I really ought to try it again some time!

Yep I played TR1 10 years ago in November 1996 too (Hooked ever since) and have played and completed (oh how the walkthroughs have been a godsend over the years ) them all in order.

My frist TR game I played was TR4 Last Revelation, but I have played TR1 as well, not as soon as it came out but couple years later when I got more into TR I bought it along with TR2, TR3, and TR Chronicles, they were each like $10.00 - $12.00 each. My dad payed for them cause I told him I really REALLY wanted them and then he was like this ok *he pays* --------->

I can imagine him thinking, "bloody hell how many of these Tomb Raider games are there!"

I'm lucky because my dad likes TR even more then I do, (I even caught him reading this forum once ) so 'Father Christmas' always used to get them for him (and me!)

Me think I may have started in 2000 (I think I was 8 ) and I was getting a Playstation for my birthday and my dad bought Tomb Raider weither it was for me or not I don't know. The game really freaked me out, so it got tucked away so I'd never have to play it again but in 2001 that changed because I bought a playstation mag and Lara was on the cover and I was like (after reading the article) this series looks good and I got the rest and started playing.... I think thats how it went. I was little.

I played TR1 first but it was in 1997. I bought it for my hubby - he bought me the rest of the series as they came out.
