ok so im down on the beach and its highlighted to go to the ship being worked on .. well i went to the left of the beach and worked my way over to the the far side where the shipwreck is before i went to the ship that was being worked on .. needless to say when i get to the highlighted area it does nothing and as i was making my way to the shipwreck side there was a conversation on the radio saying lara was on her way to meeting them as if i had already been to the highlighted area and talked to them which i hadnt.. so now im stuck and unable to proceed .. any help would be very grateful

If I remember correctly I had to pry open a door to an abandoned small building near the boat area and once I walked through the open area then things began to happen.

well ive done that but i checked into the walk through and its skipped me through mutiple parts in this area by doing what i did.. and its also got me past the part where i recieve the compound bow so looks like ill just have to start this game over seeing as i cannot continue where i am now.. thanks for the help though

Unfortunately it seems that there is a game-stopping bug at the shipwreck area which is triggered by leaving the beach and going through the areas on the left too early. Is this similar to what has happened to you?

What platform are you playing on? If you're on PC I may have a save near that area.

yes this is exactly what happened and im playing on the 360 .. needless to say i had to start over but managed to get back and finish the game within 24hrs .. YAY!!

My problem is similar...I've got the compound bow and I'm now heading to the Endurance to find Alex, however, it doesn't appear my bow has been upgraded in terms of the game recognising it to be able to create rope bridges/tear doors away on the beach?

Would finding a bow upgrade fix the problem, or do I have to restart?

If I'm not mistaken, that upgrade occurs on your way to the Endurance. You get this upgrade after having a boss fight on the boat.

Hmm, that's a bit odd...although I may have overlooked the rope trickery...

the rope arrow you get before acquiring the Compound bow, i had it in the summit forest.

The upgrade you get when you get the compound bow is the ability to create a rope bridge by shooting rope arrows into climbable walls. Some of the tear-away walls on the beach you need the upgrade you get on the Endurance to break, so you wouldn't be able to get those yet.

the compound bow allows u to make rope bridges into climbable walls its an upgrade in itself .. now as for the game not showing it being upgraded thats exactly what happened to me, it said i had it but the visual was still the longbow so i unfortunately had to restart bc the compound bow is needed to advance in the level .. not sure if this is exactly what your going through but i hope it helps

oh and as for the tear away doors now that is an upgrade u get from a boss defeat as soon as you get onto the endurance.. good luck
