OXM Reveals Tomb Raider Multiplayer In January Cover Story
Wild guess: it could be something in a fashion of Uncharted (2-3) with different match types, eg. basic elimination/deathmatch and possibly some additional modes where you need to find all the treasures and carry them to your own headquarters before the opposing team. And since there are going to be multiple main characters in the new Tomb Raider, we already have the good guys team, and the island's weird inhabitants obviously are the bad guys. Btw I used to say to my brother "Always raid alone" when he was struggling to protect his allies in a game... So much for those days... Oh well, shouldn't be such a smart-ass anyhoo. Let's just say this news surprised me though And I agree with Morp in that the Guardian of Light isn't a very good comparison. As the developers made clear, it was not a Tomb Raider title, and I feel that the only thing it has in common with the Tomb Raider series is the main character. Quite honestly GoL isn't a very amazing single player game... Only times I play GoL is in multiplayer mode with a good friend.

Assassin's Creed III
Yeah, it may be a form of masochism, but for some reason I try to teach myself the native name... results not so good (yet!), but gotta keep on trying! Just checked out once more the Freedom edition... sweet. It's hard to decide which are better, the in-game bonus content or all the stuff included! The Mayan pyramid sounds so good, and then again that Connor statue will look good in my shelf. Oh October, how I wait thee...

Assassin's Creed III
Thanks Yeah I agree to, pure love per Ezio but it's nice to move on : ) Also really excited about the two-handed combat and multiple enemies attacking simultaneously (of course, specially the part where you can block their attacks too). And my oh my finally assassinations on move!! It has bugged me sometimes in the previous games that if I kill someone (accidentally or not) the whole movement just stops. REALLY looking forward to new more fluent movement! And of course the fact that Ratonhnhakéton is an ancestor of Desmond is interesting too. Caaan't wait for this game!!

Assassin's Creed III
Yeaahh Assassin's Creed! Have you preordered it? I preordered mine, the Freedom edition. It's going to be sweeet! The newest trailer, "Rise" (released 4th of July) Lots of more videos on the Youtube channel of AC, http://www.youtube.c...ssassinscreedUK Including gameplay trailers and even Frontier walkthrough! Some of the cool new features: - new animations/new moves - only the iconic moves have been saved! - snow that isn't just white ground, but slows you/enemies down - climbing in the trees (check out the trailers, the movement is soooo flowing) - assassinating animals - the voice of Connor is a half Blackfoot himself - the Native Americans speak their native language when talking to each other, subtitles in English - name meanings: "Connor" is a Gaelic name meaning "lover of hounds."/"Kenway" is an Old English name meaning "brave royal fighter."/ "Ratonhnhaké:ton" (pronounced Ra-doon-ha-kay-doon) means "his spirit lives" or "life scratcher" in Mohawk. - fighting on an uneven ground - more lively background characters - (unkillable) children characters - about 80% of the characters are real historical figures - and surprise, surprise, lots of surprises and twist coming ahead! MORE information on Connor MORE cool facts by Kotaku Edits: Had hard time adding video to this post, so I chose the easy way out and only linked it...

New to LCO? Please Post Here!
Well I did kinda start writing to the forums already but I suppose I should introduce myself... I'm 18 years old and hail from Finland. I can admit that I have some sort of obsession with history, specially ancient cultures, meaning you can talk to me about ancient cultures - SPECIALLY ancient Egypt - anything anytime and I'm up to it. I suffer from a typical history geek syndrome, meaning I'm sometimes too demanding when it comes to the accuracy of historical facts used in entertainment. But then again, I have my weaknesses, and I am a huge fan of the first two Mummy movies, although they have very little to do with the real history. (Don't get me started but hey, Imhotep as a bad guy? lol) My own history with Tomb Raiders goes back to the happy days of my childhood. My older brother had Playstation 1, and naturally I also became interested in video games. The first game that we had for Playstation was Crash Bandicoot - I still adore the older Crash Bandicoots - and then came this game called "Tomb Raider". This Tomb Raider was Tomb Raider III: The Adventures of Lara Croft, and for a little girl like myself this Lara Croft quickly became a huge idol. I was too afraid to play the actual game itself - I spend my time in the good ol' Croft Manor. Sometimes I played the first level and the darn tiger (or whatever cat animal it was) scared the hell out of me! I became very interested in Tomb Raider as a phenomenom. I begged for my dad to buy me the movie (I still remember the price, 100 Finnish markkas ) and watched it over and over again. When I was ready to play the games all alone, it was already the era of Playstation 2 and what I found out was that our copy of TR3 wasn't exactly the... legal, original one. (Know what I mean?) Our Playstation 1 didn't really work that well anymore and our Playstation 2 wouldn't run the game, so my TR explorations didn't begin yet. . When Tomb Raider: Underworld was released, I had to get my copy. My brother had Xbox360, so I bought the game for Xbox. What I remembered it felt different from the early ones, naturally, but I enjoyed it. Later I found Tomb Raider: Legend from a sale basket in a local store called Motonet and bought it for a rather cheap price. I found out that the classic Tomb Raiders were available as a collection for a fair price and bought The Lara Croft Tomb Raider Collection ASAP. And my collection was full when my brother gave me Tomb Raider: Anniversary as a birthday gift. Now I'm going through the classics, even though my laptop isn't exactly the best for the purpose and even though I really like more playing with a console. During these years I have also bought three TR novels and one comic book, a collection of both the TR movies, tried to draw some pictures of Lara, designed an outfit for her for a competition, been a member of several TR forums, visited the fan websites, visited the look-a-like galleries, watched fanmade movies etc. etc. However the last couple of years I have had to pay more attention to my studies, since I'm now in high school instead of junior high. But now on my senior year of high school I'm making my comeback to the world of TR forums. I chose to make my account here mostly because of the long history (in comparison with the other websites/forums). If I'm not wrong I also think Stella has mentioned this site maybe even couple of times... I used to be more or less active member of one Finnish TR forum, but since they put down the website where it could be found, I kinda dropped out. This is becoming rather long message but I'll briefly mention some of the other games/game series I'm interested in: - Assassin's Creed (pre-ordered ACIII couple of months ago!) - Uncharted (played the first one, saving money for the second/third) - Red Dead Redemption (my brother had it on Xbox but sold it, now I'm saving money to buy it to PS3) - God of War (would like to buy one, but again the money issue... it sucks to be a student with practically no income) Also in consideration: buying Spec Ops: The Line. Played the demo, it was nice, story sounds interesting. And the last note: one of my proudest collections is the three Playstations in my shell. I mean, what better way to say "Sony's Slave"? Looking forward to seeing you all in the forum and discussing about TRs with people who actually want to talk about the subject! : )

Tomb Raider 9 Hardware Software and the game itself
Thanks! Well I'm glad that PS3/Xbox360 are still hanging on... I mean I already have three PlayStations in my shell... : ) I just hope there won't be any more delays with the release of new TR! But I guess there are always delays when you really look forward to a game... Hah oh Windows, it seems sometimes like they just want to release as many systems as quickly as possible.

Tomb Raider 9 Hardware Software and the game itself
Well I'm jumping in the conversation couple years later but I hope you don't mind (in my defence, I did create my account only couple days ago...) And after all, right now the new TR is probably more relevant than ever! With the release of trailers I think we can agree that the graphics seem pretty darn good, and definitely gritty enough I'll have to admit though that I'm a bit worried about that the enviroments will all look kinda the same. By this I mean that all we have seen so far is a dark island, rain and storm, and then some sort of dark cave/tomb/some-weird-cult-place kind of enviroment. Of course we have only seen trailers/demos set in the beginning of the game, but then again they have told that pretty much the whole game will be set on this one island. It may be just my prejudice but one island as an enviroment seems slightly limited to me... I mean, if it is not Crash Bandicoot 1 kind of island which I doubt Of course there has been games where the surroundings remain pretty much the same throughout the game (eg. Red Dead Redemption) and yet those games have been intriguing. I absolutely love the concept of adventurer-archaeologist (à la Indiana Jones, Nathan Drake and of course, Lara Croft) and that is what I'm always looking forward to in TRs. It is also the reason why I have had my worries about this game.. Although the idea of having a "zero to hero" survival story may deepen Lara's character, I'm a bit annoyed by the fact that CD has pretty much abandoned every history Core Design ever created for Lara. And now that I happened to mention history, I may also confine to you that I'm a bit(?) of a history geek. And whenever I see real historical facts hidden in games, I fall more in love with that particular game. Being the worrying person I am I wonder what kind of culture the good folk of Crystal Dynamics are going for with this island people... Seems like they just decided to create this mysterious island with the culture of its own. I don't mean to complain (but I'll do it anyway), but seems like an easy way out to me... There are just so many so interesting and little-known cultures with their unique and intriguing histories in this world, why not use one of them? (Well, that's the geek in me speaking.) One thing I like about this game is the fact that they have spent time figuring out puzzles that seem more realistic, and not so much "run-climb-pull lever-jump-run back-pull lever-etc". Although I find all that lever pulling very nostalgic, I also like that game developers use a bit more time thinking puzzles that seem more natural. Puzzles that don't seem like puzzles set up just for the purpose of having a puzzle here, but ones that seem like you could really face up a trouble like this in the situation like this. (Does this make any sense? If it doesn't, I apologize. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to put this idea to words.) It would be great to see non-TR fans finally give more credit to the game. It is all about the balance of keeping the old fans and getting new ones! Btw do I remember correctly that some of the DLCs would be first published in Xbox360? Can't say I'm surprised, but a bit disappointed still.. (read: a PS3 player.) Maybe they are trying to get more Xbox-players, being it that TR has always been more popular in PS. (P.S. If there is another place where you think this message would fit in better, please do let me know. I'm still trying to find my way around in here. )
