  1. Super! No update for Nvidia notebook cards yet, but so far I haven't had any problems aside from TressFX looking really stupid. Looks great on my "big" PC, but I mostly let my husband use that one to keep him out of *my* hair.
  2. More PC saves now available at TombRaiderHQ.
  3. I'll admit I'm impressed with the speed they're releasing PC and console patches this time. Quick response = happy fans.
  4. Hey, all. Sharing a tip sent to me by another player, Andrea, on how to avoid this game-breaking glitch or get around it if it has already occurred: I hope this helps someone.
  5. If you need help, just let me know. The instruction page on my site for downloading and installing save files explains how to find the files (in step #3). If you can isolate your the current save file and attach it to an email, that should do it. But feel free to ask if you have any issues.
  6. Glad to help if I can. If you want to send me your current save, I will gladly try and do the lantern toss for you and then send it back. I'm still not sure if swapping saves might accidentally prevent people from getting some achievements. Specifically, I'm not sure if things like relics, documents, etc., that I've found will count toward your totals for achievements. If you don't care about stuff like that, download away! But if you want, I'll be happy to try and do the lantern business for you. Just email your save to stellalune at tombraiders dot net and remind me it's yours.
  7. Sorry I misunderstood. Didn't mean to be critical. Just trying to make sure everyone feels welcome here, regardless of their playing style. People who enjoy the challenge of beating everything themselves can certainly do that, but if someone wants to skip hard combat sequences, QTEs, or whatever is giving them trouble and just move on, that's fine with me and I'll help if I can.
  8. Thanks for posting the link, Lauren. I can't remember if I have a save for the point tora was asking about, but there should be something nearby. Note that the save files are experimental at this point. Some people have had trouble loading them, while others have had no problems. I've included some notes on the instruction page. Also, I'm not sure whether using someone else's saves can glitch your achievements. I suspect it can, since items they found will not count toward your total but will be missing from the maps should you try to find them myself. So, at least until we figure out what's what, people may want to use downloaded saves only in emergencies. P.S. LaraCroftGamer, why so angry about this? If you don't want to use someone else's saves, by all means don't, but there's no need to criticize other players for asking or using them.
  9. You're welcome, but it's totally selfish on my part. If I can send them here, I'll be able to concentrate on writing.
  10. Thanks, Tom. It's been an ordeal but I'm pretty pleased with the results. I'm still tweaking a few things, but some of that is just going to have to wait until after this walkthrough.
  11. No internet for 2 days in the thick of Tomb Raider season! First some poor sod hit a tree in the snowstorm and took out the cable. Then when it came back on, I find my router had crapped out. Don't know if it was a power surge or just a coincidence, but you should have heard me cursing. Anyway, I'm back now and heading into the final area with all the previous hubs at 100%. I think I'll finish this afternoon provided the last bits aren't too hard. I enjoy playing on the Xbox too, but when the PC version is cooperating, it's just so much better for screenshots, video and walkthrough writing, since you can easily reload a save from just the section you need to examine. I could never do that on the Xbox. Moving save files is just too time consuming, and I can't afford an HD screen-cap rig. P.S. Thanks for the compliment, PapaD! Glad you like the redesign.
  12. Hey, Jim. Great to see you here! Everybody welcome, Jim. He's a loyal raider from way back, just like most of you. FWIW, I've been using an Xbox 360 controller on the PC since Legend or maybe Anniversary--can't remember--and highly recommend. One caveat: I got a cheapie version from GameStop with their branding on it, and it's not plug-and-play with the computer like the Microsoft brand ones are. Can't imagine why, but I figured I'd mention it. Learned that one the hard way. I'm only at 29%. This game must be a lot bigger than I thought it would be. (10-15 hours my aunt Fannie!) In any case, the snow is falling, I've got groceries laid in and there's no reason not to play well into the night.
  13. I've been going into the Steam users file and copying the three saves into a separate folder for backup every so often. I try to at least keep a save at the beginning of each new area. On my Windows 7 system, it's C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\xxxxxx\203160\remote (where xxxxx is a number representing my Steam account and 203160 is some code for Tomb Raider). My son and I both have Steam user profiles on both our PCs, so there's a numbered folder for each of us with separate folders for game data inside. It's probably similar on Vista and Win 8.
  14. Excellent! WTG! Someone told me I'm in there too but I haven't seen it yet. So nice of them to recognize the fans again.
  15. 58% done. Had to quit out a bit earlier because the graphics decided to pitch a fit in the middle of a rather intense battle (disappearing objects and multicoloured lines across the screen), then it did this when I went to the menu: 2013-03-06_00011.jpg It was all fine when I quit out and then restarted the game, but not the best thing to happen when I'm trying to murder people Apparently the game is giving problems for people with Nvidia graphics cards because CD gave them the game code too late for them to do anything useful with it. Lara....Laaaaraaaa....come toward the light! Wow! You guys are zipping along. I feel so slow. To my credit, I've found everything in the previous areas so far, but it's taken a while. Overall impressions are that (1) I suck at combat and I'm dreading the coming fights some of you have mentioned, and (2) this game sure is gorgeous! My son is way ahead of me already, so I've been able to sneak a few peeks over his shoulder at some of the areas to come. Looking forward....
  16. Excellent! Not gonna watch any of these (I hope) but it's great to know they're here.
  17. Thanks for the link, Tom. I also posted a little narrative about our day at the con, which is here and also linked from the page about the demo. I tried to post a lot of boring detail about the demo, since I know a lot of hardcore players are interested in stuff like which button does what, how the moves work, what the menus say, etc. But if anyone has questions about things I didn't cover, feel free to ask. Hopefully before too long we'll all be able to download and play it.
  18. What a great time! So nice to finally meet you IRL, Tom. Congrats on your archery win! (He was awesome, you guys! ) Please share photos if they turned out OK. Crystal has not been too forthcoming about when the whole world will be able to play the demo, but let's hope it'll be soon. As Tom will attest, I really need to practice my bow hunting before the game comes out.
  19. Yes, yes! Map! I'll have some of that, please. And sorry about the gerbil hope he/she/it is OK.
  20. And then there were three.... Glad you decided to drop in, Jerad. I'm not sure who's still hanging around besides me and Stefy, but I expect people will come and go. I think it will still be fun with just a few. I'm working my way through the jungle now, taking screenshots like a tourist instead of an adventurer, but that's how I roll. lol I'll try and post again soon.
  21. I don't know how long it's going to take me to complete this game. My classic TR skills are very rusty, but I'm still interested. No hard feelings toward those who've dropped out. I can't possibly expect everyone to hang around and play at my snail's pace. But I'm happy to see a few of you have come back. I posted a bunch of new screenshots and a couple of videos for the training level. Nothing major to report but I have finally added a few very old tips that several players sent in. For example, instead of doing the running jump and sprint through the timed door of the treasure room, pull the switch, wait, pull it again, and then run/sprint through as the door is opening. So simple...but too simple for me to figure out. lol Also, a few good spots to use the crawling corner bug to get into the racetrack without bothering to get the key. Those are shown at the end of this video (starting at 2:03): @Stefy: I love your screenshots! Do you like playing with widescreen setting? I can't decide if I like regular or wide? Sometimes things look distorted/streched out with 16:9 aspect ratio, but your screens look fine. I guess I will continue with 4:3 since my earlier screenshots are all that way. @Stefy/Mute2Conversations: The crystals are green in the PC game. Wonder why they changed that? Wonder why they even have them in the PC game since you don't use them to save. They work like a small medipak, restoring half Lara's health, which just seems unfair all around to PlayStation gamers. @Eldin: I guess you've moved on to TR4 now. I hope you'll still drop in and say hi sometimes.
  22. I do read your posts and enjoy them. I'm subscribed to the thread and read everyone's posts, but I'm sorry I haven't responded to each player individually. And, yes, that's what I heard about the quad bike moving more slowly in the PC version. I don't know if it's true, but I've been able to get it out of the track by driving. I may just be a bad driver. Here's a new technique I haven't tried yet, but some of the comments say it works on PS1 but not on PC. I'm determined to do it someday, but I just don't want to bother with it now.
  23. Stefy, I love your posts. Definitely post as long and as many screenshots as you want. I didn't reply in detail last time mostly because I'm trying to catch up. P.S. If anybody has a video (or wants to make one) showing how to get the quad bike out of the racetrack, I'd love to borrow it. I've never been able to do it except by hacking the game files.
  24. Hi, everybody. It's great to see so many people joining the replay. I'm still in Croft Manor but almost done getting all the screenshots I need so I can move on to India. Nothing exciting to report except that I've finally taken the suggestion sent in by about 10 people for getting into the treasure room. You probably already know this (yeah, I'm a little slow) but if you pull the switch, wait for it to pop up again, and then pull it once more, you can run to the treasure room door while it's still opening. Much easier than the roll, jump, sprint technique. I'm also doing a racetrack key screenshot series and video, even though I usually just bypass the whole key sequence by using the corner bug to get up on the roof, dropping down onto the wall near the swimming pool, and then jumping over to the racetrack from there. So much simpler than all the button pressing and running. I guess I should include a short video for that as well. Eldin, I think your monitor must be brighter than mine. When I play on 3, I can't see anything. I have to turn it up to 7 or 8 and then I still end up brightening the screenshots and video a little so people can see the details that might be hard to make out with more "natural" looking lighting. Do my screenshots look much too bright to you? Maybe I need to fix my settings.
  25. Hey, everybody. Long time no type! I've finally finished my TR2 and Golden Mask replays and am at last ready to move on to TR3! What has it been, like a year now? I know. I'm slooooow! If anyone is interested in picking up where they left off--or starting fresh with me--I'd love some company.
