I looked, but I wasn't able to recover the file. :/ There are only two AutoRecover files in the folder - one from today, after she saved over the file, and one from March. o.o But again, thanks for suggesting : )

How do you manage to control Lara in places she only enters in cutscenes? I've read about it loads of times before, but I've never figured out how to do it. D'you need the flight patch?

Yup, she's on MS Office. I don't remember being able to locate any AutoRecovery files, but I'll try looking again once she gets home (the files are in her laptop and she's taken it to work with her). I'm losing hope, though, since everywhere I look, people say the chances of recovering a document that's been written over are next to none, and my failed attempts at it indicate the same. Ah, well. :/ Thanks for the suggestion, though!

You know, I hated the adrenaline dodge when I was playing the first two levels of the game. I wasn't used to playing on the PC so the controls in general were giving me a hard time. But I managed to master it before the T. rex fight, and when I did, I started using it every opportunity I could. Once you get the hang of it, it's an incredibly useful move. I only died once when fighting the centaurs and never died when fighting the torso boss and Natla. I do hope, however, that if CD decide to bring it back for TR8, they don't make it an essential move like it was in TR:A. As in, it's there if you want to use it, but you should be able to do the whole game without using it once if you want to. I imagine it'd be painfully frustrating for the surprisingly large number of people who had/have a lot of trouble with it in Anniversary to have to face it in yet another game.

My mother was working on her dissertation for her master's degree and accidentally saved over the file. She hasn't lost everything, but has lost a particularly difficult piece of work she'd been working on the past couple of days. Is there any way for her to recover the previous version of the file? Any help would be greatly appreciated. She's desperate.

Any clue how a GeForce 8600 GT video card would handle PS3 graphics? It's the one I have, and unfortunately, I don't actually know a whole lot about video cards. TR8 is the main reason (actually, the only real reason so far) I want to get a PS3, but I doubt I will, since last time I checked it cost $1700 here. My video card handles PS2 graphics a lot better than the PS2 itself (or at least that's how it looks to me), but I haven't tried any next-gen games on it yet.

I'm replaying AOD, and I'm near the end of the Bio-Research Facility level. I've been encountering Vector R35 clips all over the place (and possibly in the Strahov Fortress level too - I can't recall), and I've been wondering if I was supposed to have picked up another Vector after Kurtis took Lara's at the Louvre. Were this any other game, I'd be sure I missed the pick-up, but since this is AOD I'm thinking this might be just another inconsistency, so I thought I'd ask. Help?

I killed Boaz in my first try too, though I can imagine why a lot of people had difficulty, given that Kurtis likes to believe he's a dazed ape rather than a, you know. Grown man who engages in regular exercise. Also, I played the game on PS2 but recently I gave the PC version a shot and it's much more difficult to control Lara and Kurtis. I don't think I would've found the battle so easy if I'd played it on the PC. Even still, I do agree that Eckhardt and Karel were a whole lot easier than Boaz or even the Red Ghost.

I'm in the second Egypt level (Obelisk of Khamoon), right at the end. I've got the Eye of Horus and the Ankh of Isis, and Stella says the underwater gate way down below is supposed to open when you take the Scarab of Osiris from the depression in the pillar. But I grab the Scarab, jump down into the water and the gate is still closed. Help? edit: ...there are four symbols on the wall just above the gate. I'm missing one artifact. Heh. Ignore this, talk amongst yourselves! And lock this whenever possible, please?

So I finally got the game yesterday. I haven't had that much time to play, so I'm only in the City of Vilcabamba. It's been kind of tricky mastering the controls, specially the combat system (that Adrenaline Dodge, argh), because I'm a PS2-er but I'm playing this one on the PC. Still, the game looks really promising and I'm really excited about it. I just hope the adrenaline dodge doesn't kick my butt when the time comes to fight the T. rex. edit: Managed to fully master the controls, including the adrenaline dodge - which turned out to actually be very fun to perform once I got used to it. Finished Peru and am now in St. Francis Folly; hope to get it done tomorrow. I usually hate playing games on the PC, but I'm having bucketloads of fun playing this one. A vast improvement over Legend, and I really liked that one. edit II: Finished Greece! The battle with the centaurs was awesome. Very nerve-wracking, but I got them on my second try. On to Egypt

Around 9-10 hours to complete it, but add a couple more hours to that, since I'm replaying some of the levels to get all the rewards I missed my first time through. I only got this game yesterday. How pathetic. And! I only used a weapon other than the pistols twice. I used the assault rifle against Takamoto and That Weapon That You Use in the Last Level the Name of Which Shall Remain Unsaid Because of Spoilers Alas. I don't know, I couldn't be bothered to constantly have to stock up on ammo and such. I had the assault rifle with me with full ammo and as many clips as I could possibly carry but I never took it out. What goes on in your mind?, you ask. I have no idea.
