Yeah... Lara won't do the dodge when the T-rex gets enraged. I've gotten her to do it twice now, and I have no idea how I got her to do it those two times.

I could experiment a little more to find out what I'm doing wrong, but since I absolutely hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate boss fights I'm disinclined to.

The Rex runs toward Lara, the action slows down, I press either left or right and the roll/jump key and she's supposed to do the dodge move. Am I missing something here? Is the T-Rex supposed to be a certain distance away, or am I too close to the walls or something? What tricks do I need to know?

I have a feeling the boss fights in this game are going to make me regret not playing in Easy mode...

I hope you have passed it when I'm typing this, but if you haven't then I can give ya a bit of advice.

Firstly make sure that the T-Rex's rage bar is 'almost' full, but do not make it go all the way. As it declines, make sure that you have one of the 'spiky' wheel things behind you. Shoot the T-rex more so that it roars and gets enraged. Keep your finger hovered over the right directional button (I like right, it's easier lol) and the jump button. As soon as the screen blurs dodge to the right. Wait for the two cross-hairs to turn red and shoot! It'll dizzy the T-rex. He'll then hit the spiky thing and be a bit damaged...anyhow, rinse and repeat!

Yes sorry I meant the crouch/roll button. You have to be very quick, especially in hard mode. The game is a bit unforgiving in Hard Mode with the slow motion. Even if the slow motion is happening whilst you are dodging you may have been just that little too late. BTW, it gets a lot harder later on in Hard Mode (not with crosshairs or bosses or anything).

Ok. when you have locked onto T-REX (RMB) keep it pressed all the time and do not let go. Continue to press LMB repeatedly to fire bullets until T-REX rage meter reaches the end. The T-REX will then charge at you. You can now stop firing bullets otherwise you wont get the 1 shot kill/damage but remember you still have RMB pressed. As soon as you see the arrows flashing on screen that is telling you its time to do the slow mo move so, When arrows flash press left or right movement key and also left shift at the same time (remembering you still have RMB (targeting) locked on/pressed) this will make you do a slow mo move/dive. (Remember if you do not keep the RMB (targeting) pressed all the time whilst doing this it will NOT WORK !. Once the slow mo move takes place and you still have the RMB pressed you will see 2 crosshairs that are white in colour DO NOT PRESS FIRE UNTIL THE 2 CROSSHAIRS TURN INTO ONE AND TURN RED IN COLOUR THEN you can press fire (LMB). (remember though you should still have the RMB pressed until this point. Then you can release the right mouse button and then press it again and go through it all again lol. (If i remember correctly its Possible to kill the T-REX if you get 3 slow mo shots in a row and the T-REX runs into the spike things after the slow mo shots.

and one more thing:

you can fire at the T-Rex from far away when the Crosshair are still WHITE and still cause its Rage meter to go up to full!!

After I mastered this move, I killed the T-Rex with just 3 attempts!!

I am thinking there is something wrong with the game, possibly because I changed the controls around. If I still can't get Lara to make the dodge move after a couple more attempts (and going back to a previous save) I'll restart the game in easy mode and see if that makes a difference. Otherwise I'll have to get a savegame from somewhere.

Ms. Croft mentioned this earlier but I'll say it again: To initiate adrenaline dodge you must wait until the enemy charges at you in "Rage mode". You'll be able to tell it's in Rage mode when an orange circle flashes above its head. Once it charges at you the screen will blur and it'll also have a slight redness around the edge of the screen. Once that happens, and it must be when the screen looks like that, press the "Roll" button along with a direction (best be "left", "right" or "back". Forward works but most enemies jump at you and flipping over them is useless).

You could always practice it in the earlier levels with the wolves and bears. Once you've got the hang of it it's second nature. It's also required later on for bosses as well.

Just make sure you're hitting the "roll" button and not something else. The "jump" button doesn't initiate the adrenaline dodge and rolling around is quicker and safer anyway =).

or just wait for the directional arrows to show up on the bottom right corner of the screen and press A and Shift at the same time while still have the gun locked on the T-Rex, Lara will jump sideway in slow motion, the 2 white reticles will become red, you will hear a PING and while STILL LOCKED on the T-Rex fire ONE SHOT ONLY!!

I've made a video, could someone possibly tell me what on earth I'm doing wrong here? Lara loses her lock with the gun when I stop shooting at the T-rex, but it doesn't seem to make a difference if I regain it.

The two or three times I managed to get Lara to do the move before, the t-rex lost hardly any health at all. I know that how much health it loses depends on where it hits, but it lost seriously very very little health those times.

I was just about to come and make this very thread.

Lara will not in any way do this dodge and its making me mad. I've read about it in the manual and I'm doing what it says, but she just will not do it at all. Theres not much else I can say... I'm playing on PS2.

Okay, I have figured out that I needed to keep the combat mode key pressed, and then she'll do it. This is a bit of a problem because I only have so many fingers... I might have to re-write the combat mode key to shift or something when I have to deal with this again. TR252, I have no idea what the combat mode button is on PS2, but try keeping that pressed when the tyrannosaur charges you.

Ah yes, you have to keep her guns aimed at the monster in question otherwise she will not do it. Anyhow, glad you have done it Shrensh! The next level is very exciting!

It didn't occur to me that I needed to keep the combat button pressed because it's extremely awkwardly placed to use while actually engaged in combat (it's mapped to G by default, which obviously makes trying to press it, the direction keys and shift all at the same time not terribly easy). It's much better now that I've re-mapped it though. I did try keeping Lara firing at the tyrannosaur while it was charging a few times but that didn't work.

EDIT: I've been informed that apparently the right mouse button enters combat mode too, but one of the first things I did was to re-map that key to Jump after I installed the game. Along with inverting the Y-axis

I have just managed to do the Adrenaline Dodge on PS2, after trying for hours and hours.

You must keep your finger on L1 whilst moving left or right and pressing O when the screen blurs.

Right, on this topic, i just thought i'd add that me and Panther are playing this through for the first time on hard mode. Both on our PCs, but she's using keyboard and i'm using an xbox 360 controller. I managed to do it after a few attempts and she wasn't able to, so I offered to try and do it for her. Although I use a controller I know the keyboard controls well from legend. It was pretty much impossible! I only managed to do the magic jump once in about fifty attempts. I swear those fellas at CD didn't try playing that through with a keyboard because with the default config it's unsane!

Anyway, I plugged my controller into her laptop and did it first time without missing a single 'adrenaline jump'.. which just shows the difference.

I can do it very easily using the keyboard and mouse now that I know how to get the Adrenaline Dodge to work every time. The key is to hold the combat key down all the time. I got confused myself because it says "Combat Mode Toggle" on the controls page, so I assumed that if you pressed the combat key once you were in combat mode, but apparently not... Plus I had re-mapped the default combat key and the alternative one was very awkward to keep pressed

yay lolz this really helps! I was having troubles with the same thing. I really hate fighting in the new TR games it is sooo difficult!! I changed my combat mode button so space lolz which isn't too bad, but i really hate the fact that you have to keep pressing the shoot button, my pinky is all tired out!!

For myself, I remapped the shooting function to "X" so that my short fingers can reach both that and the "duck" or "jump" buttons (L-Shift or Spacebar). I found that it works even better if I'm already running to the left or right with the cursor keys instead of the mouse, so that I can think about just hitting the combined shot-and-duck action without having to worry about going left or right. Of course, this works if you're already a fairly good distance away from T-Rex to give yourself enough time to get it set up right.

omg, finally - it took me like 2 hours, i got so tired and my fingers were nearly bleeding - I've got repetitive strain injury (again, lol) and I really did not get the hang of the adrenaline dodge at all! I tried but it was useless so i used up all my ammo and medipacks but I got there in the end.....hurrah!

Just in case anyone else is having trouble..... I found a rock/ledge next to one of those spiked wheel things. Unfornately I don't know which one, I ran the paremeter jumping mad trying to get away and found it. It's more of a rock outcropping next to the spiked wheel. It doesn't look safe but the T-rex is to big to fit and he just sits there trying to get you. I unloaded the pistols on him for about 5 minutes trait. It took a while but was I was able to save ammo and HEALTH. That dodge thing is too hard for me. Hope this helps.

you might want to go back and start that over cause you will need those Ammo and Medipacks for later.

Thanks. I somehow managed to get to the horsemen without the dodge thing but that fight forced me to get it. And yeah, once I got it , the fight was mush easier.

I posted this on another thread but if you keep flipping sideways as soon as the boss gets the rage up you should be able to get the reticules withough Lara going into a stupid crouch! It doesn't always work but I found that it works more often than not.

That explains it, it works on the PC only.

If he was working the PS2, it could not be done successfully.

However, I haven't seen the T-Rex yet, and I'm in The Lost Valley.
