BioShock, an rpg/fps game available on both 360 and PC (got the PC version). I did play the demo (360 version) and it's now available for the PC too. From what I've played so far, I recommend this game to those who are into FPS --- you know who you are! 2K Games announced today that BioShock is now available in North America and the 24th In Europe. The game has only received 90%+ scores from every publication and it is one of the serious candidates for Game of the Year. About the game: BioShock is a "genetically enhanced" first-person shooter that lets players do things never before possible in the genre. Gamers enter the game as a castaway in Rapture, an underwater utopia torn apart by civil war. Yup, I've downloaded the 360 demo and the gunplay is quite intuitive --- reminds me a lot of Max Payne except that your character, Tequila, has more moves thereby shooting the bad guys is more fluid and a lot less awkward unlike Max Payne. Quite violent in the John Woo style. I'll probably pick up the PC version instead --- fps and third person shooters always play best on mouse and keyboard and never with a gamepad imho.

Have started to re-play Oblivion (never finished but came close) and just picked up Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions after having tried the demo. You need an active Steam account to play the latter game. Oh, and Stalker: Shadows of Chernobyl. This game reminds me a lot of Deus Ex since it's a hybrid: part fps, part rpg. Both games make great use of battle tactics but going stealth is the wiser choice since going head on in attacks will easily get you killed.

I believe AoD was one of the first DirectX 9 games. I agree with you but to a certain extent. I have no problems with the game engine per se. The game looked amazing after I had installed DirectX 9 when compared to 8 (back then, I still had DirectX 8 installed; the game performed very poorly and looked unimpressive) ---- huge, huge difference in visuals and control. My only gripe were the basic movements I mentioned above. A little more tweaking and not releasing it with such an apparent problem would have done the game a greater good.

Way to go larsonsmother! That wall run and jumping to the column to the left gave me at least 30 minutes of frustration myself! I've just started Tomb of Tihocan.....

Oops... I wasn't referring to the moves you outlined Mike. I was referring to the basic forward, backward, etc. (WASD keys on the Keyboard) movements/control of Lara --- it was terribly frustrating, garbage in fact. LOL on your attempted low somersault

I don't hate AoD --- I simply don't like it: game play control issues, bugs all due to the fact that it was rushed to coincide with the second TR movie. I traded in the game as soon as I finished it The publishers, and not the developers, are to blame for this.

If you're concerned about gameplay controls for the pc version, I highly recommend getting and using a gamepad instead. You can then easily map the controls to whichever suits you best. I usually map the controls based on where I would map it on the keyboard: to picture what I'm about to describe, picture baseball diamond as an analogy. Homeplate is the jump button (button 2 on my Logitech Dual Action), button 3 (1st base) for Crouch, button 4 (2nd base) for the Zip line and button 1 (3rd base) to Interact; the top trigger button would be my primary fire for weapons, etc....

Anyway, I'm resurrecting this old thread back only because I've finally upgraded by computer --- 7 months later when I first mentioned it in this particular thread; and having started TR: Anniversary has prompted me to simultaneously play TR: Legend but this time, with the Next Generation video option on. I've forgotten how beautiful the latter game looks with this option on! Raiding on! BTW, nice screenshots there UltraLara!

Just finished The Lost Valley and will start Tomb of Qualapec tomorrow ...... oh wait a sec, tomorrow is today, lol... it's now 2:20am.... I guess it's time for some shut eye

^^^^ Agreed. Besides, most of the game is about tomb raiding and not combat shooting. If anyone has the pc version, use a gamepad instead; I will.

My PC meets the recommended specs and the framerates still dropped in one area of the demo. However, on my brother's PC, it ran beautifully; he had all display options on high --- that owing to the fact that he has 2 gigs of RAM, a dual core cpu and Nvidia's flagship vidcard to boot. Needless to say, I have to upgrade in the near future.

I think your PC needs an upgrade...... Anyway, not a bad demo --- liked it a lot. I used my gamepad; so much easier for me than using the mouse/keyboard. I'm eagerly looking forward to the game's release.

Burnout Revenge on the 360: race game; might pick up Need For Speed: Carbon edition Infernal for PC: interesting 3rd person shooter. This is the first game I've bought that recommended a dual core cpu. .... .... and soon the TR: Anniversary demo.....

Well, I double-checked the release date at my local store and their computer system has now updated the game's release to September! Cool! They're even accepting pre-orders too!

Splinter Cell: Double Agent on the 360.

Yup, Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast. My avatar refers to this very game. Great game. If he hasn't already, your husband should play its semi-follow up Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy where you'll be able to brandish two handed lightsabers or the lightsaber used by Darth Maul, ---- really cool moves too. So AJ=TR, have you finished Dreamfall yet? I'm wondering what your thoughts are on the events that transpired on the latter end of the game. I personally never saw that coming. Vey surprising indeed!

I have installed Starforce games a number of times and have personally not have any problems --- that's not to say of course that i like having uninvited drivers installed in my HD. Personally speaking, I think it's a good idea to re-format your HD at least once a year. I do it. As for PoP, great trilogy albeit some pain-in-the-butt gameplay in all 3.

Yup, waiting for this one as well. While waiting for the game to come out, how 'bout playing both Max Payne games if you haven't already since both pay homage to Woo and Chow Yun–Fat.
