This is off topic but related to the PS3: I have 2 questions regarding the Sixaxis Controllers: 1.) According to the PS3 site , "[t]he SIXAXIS™ controller can be easily switched from wireless to wired." Is this referring to the USB cable that may be connected to the console? Probably is..... 2.) When fully charged, is it advisable to disconnect the USB cable or may I use the controller, while fully charged mind you, with the USB cable still connected to the console?.... If I do the latter, will this lessen the life of the rechargeable battery?

Picked Folklore up yesterday. Just started a wee bit of it...

Gears of War is great fun especially when played in Co-Op; my brother and I were always discussing tactics and strategy when gunfights ensued; but as you already know, we're both not the greatest when aiming with gamepads, lol. Of the games you quoted above, I'd recommend giving BioShock a shot --- part fps, part rpg --- many ways to dispatch the enemy --- just have to be creative with your given surroundings and the mods you have at your disposal. One players action will differ from another. It's quite reminsicent of Deus Ex with the powers of the Force, lol. Great fun!

Wow, thanks for all the advice regarding the PS3 and whatnot ---- I'll keep it in mind..... ... the thing is, a couple of hours ago, I went and got the 80 gb version and it came bundled with a game; I also picked up an HDMI to HDMI cable so I can view and play games up to 1080p on my HD tv. I've read about the Intercooler and Pelican cooler when I was researching how to cool my 360. There were mixed reviews from both users and review sites alike; mind you however, these reviews applied to its usage on the 360 where heating was and is still a problem (red ring of death as its called, lol). I'm assuming the Intercooler works well for you? When using the PS3, I'll be placing it on the coffee table free from any surrounding obstructions so airflow is at its maximum. I haven't heard of any heating problems regarding the PS3 ---- have you?.... As for Folklore, it reminds me a lot of this certain game you may have heard of called Beyond Good and Evil --- action, stealth and adventure and a little dose of humour mixed in; BP has also played it. The conversation in the former game is reminiscent of the one found in the latter. Looking forward to Folklore!

Man, is it nice to be a console and pc gamer this time of year. Sooo many Triple A titles that have been released (BioShock, Halo 3, Orange Box: Half-Life 2, HL: EP 1 & 2, TF 2, Portal) and are coming out this time of year (Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, Crysis). Just watched the video review of the game on IGN --- very interesting. I like the RPG elements that's integrated into the game. I'll keep Folklore in mind as I'm planning on picking up a PS3 soon either this year or the next.

Just went through a major gunfight against numerous antlions! HEhe great fun that was! Presently, I've a Vortigon as my companion in arms --- wish I had his lightning powers. I tried a bit of Portal last night --- looks mighty interesting. Back to gaming.... BTW, what's the bug you've encountered?

ATM, I'm trying to figure out how to open a gate very early on in the game in the train yard station. EDIT: Just got on the roof of an adjacent buildiing to the gate! Yes! .... moving on!

Well, the release date for the PC has been delayed till early 2008 http://pcgames.gwn.com/news/story.php/id/1...yed_For_PC.html .... but the PS3 and 360 versions are still on track for a November release.

I've already beaten the game and plan to have another go at the most difficult level --- but at a later time --- too many games coming out for the PC and 360

I'm assuming one can get Episode 2, TF2 and Portal separately w/o having to get the Orange Box package seeing as I already have HL 2, HL2: Ep 1. I know there is this "gift" idea that Valve is offering.....

Almost finished Bioshock Half way through Stranglehold Just started Halo 3

It turned out I didn't have to line up because I found a smaller game shop ---- right across from where I work ---- that apparently is not well known by other avid gamers like myself. Because I couldn't leave my post, a co-worker of mine offered to pick up the game for me and 20 minutes later, Halo 3 was in my hands . I was informed there were only about 20 people waiting; this particular store actually opened 11:30pm unlike Best Buy and other retailers that opened at 12am midnight. The particular Best Buy store I was planning on going to after work had an estimated 800 people waiting to pick up a game as heard through the radio on my drive home from work. I'm glad I wasn't one of them!

I picked up the PC version today and obviously started the game from the beginning. I'm enjoying it more since I have better control with aiming so that's big plus in my books. I've just destroyed the 16 drug labs. EDIT: Just finished Chapter 2: Tai O and will be starting Chapter 3: Mega Restaurant tomorrow. BTW, the PC version has some added shooting sequences in the chopper gun section.

Well, I'm recanting what I said above ---- I'm getting this game! A few selected BestBuy stores, such as the one near where I work, are opening its doors at 12am (midnight) ---- I may just drop by after work and most likely join the long lineup.

I've rented the 360 Stranglehold for the coming week; PC version not available till Sept 16 I'm told. Not bad so far. ATM however, I'm stuck with a rail gun sequence that's really starting to piss me off --- the aiming issue with a gamepad. The game features checkpoints and no "save anytime" slots so I've been re-playing this particular part for the upteenth time --- taking a break from it. Just venting off...... UPDATE: Yes!! .... finally made it through and got that wanted checkpoint . It's time to rest!

FPS are best played on the PC and not on consoles --- gamepad aiming is inferior to the mouse/keyboard combo. Don't get me wrong, I like Halo and I do have a 360 but I refuse to get this game only because of this particular gameplay aspect. I'll most likely rent it to give it a shot. BTW, you never know, Halo 3 may be ported to PC like its two predecesors before it. There are a number of solid FPS on PC, the most recent being BioShock, of which I'm currently playing, and the highly anticipated Crysis come November.

NOLF is short for The Operative: No One Lives Forever --- a great, hilarious and very engaging fps that came out for the PC and later for the PS2. Because it won Game of the Year honours, a GOTY edition was released together with the game's soundtrack which I immediately snatched up and a follow up was released, NOLF 2, a few years later. Near perfect games: NOLF Deus Ex The Longest Journey Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Gears of War BioShock (BP, you gotta play this!)
