im a very big fan of scary movies i luv em

i watched 2 scary movies yesterday night with my mum when a stranger calls and saw 3

i didnt really enjoy saw 3 its more of a blood thirsty type of scary movie and the rest of them

when a stranger calls is a really good film has anyone else seen it?

We just watched "The Golden Compass" today and I am greatly disappointed;

I felt the story moved too fast without any continuity and relation to each other (i.e. bunch of scenes stuck together incoherently to form a 2 hours film) and most of the key parts of the story are too difficult to comprehend if you haven't read the book (like me).

Plus Craig and Green didn't have much screen time and characters come and go and you don't know who they are!!

Furthermore they left the ending open for a sequel but I doubt there will be any sequels!!

sorry but I have to give it 1.5 out of 5!!

I agree, the first book finished that way.

Also J7 - the reason Daniel Craigs character didn't have much screentime was because Lord Asriel wasn't in the book that much - his is not the main character.

Just returned from seeing the Golden Compass and we all enjoyed it. It does jump from one place to another but that is part of the story and there is a verbal link in the previous screen so you know where they are - but I do think it helps to have read the book. Definately worth seeing.

They did trailers for 'I am Legend' and 'Inkheart' which both look good as well as 'St Trinians', which does look like a fun movie (although J7 seems to be impressed by the mini skirted actresses rather than that LOL), apparently Rupert Everett based his headmistress on Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall - our future Queen

Speed Racer is gonna be live action and you couldn't of got better directors for this one, I can't wait to see it.

I love movies! First I can't wait to rent Eastern Promises. I have been waiting forever cause it didn't come to theaters in my town. Soon Sweeney Todd comes out and I can't wait! The trailer was awsome! and over the break I am having a Soprano marathon! My x-mas is going to be full of Movies!

a word of warning;

Eastern Promises has an extremely brutal fight scene complete with a special surprise - definitely not to be viewed by anyone under 17 or anyone who is squeamish about seeing blood and gore!!

I agree with Legend -- might even give it a 5 out of 5! It was intense, scary, and had some nice family/friends moments in it.

I'm going to see Nat'l Treasure soon, hopefully. I've heard some people on here and offline say it stunk, but then 2 people I know just told be they loved it. So, If I get a chance this weekend, I'll see it.

Oh, I just found out that they raised the movie tickets by $1 and it's already expensive, now it's more hmph! hmph! and HMPH! Guess I will wait till it comes out on DVD to rent it.

I know what you mean. How do they expect everyone to bother paying such high prices when you can wait 3 months and see it for under $5? We're probably going this weekend, but only because the kids got gift cards from their aunt for Christmas. That means I only have to pay for 2 tickets, but still! We buy our snacks and bring 'em...the prices on movie snacks is like highway robbery. We only get the popcorn...for the experience, yeah that's it!

I'm torn between seeing Nat'l Treasure this weekend and The Golden Compass. Any suggestions???

I just watched Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines....I don't know why I didn't see this movie before now, it had plenty of action and stuff getting blown up (which I like)...a great movie overall IMO, I give it two thumbs up

I just bought a copy of this myself because I haven't seen it either and it was on sale at Tesco for £2 Good to know that my £2 was well-spent; I'll be watching it this weekend. Explosions are good

Thanks, TR252! We didn't get to go yet, because everyone was too busy, lol. We'll probably just see National Treasure now, and wait for the Golden Compass to come out on DVD. I just finished the Golden Compass book, which is why I was interested. But movies based on books aren't always good.

I didn't see it, but my daughter said her friends didn't like it. Considering the fact that they're teenagers, and said it's pretty gory, I think I'll pass.

I watched Sweeney Todd, mainly cuz I like Johnny Depp. The movie isn't bad, and they don't show alot of the gore that could have been shown. Most of it is the "thought" of it. Being a musical is probably why the teens didn't care for it. LOL

I went to see I am Legend today....wanted to see AVP-Requiem, but it was only being shown in the evening and I wasn't going to go to the theater then....

Anyway....I am Legend is a good movie in my opinion, I was really on the edge of my seat in one of the scenes ( I was the only one watching it since it was early). Will Smith does alright for this movie, but I don't think it'll land him an oscar.

It's an awesome film, isn't it?

I won't ruin it for you, but the book is quite a bit different, and better, in my opinion. The book was my Dad's ages ago, and he gave it to me for my 8th Birthday as I was into reading and wanted something a bit more challenging to read. I loved it, personally, but it's nothing like the film, which is good in a way, because then I can't compare them. I think they're both fantastic.
