I am posting this thread because lately, it seems there has been quite a few videos on YouTube and other internet Video hosting sites showing Police Officers who are sworn to serve and protect the public who abuse their power and the Citizens they are paid by our TAX money to protect.

and no it's not fake because I did call the Police Chief of that small Missouri Department and complained:

I was sitting at a red light in the city of Southside, a small 3 square miles municipality here in Houston, TX. This was about 24 years ago. There was a City of Southside patrol car in the lane next to mine and we sat there together waiting for the light to turn green. When it did and we started moving, he got behind me and pulled me over and said I ran the red light. When I told him that how is that possible when we both sat at the light together waiting for it to turn green, he said he wasn't there. Then he told me to get out of the car, made me turn around and handcuff me and arrested me because I was fit the profile of a suspicious person they were looking for (yeah, a 18 year old teenager driving an old Van with no A/C who also happens to be Italian and we all know Italian Young Men are all Mafia Hitmen and Goodfellas, don't we?). He then searched my vehicle, he found some videotapes that I was gonna go return and he accused me of stealing those. I told him to call the phone number printed on the videotape cases and he can verify that they are not stolen and he wouldn't. He said I don't tell him what to do!! He then said my inspection sticker and registration stickers were fake because according to him, by Texas Law, they should be place on the windshield no further than 3 inches apart from each other (the law is 6 inches by the way) and he proceeded to rip them off with a pocket knife. He took me to jail on charges of running a red light, displaying fictitious State documents (the registration and inspection stickers), possession of stolen property (the videotapes). I was allowed one phone call and I called my parents. My parents came and got me out of jail. I was released on a $500 bond; had to pay a $120 storage fee to get my truck out of storage plus $10 for another State Inspection and $35 for another Registration Sticker. We took the City of Southside Police Department and that Officer, Sergeant Bell, to Court along with a formal complaint to TCLEOSE (Texas Commission on Law Enforcement) and we won a nice sum of money plus Sergeant Bell lost his Law Enforcement Commission to practice being a Peace Officer in Texas. Furthermore, the judge ordered the City of Southside to have this incident expunged from my DPS driving and criminal record.

Have you had any run ins with the Police that you felt the Officer(s) were unjustified in stopping you in the first place (lack of Probable Cause)?

Gosh, I'm sory to hear that happen to you It actually happens all the time down in Tijuana LMAO! just give them $5.00 and they will let you go hahaha! but the system overthere is like really messed up anyway ... Yeah one time my boyfriend was driving and they stopped him becasue supposedly his car exhaust was too loud (which wasn't) and they can hear it miles away and it was against the law or some sh*t like that, then they were checking his car and they were making all this BS stuff up. Then some other car passes by right infront of us that had a way louder car exhaust, well why don't they chase him hu? shesh! The funny thing is that I have noticed police stopping the most vehicles like on the last week of each month.

My dad is funny sometimes, one time he was taking me to buy food at my favorite chicken place, and he didn't stop at the Stop Sign on purpose becasue he "didn't see any cops around" so he felt like he could, and then when we arrive at the place a police dude came up:

Police: Sir, do you know why I'm stopping you for?

Dad: No I do not.

I had such an instance happen to me a few years ago. Me and a few co-workers at Taco Bell were working the late shift. After work we decided to head to the Waffle House to get something to eat. As we got there a Gastonia city police officer gets behind me and turns on his blue lights, when I had stopped, he gets out of his car and comes up to my window. He asks for my driver license, which I showed him from my wallet. He says he pulled me over because he saw someone drinking and asked where we work at, and I told him "Taco Bell." he then takes one of my co-workers cups and takes a sip from it, thinking it had some sort of alcoholic beverage in it, of course it didn't and he gave it back. He let us go after that, we still went on to eat...but we all threw away our drinks after what that officer did.

Fortunately for me all my dealings with law enforcement have been good ones. Sometime earlier this year someone made a crank call to the police to say that a woman was being assaulted in our house, so the police turned up and ran around the house looking in all the rooms with their nightsticks out. They were very polite about it though

FACT: Chief Uhrig was determined to have made sexual advances towards a 17-year old girl seven years ago as an Arnold police officer. He lies to internal affairs about the matter.

FACT: A check of court records shows Kuehnlein himself pleaded guilty of assault and stealing in two different cases, in 1988 and 1990. He successfully petitioned a judge in St. Louis County in 1998 to expunge his criminal record, which was making it hard for him to get work as a cop. I called Chief Uhrig to ask him about the case where he made sexual advances toward a 17-year old girl when he was a Police Officer and he got very irate; I told him he shouldn't even be a Peace Officer much less a Police Chief!!

When I first bought my car, I was always getting pulled over because the dealership put the temp tag in the back window. I own a Sunfire and the back window was really slanted. Anyway, the police kept saying that they couldn't see my tags. They still asked to see everything and one time, I was lucky, I ran a stop sign and I still had on my Wal-Mart vest and I don't know, she let me off with a warning. (I think it may have been she saw my name badge and knew how much trouble it is to work at Wal-Mart.)

But there have been times when Officers have harrassed my, Like one time I was pulled over because I was goin 65 in a 45, but my odometer read 40. He kept harrassing about it and when he gave me the ticket, I told him I would see him in court. Needless to say he no longer is with the APD.

When I was 16 I ran a redlight and got pulled over by a cop. He started harassing me pretty bad, chewing me out and screaming and what not. He even called my mom right there and started harassing her too! It was so bad that when I got home, my mom said "Im not even going to punish you for running the redlight. Sounds like that cop was punishment enough."

I hate cops.

they are now reporting that the commuter lot where this occured is outside St. George's City Limit so Sergeant James Kuehnlein had no jurisdiction there in the first place!!

Sergeant Kuehnlein should never even had approached Mr. Darrow and asked him what he was doing there and furthermore, what was Sergeant Kuehnlein doing outside of the St. George's City Limit while being on duty in a marked patrol car and doing traffic stops where he had no Police Power?

Of course he gave me a ticket. I didnt even think to file a complaint. I was so young at the time, I didnt know anything about my rights as a citizen. I thought cops could do just about anything they wanted. Naturally I know a little more than that now.

In the latest sign of the risks of asking questions of politicians, police tasered a University of Florida student yesterday in Gainesville at a town hall meeting run amok.

Andrew Meyer, a senior in journalism and communications, was questioning Sen. John Kerry about why he did contest the results of the 2004 election. When his diatribe on secret societies, Iran and a mysterious "yellow book" ran over the one-minute mark, his microphone was cut off. Unconcerned with this violation of civilized Q&A decorum, the 21-year-old Meyer continued to speak, sarcastically thanking the organizers for cutting of his microphone.

Officers approached him several times to wrap it up, but he declined. University Police then proceeded to remove him from the auditorium.

Before his Miranda rights had even been read, the outspoken student asked loudly, "What are you doing? I want to stand and listen to him answer my question. Why are you arresting me for asking a question? I didn't do anything." The six officers then grabbed ahold of his shirt, pulled him to the ground and cuffed him.

Throughout this disturbing display, Kerry remained stoically focused on answering the young man's questions (the ones to him, not the ones he asked the police). Even as Meyer's shrieks grew in urgency, the Massachusetts senator reflected calmly on the importance of not contesting the results of the 2004 election.

Kerry's voice, however, was no match for Meyer's, who despite not having a mic continued to hog the audience's attention with such glib catch phrases as: "Help me! Help!" and "What are you doing! Get off of me! Don't Taser me, bro! Oh my God! OH MY GOD!"

Rather than cheer the police officer's successful apprehension however, a number of students appeared displeased by the efficiency. One even went so far as to say he was "appalled." Shouts of "police brutality" could be heard from the crowd while Kerry urged the audience to "cool down" and acknowledged that Meyer had raised a genuinely important question, (referring to the 2004 election query). Last evening Meyer was charged with a third-degree felony for resisting arrest with violence, according to reports.

From that article and that video, that guy looks like a total idiot to me. He should have acted like a civilized human being, respected the one-minute time limit, and left when the officers asked him to, instead of forcing them to remove him and then resisting and making a giant scene about it. The tasering may have been a bit much, but I'd've been tempted to taser him too

as a former Police Officer, I have many times force a suspect to put his hands behind his back without using a Taser (we didn't have them in the mid 80s) or a Baton.

It probably had something to do with the "claim culture" that seems to have people suing for compensation at every opportunity, and where forcing his arms might have resulted in bruising or worse, the taser would leave no long term effects if used correctly.

That's just crazy J7! He thought that you stole the tapes and those other dumb excuses!! But my dad is so funny!! This doesn't go with the topic, but we went to a mall, so we go in the parking lot. Then its full. My dad says my sister's leg was broken (as she was with us and her broken leg was a lie). So the police man let us go park where it was illegal!!

here's the email I sent to UTAH DPS:

Trooper John Gardner acted improperly and I tell you why:

1. he did not explain to Mr. Massey what he was signing; sure it is a speeding ticket but he is required to say: "I have cited you for going X number of miles over the speed limit; by signing this you are not admitting guilt, you are merely acknowledging receiving this citation and you agree to appear in court on X day of X month."

Mr. Massey was just trying to protect his own right to due process in that case; he didn't want to sign blank ticket and then let the Trooper fill in any charges he wanted on it? I wouldn't and I know you wouldn't either.

2. Right from the beginning of the video when Trooper Gardner was parked on the side of the road in front of the 40 mph speed limit sign and when Mr. Massey vehicle drove by, you can tell immediately that Mr. Massey could not had been going over 40 mph or even 40 mph.

3. By Law here, if asked to do so by a driver pulled over for speeding by a Patrol Car equipped with Radar, the Officer has to show the driver the reading on the radar showing what the speed limit setting is and what the actual speed the driver was clocked going; Trooper Gardner didn't do so.

4. Trooper Gardner lied to the other officers on the video about the whole situation.

5. Trooper Gardner is supposed to control the situation instead he cause it to escalate it by acting unprofessional; Mr. Massey surely has heard and read and seen on tv and on the internet videos of Officers who tasered people for no reason at all and some of the have died; he was merely trying to protect himself, his wife and his newborn baby.

6. Trooper Gardner failed to read Mr. Massey his Miranda Rights; anytime an Peace Officer arrests a suspect he is required by Law to read the suspects his rights especially in this case where he is arresting Mr. Massey for a charge bigger than speeding.

7. Trooper Gardner had no rights to search the Driver's area of Mr. Massey's vehicle when he already told Mrs. Massey that the vehicle will not be impounded and she was free to go. That is unlawful search and seizure.

8. Trooper Gardner needs to be terminated and then charged with assaulting Mr. Massey and violating Mr. Massey constitutional rights to due process, to be protected from unlawful searches, to be protected from false arrest.

And before you start saying I am just another little people who sits behind a computer all day and thinks he knows everything from just watching a video; I was a Police Officer in the mid 80s here in Texas and I have never once abused the rights of anyone or abused my Police Authority!!

How do you expect the public to trust the Police anymore? There has been so many incidents of Officers abusing the public they are entrusted to protect; even if the person they are arresting is suspected of committing a crime, no matter how heinous or brutal that crime maybe, that suspect is still entitled to be treated like a human being and he/she still has the right to be tried in court.

There is also the question of the use of the Tasers.

Tasers were issued to Police Officers to reduce the amount of deaths caused by Deadly Force shooting yet more people are dying from Tasers nowadays.

The incident in a Georgia Prison where a community church deacon was tasered 6 times in 24 seconds while being held down by 6 prison guards with one of them having his knee pressing down on his heart; the incident in Vancouver Airport where 4 Royal Canadian Mounted Police Officers tasered an Polish passenger just because he didn't speak English and none of the Officers took the time to find an interpreter-they tasered him and killed him only less than 1 minute after initially confronting him; the incident in Pasadena TX where a suspect whose only crime was Public Intoxication was tasered after being handcuffed and pushed face down on the ground and he died in custody;

then there are many Taser incident that the suspect didn't die but the Officer involved for using the Taser were questioned in their procedure; like the incident at the University of Florida or UCLA.

A Taser doesn't give the Officer CARTE BLANCHE to be trigger happy; the human body is not made to handle that much voltage and some people who may have weaker heart or other preexisting condition are likely to die from using it.

The UTAH DPS has a 9 page policy regarding the use of Taser and I doubt Trooper Gardner took every paragraph in that policy in account before using his Taser.

Terminate Trooper Gardner!!

That same trooper was on the CBS early show. Even I wouldn't sign a citation that wasn't filled out and not explained to me what it was for. Tasering that man because he refused to sign is uncalled for, he didn't make any attempt to attack.

Yeah I agree, that trooper should be teminated and face any consequences that his actions bring on him.
