  1. I bought the base game when it came out and waited for things to settle down a bit, so on Friday I bought the Croft Edition, which includes the season pass and a whole lot of other lovely stuff from the deluxe edition. This made a lot of sense for me, because Steam works massively in my favour on the local currency exchange rate, so I ended up paying about US$6. Anyway, I can now enjoy many more hours of fun in Shadow and it's rekindled my interest. Nothing worse than wandering around an empty Lara universe.
  2. I found that standing on the nearby rock helped with the bear, although you have to be quick jumping onto it.
  3. Do you mean that rolling back to the beta version made you lose the DLC? How about if you rolled back, as I did, find a base camp to save your progress, and then reverted to the current version of the game? I'm guessing here, but it seems a logical step to try.
  4. Merry Christmas from a hot and humid Buenos Aires, where I've actually managed to find some English ale!
  5. Ha ha Blimey, that never occurred to me at all, so I'll give it a try. Thanks to both.
  6. I've read a few guides that say the classic outfits like TR 2 don't need any special crafting or whatever, but when I select them, the equip option doesn't appear. I've completed all the main storyline and am at 69% completion, so I'm wondering if I'm missing something here.
  7. This one took me a while because there are levers to push and pull and without spoiling it, I found that I had to use a combination of W and left arrow keys together. This is because I've remapped many of my key bindings, so it was trial and error. I'm also glad that this tomb wasn't on a timer. Now that would have been challenging.
  8. During the last major boss fight, I noticed some weird artefacting with little green, red and white pixels appearing on screen. I know my system is up to playing the game since it's a new Ryzen 2600X/RX580 build. Anyway, this was only happening when DirectX 12 was selected in the options menu, and yet DX11 was just fine. I posted the problem in the Steam forums and SE said they would look into it, but I'm not sure that they have yet. The solution is to turn SMAA to normal, ie not SMAA 2 or above, or simply disable it. Actually, there's not a huge performance difference between DX11 and 12, so it's a little moot really. Here's a video of the glitching.
  9. All you can do is try. Maybe get through the weird wall, then find a base camp where you game will be saved. I don't have that DLC, so I don't know for sure.
  10. I found a solution on the Steam forum! This does work and the invisible wall is no longer there
  11. Here's another instance of the bug, this time from the other side and it's proving to be a cul de sac in many cases, because if you're stuck inside, you can't progress.
  12. Thanks for all your helpful replies. I'm glad I'm not the only one with this bug. I'm on PC by the way.
  13. I just rescued someone from prison by diverting the guards in Hidden City and now I need to rescue Colqui, outside the walls but I can't get out. Every time I go for the exit, there's an invisible wall. If I reload a checkpoint, of course I'm still within the walls and I can't use fast travel because there aren't any base camps in the Hidden City, as far as I know. Anyone know of a solution please? Here's a video which shows the problem
  14. I still play TR2 from time to time and love it. In fact, it's one of the first games I ever played on a PC.
  15. Hi everyone. I'm back following a visit to the UK and hope to visit the forum more often in future, especially now that Shadow has been released and I'm loving it.
  16. More to the point and since it's been said that Shadow is the last of the reboot (or words to that effect), what kind of Lara will arrive in the next incarnation? There's been talk of her having a family, but my feeling is that she'll become more troubleshooter, she'll explore more urban environments and be a go-to person for solving ancient mysteries, often being dragged out of retirement, which is maybe where a Lara daughter comes in. I'd like to see her parkouring around London, New York and Paris, like she did in AOD, Legend and TR3(?) and become more high-tech, with newer weapons and gadgets, now that we've passed the re-born stage. I think the formula will remain the same - the combat etc - why break it if it works? But the series does need a dramatic shift in direction and needs to be more tuned with the modern world that gamers can attune to. Either way, I'll still play TR, wherever Lara happens to go or become.
  17. After all the waiting, not to mention all that timed exclusive nonsense, I got the pleasant surprise of receiving Rise as a Steam gift from my editor which means writing a review for the PC version. All timed very nicely to coincide with my new GTX970 and SSD, on which the game runs like honey.
  18. The real battle is with Xbox/PS4 and when MS realised that sales weren't stellar from November on Xbox, they're hand was forced, hence the early release on PC. We have nothing to thank MS/Square Enix for, they're just playing the numbers game and will do everything to discourage sales of PS4, at least from MS' point of view.
  19. TR2 remake for me. Remember what a great job they did with Anniversary? TR2 was and is, a hard game and I can't remember how many times I've played it.
  20. Thanks for the pleasant welcome! I'm finding it hard to tear myself away from Rise, to be honest.
  21. Thanks Tom. I too have a few 3dfx machines, one with Voodoo 2 in sli which I still use for TR2 and Half Life.
  22. Long time TR fan here and playing since 97/98 in the days of 3DFX. My day job is running a PC repair shop where I also build gaming machines and write articles about gaming and other off topic stuff at Daves Computer Tips. I usually follow TR news and stuff through Stella's page, which is without doubt the best TR resource on the net. I also used to post on Katie's TR forum till it closed. Some may know me by my real name, Marc. I've only just installed ROTTR and it's blown me away. Great game.
