No its my day off, but I've had no time to myself, I have 2 Assignments to do for tomorrow that I haven't started even now at 9:30pm :s. I'm screwed.

and I'm REALLY sick of all the txts and phone calls off people that want me to talk to people for them, grrrr annoys me that people cant talk to people by them selves, I'm like a middle man that gets no money

not really a rant as such, but I'm catching up on posts in the forum whilst avoiding having to run my Tax Year End - because I hate it!! I just know that my figures won't reconcile and I'll be hours on end trying to find a pathetic sum of money just to please HM Revenue!!!

I tried to make things easier on myself this year by registering to submit my returns online - they sent me a PIN No. and a PIN verification number and a password, and hey, whaddya know, they don't bloody work - so I'll have to fill in P14's by hand again - and, uh oh, i'm actually starting to rant now.........back to work then.

My rant is 3 Mobile from the UK again

I just got a call on my mobile, my own personal mobile. the call was from them offering broadband on my laptop. what got to me is they called me up and made me answer security questions and questioned who I was, just to spam me with calls about broadband. The broadband is a joke anyway 2MB for £10 I pay around £5 for 2 MB what also annoyed me is the guy on the phone wasn't from the UK and I couldn't understand him... The one time I get signal from their crappy network and they call me still on 1 bar or signal if I get a txt i'll expect it to come through in a couple of days but they call me and the call magically comes through...

They randomly called you and asked security questions? Very strange, I wouldn't answer any of their questions, they might not even be from the phone company. Tell them to get lost

the questions were like are you the contract owner and can you confirm your number is they called the number how can they ask what my number is

as soon as I hear it's a sales call right after I answer my phone, I just hang up!!

anyway, I thought it was important cause they are my service provider but i've blocked the number they aren't getting through again

You shouldn't do anything to try and cause the person on the other side of the line pain. They're annoying but they're still people trying to make a living, and oftentimes it's the only work they can get. Just tell them you're not interested and hang up.

calls from some companies, especially mobile phone companies etc. can be very annoying etc. I just calmly tell them i'm busy at the moment or not interested - politely - it doesn't hurt to be civil.

I have to defend this profession at the moment as Hannah is currently working for a tele-marketing company part-time to fund her way through college - she doesn't get paid well and has to deal with some extremely rude and arrogant people so please bear in mind that these people are just doing their job and are not going out of their way to hassle you.

Why do my parents want me to get a new job? Believe it or not, I don't hate my job as much as they tell me I do.

I had a bad day, yes, we all do, and I ranted about it, yes, we all do that too! But then my Mom has been on this kick about how I can get a job somewhere else and telling me to look in the paper.

My dad even suggested cashiering again! I hated my job as a cashier!!

I like what I do, I make more money now than I did before, I'm gaining experience, and one day I'll be able to take all of this and put it towards a good paying job doing what I actually WANT to do for the rest of my life!

It's not going to look good on a resume if I keep quitting jobs, they won't think they'll be able to keep me for more than a few monthes. I'll never get another job again, I'd have better luck if I told them I just got out of jail.

You're right, TRXpert...it does look bad on your application if you keep changing jobs. As long as there's no saftey concerns, or harrassment, there isn't really any reason for you to quit your job. Maybe you can explain that sometimes we have stressful days at work, and need to vent, but that doesn't mean that most of the time you don't enjoy your job. Everyone has days on the job where they wish they were someplace else.

I worked at Shop n Save as a cashier. I didn't think the managers liked me. Not to mention, they wouldn't give an employee a sunday off to save a life.

Sunday was the one day I wanted off most of the time. I didn't mind working one here and there maybe, but they made me work every sunday, so I quit there after only a month.

Then my brother got me a job at Quaker Steak & Lube, a restaraunt that was in dire need of a reliable busboy, and when I got the job in December, it only took me a few monthes to become the best darn busboy this place has ever seen. Waitresses liked me so much they would tip me extra. And I was good, but sadly, I still wasn't making enough money, and I asked for a raise and got turned down, but my boss offered to put me on a new position working the take-out window in the back. Now that's what I'm doing and I'm making nearly double what I was making, and still tips(not as many tips, but still tips).

That's what I'm doing now, since December last year.

I agree with you simply because of the way my Mom taught me about how to approach jobs.

When I was about 13 years old, I was getting to that age where I wanted shoes, clothes, games, etc, and would ask my Mom to buy them for me. Being naive, I just assumed she would, however she told me that if I wanted to get something, I would have to earn the money to buy it. Don't get me wrong, however, my Mom was extremely generous in other areas such as taking me on holiday until I was 18 and letting me live at her house rent free until I moved out, plus, of course being amazingly generous on my birthdays/Christmas.

However, because I wanted these shoes, clothes, etc, I got a job to pay for them as a kitchen porter (basically someone who washes up dishes), and I hated it. I used to come home miserable and that's when my Mom actually did interfere. She advised me to quit my job because, unless you're in desperate need of money, you might as well be happy in the job you're doing because it's just not worth it otherwise. She made it clear that I still had to earn the money for the stuff I wanted, so I job hunted until I found one I wanted to do, and that's the way it's always been since I started working. I don't think since then I've ever had a job I didn't want to do, and if I have had one, I tend to change it so that I'm happy in it because that's the most important thing, in my opinion. Life is too short to be unhappy in doing a job that you really don't want to do.

If you are happy with the job you have and it sounds like you ARE, forget whether a cook likes you; don't get into a personal argument or fight with him - when you fight on a job with someone, regardless or who is wrong or right, you are both wrong and you can both be terminated.

Also don't care whether your parents or someone else wants you to quit - you are working there, not them.

it sounds like your boss likes you enough to put you in a better paying position in less than 9 months; keep it up and he may consider you for something even better, a shift supervisor perhaps?

I have 2 simple advices:

1. you are living for yourself, not for your parents

2. don't ever quit a job unless you already found one and are hired to start.

The big wigs do appear to like me. They like my brother too.

My plan was to explore all of the other jobs in the building and possibly move up to supervisor, because then I can put that on an application and I'd be considered for a job almost anywhere.

Nothing beats experience.

I don't mind the job so I'm going to keep it as long as possible, besides, I'd like to do some form of writing and I'm working on a novel, so if I can get it published, that may start my new career, and writing can be done on the side of a normal job and can be very rewarding.

So I think I have a solid plan. Even if they don't see it that way.

And I shouldn't complain because my parents are nice enough to let me continue living here rent free. I just have to pay for my own food, cell phone, and car insurance.

So I have a good oppurtunity to get my life set up. I just hope this all goes according to plan.

It's practically Christmas and it's hot outside! It's in the upper 70's which is like tank top and flip flop weather . I'm a New York girl so this doesn't feel like Christmas at all!

I know the feeling Roguey. I'm from Ohio and there is snow around this time of year there (snow came a week before thanksgiving). We have got snow in North Carolina before, but never around christmas.

Lucky..I love the heat..I hate the cold..I moved to Texas last year and recently moved back to MD/PA..I miss the warmer winters. It's freezing with snow and ice. Only reason why I hate the cold and snow so much is because I grew up in Alaska. 12 years I had to deal with it..Oh well. I miss Texas
